Since we were splitting the lot "pre-need" (before one of us actually died), we got a 5% discount, and since we also paid in full, we got another 3% discount. I had talked to him about a month and a half ago about doing it, and he held the price for us until now (I guess their rates just went up at the beginning of the month). We didn't purchase our markers/ stones with them, but he tells me that their pricing is "competitive" with Schoenrock Monument.

She was extremely pleasant, compassionate and informative. Jessica assisted my family in planning the memorial service and made the process as pleasant as she was able. Despite everything taking place during the week of Christmas, Jessica and other staff at KOK's Cottage Grove location were always responsive and delightful to interact with. Acacia Park is gorgeous. All of the headstones are on the ground, so it looks just like a forest unless you're looking at the ground. There are lovely hills (though I didn't appreciate them on my bike), and I even ran into a turkey while I was in there. It's private, it overlooks Fort Snelling, and it's just a really peaceful, quiet place to be. I was recently at an interment here, and everything went smoothly, even in the snow. They were playing a song on the bells and it was a really beautiful event. Whether or not you have a reason to come here, just take a walk around it sometime.

During Labor Day weekend this year, I had the incredibly heartbreaking experience of taking my…read morefather off of life support. Soon after, I spoke with my family about next steps, and my brother found Huber Funeral Homes. Of all the places he called, Chad, the program director there, picked up immediately. He said he could meet with us the morning of Labor day (the next day) to review booking a date, pricing, and answer any questions. We had the meeting around 10 am, and he professionally arrived early in a suit. He gave us the information, and we felt comfortable enough to go with him. He also gave us a folder with all the information not only about the funeral, but also about what to do after one loses someone. I appreciated that. The day before the funeral, Huber Funeral Homes coordinated with the hospital (where my father passed), embalmed him, and transported him to their location. We had to think of so much that day; I'm glad they took care of everything. The day and a half I had to organize the funeral, I worked with Chat to have a program printed, and he gave me so much flexibility in getting those materials to him. When I arrived, they already had my father, flowers, and everything else setup. They accommodated us and our request, for a Buddhist funeral, too. After the ceremony and reception, they coordinated a funeral procession to Lakewood Cemetery where they cremated my father. They hired law enforcement to literally stop traffic, for us, as we traveled from Eden Prairie to Minneapolis. I hate the fact I'm writing a review about a Funeral Home, but Huber is a business, with locals working there, too. And they did such a good job that when an awful event like the loss of a loved-one occurs, trust Huber Funeral Homes to help make the worst time in your life a little bit easier.

After the pronouncing of her death I had to call the funeral home to pick her up. I was told they were busy, and they came in a timely manner. Even it's a loved one, a dead body in the bedroom is damned creepy. We were able to make arrangements the next day. I like how during the visitation they're so available and on top of things. Turns out we shared the day with a much younger man who was very popular and had almost 200 guests. We were in the smaller room across the way, yet as people came in they were drawn to our side to sign in. This basically led to me directing traffic, rather than visiting with our guests. So right away the director moved our sign in to inside our room, problem solved. They are very good at helping you keep costs down. At stressful times like this you want friendly, co-operative people at your service.

I wouldn't normally write a review for a funeral home, since it is a very personal decision and…read moreusually these choices are made from a long line of tradition and where families usually go. However I am going to make an exception here. My first experience with them was in 2005, when my Grandmother passed away. This was my Grandpa's immediate choice and from what I understand it was the choice for my Grandmothers side of the family as well for previous relatives. Since I was the designated person in charge for making decisions, Jeff guided me effortlessly through the process. He made it very simple, painstakingly easy and did not in any way try to sell me things I did not need. He had a very good set of sub contractors he used and referred us to, florist, minister etc...all in all, a very difficult emotionally moment, was in the end, a comforting experience. We used them again in 2009, when my Grandfather passed away and since my Grandfather had previously contacted Jeff and explained what his final wishes were, it was even simpler. Same boisterous, yet thoughtful minister presided and again a comforting experience. I used them last in 2012, when my Dad passed away. I'd like to say that I live in California. So when my Dad who lived in Wisconsin at the time, ended up in the hospital in St. Paul and the moment was coming, I did not hesitate to contact Jeff, two days before Christmas, to ask him if this was something he could take care of since I'd be having my Dad cremated, as opposed to buried, like his parents. Jeff returned my call promptly and let me know that when the moment came to contact him and he'd pick up my Dad. Imagine the relief I felt, knowing that it would be taken care of. When the moment came, Jeff did in fact get my Dad and I did arrive in MN. I met with Jeff to set up the arrangements, which were in fact minimal, after all I was having my Dad cremated, there would be no service etc, again, just the basics and Jeff took care of it all. I wasn't there when my Dad passed, so imagine my surprise when Jeff said, that he had my Dad in the viewing room, if I wanted to see him. A mixed emotion, but I got to see my Dad one last time. They also did me the courtesy of holding my Dad's ashes until I could decide what to do with them. Kandt-Tetrick, is compassionate, caring and thoughtful, I can see and clearly understand why they've been a South St Paul institution for as long as they have. I highly recommend them, should you find yourself in need of a funeral home.
