You guys! How in the world did I not know about this place?! I stumbled upon SugarLove Cakes purely by accident when I turned down a wrong street recently and just happened to notice this shop tucked all the way back in a corner of a little strip mall. It was fate y'all! And hopefully now my wrong turn is about to turn you on to the sweetest little sweet shop ever! The owner was super nice and enthusiastic about my enthusiasm and explained they'd been here for a while and patiently answered all of my questions about the different cupcakes and other delicious looking treats. We ended up getting a few things to sample-all of them were just so yummy but the pineapple wedding cupcake blew my damn socks off. Definitely going back for that one and so should you!! So blessed to have such incredible king cakes in Slidell. I always get one (or two) to bring back with me to Oklahoma after Christmas, and usually I stay late enough that Mardi Gras season has begun, and I grab some classic purple, green, and gold ones. However, this time I was ahead of the game, but SugarLove absolutely did great still! I saw on Instagram that they were making silver and gold king cakes for New Years, so it felt a little less sacrilegious to be getting one before the season starts. Admittedly, I looked on the online ordering website first but was confused since it wasn't clear if I could get an NYE king cake, so I ended up just going by the shop. It was a painless process-- I was met quickly, we filled out the form for the order, and I prepaid for the pickup just 24 hours later. It probably could have been done over the phone, but I was already on Gause for other errands. Pickup at the shop was just as easy the next day with no issues at all. It was funny seeing the shop before Mardi Gras, since I'm used to it being covered with king cakes. We always put an order in for ours during the season just to be safe, since they can only make so many each day! Admittedly, I haven't tried anything else from the shop, but how could we when the traditional king cakes are so so good? Was in Slidell for a short amount of time and saw the high reviews for SugarLove's king cakes. We took a gamble and showed up in hopes that there are ready made king cakes available. We were greeted with the amazing bakery smell and a sweet lady behind the counter. I asked if there were any king cakes available, and was told that it takes one hour to bake a king cake. Since we did not have an hour before leaving town, we were disappointed UNTIL... the sweet lady offered to sell us a reserved king cake that was not due to be picked up for another three hours. She had enough time to bake another one for the reserved. SugarLove's king cake is indeed one of the best. Full of cinnamon and a petit four icing. My sister recommended this place for her gender reveal and I am so happy that she did. When I arrived they were super packed but it was mainly because not only do they sell bakery items but they also sell snowballs too (which I thought was super cool) but they were super helpful with loading it into my car as well which I really appreciated. I've been hearing about this place for a few years and they finally got me in with the Harry Potter treat box. We are huge HP fans and the box was a fun way to have our Friday family night. Everything was amazing but that mini chocolate chip cookie cake was everything. When I stopped in the store to pick up the box, the two people working were so friendly. I just want to mention the customer service that I received on my first visit to this shop on Friday. It was great! I was chatting with the girl as I was checking out and mentioned that I was headed to the Causeway when I realized I better see if I had my $5 for the bridge. I had just used a credit card to pay for my cupcakes. I only had $4. I said well, I guess I'm headed to Chase and the girl handed over a dollar. That just hit me all in the feels! I dumped out the change in my purse and gave her the 76 cents that I found so she only ended up contributing 24 cents but how sweet was that? That was impeccable customer service and she didn't have to be so sweet. It was after all, my problem. The cupcakes were also awesome! I was told the cake was 48 dollars and the cookies were another price with tax added up to over 84 dollars. Go to pick up my order and was told I never placed an order for cookies, the hell I didn't. Got one of the original flavor king cakes at King Cake Hub in Mid-City, NOLA, because the label said it was the winner of best original flavor king cake at the King Cake Festival. I could not agree more! The braided cake was fluffy while still maintaining some density. The traditional cinnamon flavor shined through in every bite, which was complemented perfectly by the almond (?) flavored icing. I also loved that the cake wasn't overwhelmed by icing. The (hopefully) glitter was a fun touch in addition to the usual green, purple, and yellow sprinkles/sugar. While the cake was definitely very sweet, especially when you're first biting into that icing, I think the flavors were pretty well-balanced. My biggest complaint was that I found several dark hairs baked right into the cake; I couldn't pull them out... I know they are not mine. I sent a complaint via email on the website but haven't heard back. Many pieces of the cake had hairs and I was sad that nearly 1/3 of my cake was inedible as a result, since it's so darn tasty. I'm a big jerk who waited too long to order a birthday cake for my sister Tracy's birthday. Since I'm in California I couldn't bring her a cake myself and because I'm a jerk who waited too long to order one, it was impossible to find anyone who could deliver it the same-day. Checked Yelp and found SugarLove Cakes. It's Thanksgiving Eve and they were crazy busy so it was no shock to discover they couldn't deliver either BUT they are less than 3 miles from my sister's house so it would be easy for her to pick it up. Katherine D (I hope I got that right!) answered the phone. She was incredibly busy and told me the place closed in an hour but she still took the time to help me choose something PERFECT for my sister (who was not having a very good birthday.) The price was reasonable so I paid by phone and left my sister's name as the person who would be picking it up. Since they were closing very soon and I couldn't reach my sister, I texted her telling her where to go to pick up her treat. Tracy called me back, joyfully announcing that she knows the place, loves it, and is already in the car on the way to pick up her treat! She said the place smells like HEAVEN and at Mardi Gras they push a vendor cart around the parade route selling King Cake on a stick. My kinda people! Even though her birthday wasn't going so great, SugarLove Cakes (and my Visa) helped turn it all around and now Tracy is happily gorging herself on the best cupcakes she's ever had in her entire life. Well first off i want to say I've bought many cakes,desserts,and king cakes here.All have been great.Love the king cakes!!However I went to the snowball place for the first time today.We had 4 adults and 4 kids.They adults came for the Chantilly snowball,and was very upset it's been taking down already from the menu.Ok that's ok we ordered for the kids first.We got 2 of them bubblegum unicorn snowballs for them,one chocolate,and the other we got orange dreamsicle stuffed.Which they stuff with blue bell.I actually think it's better with soft serve,but that's just my opinion.The barely put enough syrup in all of them.And had to ask for more..Which I know the cream flavors are hard.Anyways the adults ending up not even getting snoballs there,and went down the street.The kid who got Dream sickle threw hers away.Said it tasted nothing like a dream sickle.Which I tasted it,and I had to agree with her,it tasted like cotton candy,lol.What kid do you know that will not eat a snoball??So I don't know what's going on..But we were horribly disappointed read more

Very disappointed that this bakery is so expensive for a not so great product. Most of the items we've tried have been old, dry, or in the case of the strawberry cupcakes, just flat spoiled. Twice I've gotten molded strawberries when selecting a strawberry cupcake. I believe due to price, these things sit in there too long. Also tried the macarons. While tasty, they are much smaller than the standard macaron yet more expensive than any place else, including Whole Foods.
