I feel like an absolute fucking bellend tbh, spending all my time in fucking yumyums (which has the world's stupidest name and is only fun coz they have those tables that sink into the floor but half the time they don't let you sit in them anyway) when this absolute solid gold TREASURE is one minute round the corner. Anyway, the window seat is right next to some cute fairy lights and flowers and shit. As per usual I embarrassed my dining partner - 2015 Elite Yelper, Luke Y - by announcing that if this was a tinder date he would definitely be getting laid. BE WARNED THOUGH - romantic as it is, that table is draughty as fuck whenever anyone goes out for a cigarette. The food is the most authentic Thai I've had outside of actual Thailand. We ordered like the fat fucks that we are, and had fish cakes, chicken satay, squid and some kind of stir fried pork. I also rate their masaman curry and kanom jeeb dumplings more highly than I can express in words, and their homemade ice creams are fleek af too plus they do cool flavours like coconut and pandan. Your whole experience here is going to be heightened immeasurably by the cuteness of the tiny Thai grandma that serves the food. I just want to kiss her all over her jolly little face. She brings you these little spearmint chewy sweets with your bill that instantly take on the exact texture of pre-chewed chewing gum when you eat them. Maybe they are chewing gum? Either way, I swallow, but that's enough about my personal life LOL. All in all, it's an A+ experience every time. Big up Thai Cafe, I love you.

It was obviously being freshly prepared because the starters, mains and desserts came out in the same table order every time. Whilst this was reassuring (we knew it wasn't just a microwave mass cooking for everyone) it did mean that the service was slow. We were in the restaurant for over 2 hours and only had 2 courses, not out of choice, but because it was so busy the staff didn't seem ready for that sort of volume of customers. However, give them a few weeks to settle into it and I would definitely go back. The restaurant is very modern and minimalist, and the food is really delicious - I recommend the beef in black salt and ginger.

Hopefully the below explains the low rating Ordering drinks=30 minutes Waitress explaining that she could not take food orders as she did not know anything about thai food= 45 minutes Lukewarm badly fried starters appeared(someone should tell the chef that tempura prawns are not deep fried till dark brown and don't come coated in breadcrumbs. Maybe he didn't know anything about thai food either?)= 1 hour ten minutes Having to phone to get the attention of any of the staff= 1 hour 30 minutes Left restaurant after failing to get main courses and went over to fishy business to get a take away= 2 hours ten minutes Next visit to thai lounge= probably never To be fair the manager did say that the food would be soon, as we were leaving, and that we could have it for free when it did appear, but that was the first contact we had had with any of the staff in an hour(my wife even had to go to the bar herself) and Fishy business seemed a much quicker and tastier alternative at that point. The dictionary defines the word lounge as follows: to pass time idly and indolently. At least this place has a fitting name if nothing else.

Ding Dong Sushi - Rainbow roll and salmon mango roll

The pricing is pretty fair. Most rolls range from £6-8 and there's an average of 6 pieces in each roll. It's much better than going all the way into central with the astronomical pricing. As of right now it is all takeaway. We called to order ahead and we arrived 20 minutes later and it was already ready for us! They pack them in with a generous heaping of prawn crackers so that's quite lovely! My friends get the volcano roll, they love it a lot and is their go to roll. I got the classic rainbow roll and a salmon mango roll. Both had 6 pieces. The rainbow roll was good, with the usual California roll, it was topped with 2 prawns, 2 tuna, and 2 salmon. The portions themselves are massive as I saw some photos on Google reviews. I was afraid it would just be all rice, but it's a fair balance! The mango in the salmon mango roll was very sweet and had generous chunks along with nice cuts of fresh salmon. Service as far as I can see is decent. We should have checked though as my friends only got one set of chopsticks and we didn't get tissues. So make sure to check/ask when you order out! TL;DR Rolls are good, price is fair. Definitely worth trying it!
