James Beard Team - CrossCountry Mortgage

We reached out to CrossCountry Mortgage after being invited to join their "Refinance Club," which…read morewas supposed to offer specific waived fees. What a disappointment it turned out to be nothing more than a sales pitch and one of the most stressful, unprofessional experiences we've ever had. We worked with Jacqueline Clay and the James Beard Team, and from day one we were given conflicting information about our credit and payments. Their third-party verification company (Factual Data) reported false late payments, and we spent hours trying to fix their mistakes. Calls went unanswered, we were transferred around, and the communication was terrible. When I brought up concerns, Jacqueline was rude and condescending, saying things like "You just don't listen, Devina," and "Wow, you don't appreciate what I've done for you." She even said, "Devina, you worked in finance, you should understand," which is ridiculous. I've never worked in finance, I just ran my own small business and did payroll. At one point, she even told me, "I'll work on your file, but don't tell your husband." That was completely unethical and inappropriate. When I reported her behavior to James Beard, he brushed it off, saying, "She's really put herself out there for you she works late and sometimes does too much to try and help, even when I've told her it's not possible. She makes miracles happen." That kind of response showed a complete lack of accountability within their team. After weeks of wasted time, stress, and misinformation, we finally walked away and refinanced through Guild Mortgage, who found no late payments, no credit dings, and got us a cash-out refinance at a great rate all without the chaos or disrespect. I would not recommend CrossCountry Mortgage or the James Beard Team to anyone. Save yourself the frustration and go somewhere that treats you with honesty and respect.

When I asked whether this was common practice, I was met with hostility bordering on verbal abuse. I explained to The management there that I felt gaslit and was unaccustomed to being treated in such a poor manner. The management ensured that James Beard himself would follow up with me. He never did. I later received greeting cards in the mail and follow up calls from the team inquiring as to whether I was ready to buy a home. Based on the reviews, my experience is not a unique one.

I was able to call her anytime when I had questions or challenges I had uncertainties about. She followed through with every detail, working with my real estate agent and title company officer as a team. She made sure I understood the important details of the paperwork I needed to sign. I highly recommend Sandy and Mortgage Express for anyone's real estate loan needs. Donna Hoyt

Mortgage Express was founded in September 1999 to offer exactly that. Their focus is lightening speed mortgage transactions, coupled with quality service. "We're a privately held company, so we're very competitive," says Allan Mohr, mortgage consultant at the Portland office. "The focus is always customer first. If our in-house bank doesn't have it, we'll go the extra mile to find the best product for our customers." Over 80 percent of Mortgage Express loans are funded by their in-house bank. They underwrite, fund and fully complete the loan process, often within one week's time. The goal is to offer a streamlined and seamless process for both the Realtor and customer. "I'm within 30 feet of my underwriter, funder and doc drawer," says Mohr. "There's no phone tag. We are very hands-on and it's a close knit group."

Our experience during the buying process was excellent and we still believe that Niki was helpful DURING that time. However, it has become clear that should any issues arise after signing on the dotted line, we were no longer valued clients. Simply put after attempting contact through numerous emails and phone calls we were ignored. There was some miscommunication and incorrect information provided to us by our Lender Niki (we completely understand that sometimes mistakes happen) what we find unacceptable is that rather than explaining the mistake, apologizing for the miscommunication, and assisting us in finding a solution, Mrs. Campbell ignored our requests for a phone call and meeting. We have yet to receive even a half-hearted apology for the inconvenience. Only after calling Homestreet Bank and speaking with a customer service representative through their corporate office were we able to resolve the issue (with no help from our lender). To say the least we are very disappointed in the lack of communication and the little respect for our time. This review is not a reflection on Homestreet Bank Corporation but only on our experience with one employee. We are thankful that someone from the Homestreet Bank team was courteous enough to assist us in finding resolution. An insightful experience on how not to handle mistakes and the importance of good customer service!

Can't recommend Niki enough. She was so helpful through the process, don't hesitate to call her!read more
