When my classic car, 1957 Chevy Belair lost a wheel due to a broken axle, I was left along the side of I-79 over 90 miles from home. Having had excellent experiences with Summer's Towing in the past, I took a chance and called them to see if they could get me off the interstate and back to Morgantown. Without hesitation, they sent a flatbed an hour and a half away down to me and transported myself and my vehicle back to safety. Frank was professional and he problem solved getting the car up on the flatbed without causing any further damage to the car. I can say enough good things about my experience with this company. I would give 0 stars if it were an option. Shady practices to say the least. We were overcharged for a tow. Don't ask questions about their practices, they will just become belligerent and tell you that don't have to show you a thing. Company insists on only cash. Cash only? Sounds like a red flag to me. I've been taking my vehicles here for a long time. Would have even recommended this shop. However;, that is no longer true. I had my vehicle inspected and was told I needed to replace the front brake pads. They did the brakes and a oil change including topping off the fluids. 119 miles later, my brakes will not work. I was almost in a serious accident. I can see screws hanging out of the brakes and the brake fluid has drained all over the road. I am expecting them to fix the problem. Summer's Towing has helped me out of more than one jam. In the past, whenever I've called and no matter what time, they responded promptly and provided excellent and courteous service. Prices are very reasonable. However, my most recent experience was above and beyond. My vintage auto broke down going up the mountain on route 40 just short of the Summit Inn and golf course. I contacted Hagerty as I have their insurance coverage on my vehicle which includes towing on a flatbed. However, the agent informed me that he had contacted multiple towing companies and each and everyone of them refused to come pick up my vehicle as well as my wife and myself because it was "out of their area" or because "they wouldn't touch a vintage car". Although I knew I was out of state and 30 to 40 minutes away from Morgantown, I took a chance and called Summer's Towing. Dispatch was very friendly and Tyler contacted me immediately. He was more than willing to come pick me up with a flatbed and take me back to Morgantown for a very reasonable fee. Fortunately, by this time I was able to get my car moving once again and didn't require the tow. But what an amazing feeling to know that I can trust a local company in Morgantown to come rescue me in another state on a Saturday without any question or fuss. Thank you Summer's Towing. I have been using the same mechanic for a long time, and leery to try someone new. I usually will have my son's car towed home for any service or repair needed. However, this time I gave in to his plea and decided to try Summer's. I figured if I didn't feel comfortable with what they suggested I could just tow it home again. Summer's didn't disappoint. The check engine light was on and AutoZone did a code check which came up as the purge valve. It would have been easy for Summer's to just agree and do that repair. However, they were very honest and upon inspection found that there was just a lot of corrosion and a few wires that needed replaced. So they just cleaned up the corrosion and replaced the wires. Also had them do an oil change and inspect the serpentine belt and power steering belt (which was fraying). Serpentine belt was good and the power steering belt was replaced. All in a timely manner and for an economical price. My son said his car has never driven smoother or sounded better. I would highly recommend them for your auto repair service. read more

Professional, courteous and quick! Those are 3 words you don't usually hear describing car repairs. But that's what I experienced with Summers Towing. I live in DC and had a breakdown on the interstate just outside Morgantown. I called 2 other places first and both said 60-90 minutes for the truck. Summers said less than 30 and he arrived in 25. The driver really knew cars and diagnosed the problem - even explaining it to the mechanics at the dealership where we took the car for repair. Great service! I've spent a fair amount of money here before and was always happy, even going as far to recommend the place to others. However, a few weeks ago I had changed my headlight and couldn't get it back in myself. I decided to run down the road to Summers and to see if they'd be open to helping me out as I have been a customer a few times. I was fully aware and capable of paying something, but what happened next blew my mind. Guy wanted to charge me a full hour of work at $75 an hour to put a headlight back in, even though I had everything ready and only needed someone to simply pop it back in. Most people giving bad reviews are guilty of being towed by this place, which I don't agree with giving bad reviews just because you're mad you parked somewhere wrong. My bad review is because their customer service is next to nothing and they don't give a care about whether you're a loyal customer or not. I used to be one, but no longer. I went to national tire and battery over at suncrest town center to help me out and they didn't charge me a thing, so tipped the guy $20...a place I had never been to. Shame too for summers, as I need to replace a ball joint and get an alignment soon and was planning on using them, but no longer the case. I'll never recommend them now and will actively campaign against them forever from this point forward. read more

My vehicle was towed from the Mile Ground due to the Monongalia County Sheriff's department. Whom gave me one reason after another for my vehicle being towed. Summers stated the Sheriff didn't have them write the reason for tow like normal so the towing company cannot tell me why it was towed. I have tried to pay over the phone for my vehicle multiple times and have been told to call back during their normal business hours since the answering service didn't know what payment methods are accepted. Unfortunately with it being the last day of the month and first of a new month I was unable to call the company during business hours. I run a business and am there from the early morning til night daily. With it being the time of the month it is I literally got now extensive break to make a phone call and pay for my vehicle. I called multiple times; once Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Saturday evening I finally got someone willing to help at the answering service by getting a driver to call me back. However the driver didn't know what payment method I could pay for my vehicle with. He then called the "owner" who told Andrew the driver I was speaking with that only cash is accepted for payment. So my question is, what is someone supposed to do in the middle of paychecks and only has a credit card with the funds needed for a tow? Mind you this tow was $226 for towing it 2 miles. This company expects people to pull it out of thin air I guess. Now the kicker to why I am even more livid than ever. My phone calls made Thursday and Friday to the tow company no one ever told me there was a fee for "reopening" which is why a simple tow is over $200 or that there is a $25 daily fee for "storage". As I speak with Andrew the drive after he tells me I cannot speak to anyone whom runs the business until maybe Monday. I say maybe because the owner is" busy" doing paperwork all weekend I was told. But that also Mondays he is busy from that weekends paperwork that he may not get time to call me about my complaint. Waiting to hear from him since he is "busy" mind you I will continue to be charged a "storage" fee. Again I run a business and this is not how it is done folks. Especially to someone whom was just trying to pay to get their vehicle back. read more
