Used to be happy with their service, but this year charged double what I was quoted over the phone to replace my control panel and contrary to what I was told, they did NOT program it for me. They also didn't tell me about the sprinkler heads that were leaking, spraying in the wrong pattern (and too old or leaking too badly to be adjusted, nor that the hedge had grown over such the multiple sprinkler heads are completely blocked from reaching the lawn. They didn't even adjust the one sprinkler head I specifically asked to have the spray pattern adjusted on. I would have paid for repair work had I been told, but given I already paid double the quote, I will look for someone else to do the work. read more

CAVEAT EMPTOR -- BUYER BEWARE!! Seriously! I wish I had listened to those other negative reviews! We thought we'd give this company a try since there were leaks we knew that needed fixing and we also needed underground gutter repairs. Two guys came out in May; unfortunately, as I now have learned, after they turned on our sprinklers, they cut the common wire when installing a new wireless rain sensor and never tested the sprinklers again. They said we were all set which we relied upon for two months while our grass and new expensive landscape plantings were turning yellow and dying while we kept increasing the days and time of watering. Once I tried to run through the zones manually and realized they weren't turning on at all, I called Summers and requested they come out ASAP as this is urgent as the sprinklers were never properly turned on. Then a man came on the phone, presumably the owner as he refused to tell me who he was, insisted that I'd have to pay the regular service fee as their warranty period is only 48 hours. That they're tired of people blaming their backflow problems on them (our backflow was totally fine by the way) and that the earliest they could come is in 6 days. He was very rude and angry at me! When I told them that I'd sue them in small claims court for the $546 they charged me in May since our sprinklers were never properly turned on, he said that's fine, he's there all the time. After another company came out on Friday and couldn't fix the problem but figured that the common wire was cut somewhere, it was Trillium Irrigation & Lighting that came out this morning, discovered where Summers had cut the common wire (where the old rain sensor was) and reconnected it. Needless to say, Trillium will now be our sprinkler company for life. read more

Had one appt on a Friday with a 3 hour window. They showed up during the last 30 minutes to tell me they did not allocate enough time to fix a repair for a main water line so we rescheduled. This was not a problem. I understood the situation. So I rescheduled and the office was aware that a 3 hour window of time was required for the next appt and they put me on the books for that amount of time. They were to show up during a window of 2 to 5pm on a Wednesday. They showed up at 4pm and Barney (I believe) said "I am not staring at 3 hour job at 4pm so you will need to reschedule." He offered no apologies and just left. I called their office to get an immediate time to reschedule and the best they could do was the following week (this is happening on a Wednesday). Kip called me and was rude and snarky to me. Terrible customer service. I offered to get another appt the following week but I wanted a discount on the work given I have lost a whole day of work to meet them. He gave that no consideration and said "do you want to set an appt or not and no you are not getting a discount on the work?" I am not quite sure how they continue this business. I will never recommend them to anyone. I have used them for years and their service took a terrible turn. read more

I made an app't and Phil came out promptly. We had a nice conversation about what we wanted & he said he'd get back with a quote the next week. After 2 weeks, I called & he emailed me that he'd been quite busy and a quote would be forthcoming. About 4-5 days later we received it. The quote arrived without a drawing of any sort as to the landscaping design he had in mind. When questioned, that's how he responded, it's all in his 'mind', he does things the 'old fashioned' way. Huh? He has an idea in his mind, describes it as a list of plants & gives a quote? How is this considered 'old fashioned? Here's some money & just do what you want? Next, we needed a quote on repair & maintenance of our pavers. He quoted us $5500 to do the job. Yes, they needed to be re-laid, but it's a small area + some other work on the porch. We received 3 other quotes to do the same work (yes, apples to apples) and no one came in higher than $2200.00. I responded to the quote above by asking if anyone just says yes to an idea in his 'mind'? Did you hear back? That's how I heard back. After the first in-person contact, Phil never called again. All the above was done by infrequent emails, with NO response at all the last time. If this is this company's MO, they will never hear from us again. read more

What can you say when they come when they're suppose to, help you understand what they have to do to get the job done and smile while the work is done. Oh yeah and they do it right. Sounds simple but these folks have always treated the work as professionals. Repeat customers benefit a discount, gotta love that too! Do not use this company for a sprinkler start up. They charge outrageous amounts for doing nothing. We were advised that they would get up to 8 zones running and the we would be charged for that service. The guy spent 10 minutes looking at our system and advised he needed to do electrical work which could cost hundreds of more dollars. We called another company and they had our system up and running for much less money and no electrical work was needed. If you want to be ripped off, this is the company for you to choose. read more

I have used Summer for years. Very nice in person, but i believe the work is sub par. My retired husband is my eyes now and he has discovered by watching U-tube that their work is fast and dirty. They just turn the sprinklers on and that is about it. No real checking to see if they are watering the yard or the driveway. I am looking for another company to shut off in the fall. read more

I have used Summers Irrigation a couple times to start and to winterize my sprinkling system. They are next door to my house. Up to today the experience was Ok. This spring I was searching again for a company to start my sprinkling system. I called Summers and they said it would be $75. I asked for a discount. The lady on the phone said "No". When I told her that if I were at the house I would start myself, and it takes only a few minutes, she said the technician would also provide a complete inspection of all the zones and there will be NO discount of any kind. I do believe $75 for opening two valves and setting up the controller, even with checking the 4-5 zones is a bit pricey. It takes half an hour at the most. And I also think she could give me even $5 discount just to show they care about their customers and willing to please them (and I told her I had used them before, this was not the first time). Seems like all sprinkling companies have been busy in Oakland county this spring, so after calling a few other and finding they were all booked, I called back Summers and scheduled the appointment. The technician called me when he was at the house and said one sprinkling head was broken, I asked him how much it would be to repair. He said $30. I told him to go ahead and fix it. I have just opened the invoice from Summers and it shows $75 for start up, $30 for the sprinkling head... and $12 for other parts and $45 for labor... MAN, you told me and my wife the cost to repair would be $30! We both heard it! The invoice has "Matt/John" as the service tech. Sorry, but this is not a straight forward, upfront approach to doing business, no integrity, shady practice. It doesn't take too much brains to understand that when people ask you "How much?" they want the final price to make their decision. They lost me as a customer. read more

Excellent service personnel: Rob and Evan did a great job! Efficient, respectful, timely, and just so nice. Rob explained my new system clearly and in a friendly, non-patronizing manner. I spent over $200.00 on a busted pipe in the spring due to inadequate winterization of my sprinkler systems in the fall. The owner refused to return my repeated phone calls & I was told the problem was my shut off valve (not true)! The Co. is not a member of the BBB & obviously does not care.... This company is the worst and most unprofessional! Every winter they come in and plow the roads which isn't the issue but the fact that they try to use my driveway as a back up point to get momentum to move the snow which every year I have to ask them not to do this and to stay off my property. They stay off until the next time it snows and then I have to go out and yell at em again to stop and even had to call the police on them. The problem I have is that they drop salt all over my driveway damaging it as salt isn't good on concrete. And packs the snow in my driveway making it hard for me to clean my own driveway. On 1-19-2019 the driver once again was using my driveway and after I went outside and asked him to please stop he said ok and I went back inside to look out my office window to see him push all the snow in front of my driveway and tried to flee from my culdesac but I got out there in time forcing him to remove the snow. No matter how many calls are made and complaints made they show that they have little care or concern to people's property or respect. I will be suing them for damages made from the salt damage to my driveway. read more

i wish zero stars was an option. they came out for a sprinkler start up.. $300 to start up and replace 3 heads. told me it was all set but left with a burst pipe? next morning yard was flooded, called them the next morning and was told they could not come out for 4 days! was told that i probably needed to get someone to help me turn the water off and that they probably just didnt notice during the inspection. the reason i payed for the service was to check for these problems not to get stuck fixing it myself!! terrible service, terrible inspection, terrible prices, TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. i called another company they came out same day, fixed the problem in 15 minutes and charged half of the price i payed to summer. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, SUCH A RIP OFF!!!! read more
