While there have been 'growing pains' along the way, her current location is spacious and laid back, while still professional. Staff is professional and well-trained. The only words I can use to describe my first ever experience at Sugar Me Right are bizarre, uncomfortable and just plain bonkers. I had booked an appointment for myself and my mother to try the ionic foot detox. I booked the appointment and confirmed that we would be able to do it at the same time, have a bit of girl time together and relax on our day off. The odd experience began the minute we walked through the front door. We were "greeted" by a young woman through an open bathroom door. We stood awkwardly in the doorway until she told us we could sit in the lobby area. After a long while we were told that they had misplaced the other bracelet for the detox machine so we would have to do it separately. This was not going to work for us so we decided to just have 1 of us get the detox. I ended up doing it while my mother waited. The young woman simply shrugs her shoulders and says "yeah, that sucks". Then out comes the water....in a white dollar store bucket with the Dollarama sticker still adhered to the side. The bucket is placed in front of a chair....2 feet away from my mother in the damn lobby! Yes this entire "relaxing, spa experience" took place in the lobby....4 feet from the reception desk. My mother and I couldn't even talk because it was so uncomfortable not being in a private room. I was not given any information about the process, what was going to happen, what to expect, etc. Just simply stick your feet into this shady bucket and sit in our lobby. 30 minutes I sat there listening to the office hum with phone calls, the noisy printer printing endless amounts of pages, and keyboard typing really set the tone for my "comfortable,relaxing experience". It was only made better by watching one of the young women get up to make herself some lunch and then eat it at her desk. The "relaxing music" was the top 40 station, of course. On 2 different radios that were out of sync with each other....headache inducing!! 30 minutes of my mother and I staring awkwardly at each other in silence, trying not to laugh at the bizarre experience and mouthing the words "this is so strange" to each other. We were completely ignored for the entire 30 minutes....my mother wasnt even offered a simple cup of water while she sat there waiting. When the detox was over I was told to rinse my feet in a metal bowl the size of my palm....a challenge of course. Then my feet were dried and that was that. "Thats a fun colour" was the feedback I received from my detox.....no idea what was going on at all. I paid $30 for this bizarre experience.....$30 and I still have no clue as to what I experienced or what the point of it all was. To top it off, there was no apology to my mother who's appointment was blown off due to staff error. The least I expected was offering her a free service of some kind. Even a free sugaring service while she waited, but nothing at all. I was so disappointed in this entire experience. We had both been so excited to try Sugar Me Right and had every intention of purchasing gift certificates for our friends and family to experience it for themselves. On the drive there, I was planning on booking an appointment for body sugaring services. My first experience very quickly became my last experience but at least we have a funny story to share with our friends. I think the worst part is that I love supporting local businesses and especially women in business but this is one business I absolutely cannot promote! read more
