The store was really messy and for some odd reason they didn't sale green onions. So again it might be because it was later in the day (4pm)...but damn it should have still been better stocked and cleaner than it was since they don't close until 10pm. If you don't have that rewards card the prices are expensive so make sure your rewards card is working because I made that mistake...Smdh Again...I'll give them a try during the morning to see if anything changes. If not I'm going to have to find another grocery store to shop.

Some of them don't even know it exists! I followed all the directions but they still treated me like a thief when I tried to leave the store. Paid nearly $200 for groceries only to have them make a huge scene and put me on display in front of the store while they verified video footage of me while they had both the receipt and all of the merchandise right in front of them. At that point, I just wanted a refund. I paid for everything, never left the store, all the merchandise was still in the cart, and they still detained me like a criminal. When it was over, out of the four or five employees involved, not one apologized for the misunderstanding. I like shopping at Giant but it's a shame you have to drive out to suburbia to be treated with respect. If they are going to treat people like this, they should just take the Scan It! out of the store. Wasted my time and ruined my day.

THE WORST! (profiling, price inflation, expiring food)…read more It takes a lot to get a "1" star out of me, but Compare Foods succeeded with flying colors. Strike 1: I use reusable grocery bags to cut down on the avalanche of plastic bags in my house. As I walk in with my shopping bag, the security guard gets my attention (had in wireless earbuds) and tells me that they do not allow bags and I had to check-in my bag. Fair enough... Not a fan of that policy, but I acquiesce nonetheless. Strike 2: After about ten minutes of shopping, an older black lady, in plainclothes, gets my attention from far down the isle and begins interrogating me. She asks me if I am looking for something, if I am lost, or need help finding something. I told the lady that I was not lost and just shopping (you know... like normal humans). Basically, the lady was profiling me to ensure I wasn't stealing. She was rushing me out of the store through intimidation and probably trying to win employee of the month. Give me a break! Listen... I'm a guy, so grocery shopping for me consists of roaming around aimlessly until I see a bright color tags. This was my second visit, so I am not familiar with the layout. That said, I was taking my time and enjoying my shopping experience and had only gotten through produce and a couple of isles. However, this lady was treating me like I was walking around like The Repo Man from WWF for 2 hours trying to case the joint. I don't know if it's the fact that I wore my New Balance's today or because my facemask covers up these "non-threatening black male" cheeks. Perhaps I look like someone that has robbed the store before. Or, maybe it was my crime of bringing a grocery bag into a GROCERY store. Either way, profiling and pressuring customers is not the way to execute loss prevention, but it is a great way to lose a customer. (bravo) Listen... I totally understand that Compare Foods is the hood and there will certainly be people that steal. However, the owner should have factored that in when he acquired the location (formerly Shoppers). There has to be more sophisticated ways of loss prevention because I frequently shopped at the Shoppers that was here and never had this issue. Strike 3: As I was checking out, the cashier needed to pull out the book to figure out the code for kale. She arbitrarily puts in the code for grapes (which were more expensive than kale). I pointed this out and she eventually charged me for kale and voided my grapes (after me asking that as well). I'm not sure if this was laziness, maliciousness, or incompetence, but make sure you pay attention to what's being rung up. A lot of the food is overpriced and expiring. If an item is on sale, it may be because it's expiring. I bought some Snickers that are Best Before 9/2020 and today is 9-30-20. I've only got one day to eat a whole bag of snickers! Here are some examples of price inflation: Wings are about $2.99/lb at a nice grocery store and about $2.29 at a budget store. Compare Foods wings here were $3.69/lb. Salmon is about $9.99/lb at a nice grocery store and 7.99/lb at a budget grocery store. CF had salmon for $10.99/lb. Another example is potato chips. You can almost always find chips on at 2 for $5. At CF, the chips were the retail price on the bag. Seriously...who does that?! You're Out (Conclusion): This is the only time that I have been [knowingly] profiled at a store in my life and it came from a black security guard and a black lady. Most of the other workers are Latino, so my theory is that the owner probably uses his black employees as the muscle of the operation. Needless to say, I will not be returning here. I started to leave after the lady harassed me, but I didn't want to leave empty handed and validate their suspicions. Now, imagine if I loved my experience and made CF my primary grocery store (it is the closest to me). If I spent $100 here every two weeks. That's $2,600 they missed out on because of me potentially stealing maybe $20 worth of stuff (?). Compare Foods has a really bad vibe and few customers. I don't expect them to last long and good riddance once they go out of business.

SCAMMERS! STAY FAR AWAY…read more On May 19, 2022 before going home, I decided to stop at this market and play $4 worth of number, which is all I had on me. After pulling up, I sat in the car and wrote down 4 numbers on a neon sticky sheet I had in car. I, entered the store and approached the window where you play numbers. First impression and instinct is a fact. Unfortunately, I didn't follow neither one. As I approached the window, the Asian male act as if I didn't exist and continued looking at his cell phone. After being patient and placing my neon paper and $4 in the window slot, I said "Hello, I'm ready", which is when he took the paper and money. Unfortunately, I just took the lottery tickets and didn't check them, which is totally my fault. Instead, I just placed them in my wallet. On May 20, I arrived home at around 3:30pm, after getting settled I decided to check the Md Lottery for 5/19. Afterwards, I went and got my wallet where I placed the tickets and the neon sticky the day before and realized that ticket 9011 wasn't included, which means the store clerk didn't play my number and kept $1or played the number and kept the ticket. There's only one of those reason because I gave him $4 and I wrote down 9011 on the sticky. Ironically, 9011 was written under 1127 and I have the tickets for the other 3 numbers and not for 9011, which came out on 5/20 in the evening. I don't often play numbers and didn't realize how important it is to double check your lottery tickets for accuracy, which is something I will forever regret because of shady and fraudulent activity at this market. For me, it's not moreso about the money it's the principle and the fact that the store clerk did an fraudulent act by keeping my $1 or playing my number and withholding the ticket, in hopes that I don't notice it, which I didn't until the next day. I will never go to this store again. I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau and Md Lottery for a check of their machine because I won, not him.

As I tried to leave, they stopped me and said I owed an extra 5 cent. I asked why, and he replied "taxes" But the state of MD tax rate is 6 percent. 6 percent of .50 is .03. So not only did you stop me for 5 cent you weren't owed, you're overcharging me and being petty by counting pennies. After I informed him of his mathematical error, he refused to sell me the 50 cent cake. Over 5 cents. That I didn't even owe. Keep in mind - I had 5 cent. Just the fact that I told the man that his math was incorrect made him refuse service. If that's how they handle 3 pennies, just imagine how they charge other items? I watched them charge a kid $1.25 for a .99 cent soda. They're leeches. Never ever go here. Unless you want to pay more than you owe!
