I tried to be a patient at the Shipyard Blvd location for a dermatology issue. Reception and scheduling are beyond poor. The medical staff are even worse. I made 3 appointments, saw the 'doctor' once and received zero care/treatment. At least they did refund my last co-pay and admitted they made another scheduling mistake. Recently, I visited Summit Dermatology for a Mohs procedure and was completely satisfied from beginning to end. Upon entering their door, the front desk staff greeted me immediately. After a few minutes had passed, I was greeted by Megan and Jessica, two very pleasant and competent assistants, who had made sure everything was ready for Dr. Lydia Shedlofsky to remove some basal cell carcinoma on my neck. I was very impressed at how carefully Dr Shedlofsky was in making sure that there weren't any more Basal cells remaining. The whole experience at Summit Dermatology has been very satisfying and I would highly recommend them to everyone. read more

This was my first time at Summit dermatology. 04/29/25 . I saw a Miss Paula..I had never been to a dermatologist in my life. I had 4 itchy bothersome ( seborric Keratosis ? ) decided it was time to remove them.. Paula looked at them and decided by herself that only one was bothersome to me.. I explained to her I've been dealing with these for a few years and they change in appearance throughout the year.. They are all itchy and bothersome. She said she could freeze all of them but she's only submitting ONE to insurance..She called the other 3 cosmetic procedures.. Really? She actually said It would be fraud if she submitted all of them. It's unbelievable to me she has the knowledge of how these moles feel on my skin and the distress they cause after only spending just a few minutes with me.. I thought they used numbing medicine, she said absolutely not. She was getting annoyed and I really needed them off.. She froze them off. I paid cash for the 3. My appointment was at 3:30 and I was on my way home by 4Pm.. She darted out quickly.. I have never been treated so poorly. I wouldn't recommend this practice to anyone... Hopefully she diagnosed them properly and they aren't something more sinister.. Who knows!!.. read more

received text to call and reschedule a missed appointment...I didn't have anything listed on my calendar didn't receive a text or reminder call, dermatologist appointments are made 8-10 months out, so for me, I really appreciate the text or call before appointment. When I called to reschedule, I was told I had to pay for missed appointment before they would make me an appointment, I asked if I could pay for missed appointment when I came in for my rescheduled exam. I was told NO...you must pay before we'll schedule any appointments for you. I have been with Summit dermatology for several years and am now considering a change to a another practice...I'm not just a time in your schedule, I liked M. Tranter but not the atmosphere at the front or the phone tree..you call and never get the office you go to. read more

I perused the other reviews about this practice, and they all appear to be related to cosmetic procedures. So, my review will be a little different as I went in regarding a medical concern. Check-in procedure was friendly and efficient. Jody took me to the examination room. Now, I am not sure of Jody's title, but she truly was professional. Not only was she warm and welcoming, she provided excellent education regarding preventing sun damage and gave me a bag loaded with sunscreen samples, many of them cruelty free. Dr. Loy did my exam. She was also pleasant, personable, and professional. I am very impressed with this practice and am going back in six months for a skin check. The clinic wasn't helpful, the service they did was not showing any results.They also said if there were no results to call back in two weeks for another dose free of charge. Do not get filler/injections with this business (either location). My first time visiting was around April/March 2019, fairly good experience with guidance and informative consultation. Second time was about a month ago and left me feeling less than impressed, which was incredibly disappointing as I had the same physician. I was left alone in the room for unusually long periods of time, and felt as if I was being rushed by the injector for all 5/6 minutes of her time with me on top of being dissatisfied with my final results after spending hundreds. Perhaps they provide other great services at this facility but filler is not one of them in my opinion. read more

The staff is nice but they left me waiting 45 minutes before they took me even into a room I only saw the doctor maybe four minutes and when I got out to ask questions everyone had already left they told me one thing and then wanted to charge me for two different things. I believe the doctor is probably good in what he does but I would not trust someone that won't spend time with me and then tries to double charge,also I asked the doctor himself about charges for the surgery he was going to be doing and he acted like he had nothing to do with it, what doctor does surgery and doesn't know what the prices are. I was quoted $4000 less by his competition here in town I'm very confused and upset I feel my time was wasted when I've saved for so long for my procedure. read more

Had gynocomastia removal surgery in 2016 with liposuction of the chest and abdomen, wife also had tummy tuck , paid a lot of money staff was nice before surgery after complete change . My gynocomastia surgery was a epic fail . Wife not happy out almost $17,000 . When I call and ask for a surgical report staff says it'll be a whole 50 cents a page and they can't mail it . So I can't pay over the phone and the can't email me a medical records request to sign. I have to come by in person. I live 2 hours away. I have called and complained to dr Ricadelli personally. He said he would have someone call me with an appointment immediately to see for himself. That's been over a year nobody's called yet . Unfortunately it wasn't good. I've had Botox injections done for the last twelve years with a wonderful doctor. But I retired and relocated. After reviewing several businesses for consumer experience I decided to try Summit Plastic Surgery in Wilmington,NC. I was seen twice by a female doctor which I loved. She did great work. I wasn't able to get an appointment in July and opted to be seen by Dr. Ricciardelli. In my opinion he seemed a bit arrogant. Too make this short, I walked away with droopy eyelids. I called the office to speak to him personally. But he was unavailable. Now my intention was to speak to him. Since then I was seen by one PA and she concurred that my eyelids were droopy. Then he has a LPN call me the following week To have me come in and be seen by him. Reluctantly I took time from my day again to be seen by him. Knowing it can't be fixed. Well to my surprise I was asked "Where are you from". Am really surprised at the question. Then he goes on to say I was rude to his staff! He wouldn't touch me again in a nasty tone. He goes off the deep rail and said "I have patients that come here with cancer on their nose" and your complaining about this? This is what this arrogant doctor called me back for. What differences does my ethnicity make or where am from? Am applauded by his behavior and professionalism. I find his behavior extremely disturbing. I'll be filing a complaint with the medical review board. I know I'll find a doctor or dermatologist to continue my injections. From my very first consultation through my follow up appointments, my experience at Summit Plastic Surgery has been superb. Dr. Ricciardelli took the time to answer all of my questions about my abdominoplasty and explained, in thorough detail, exactly what I would encounter before, during and after the surgery. He set my expectations, and there were certainly no surprises after my surgery. The day after my surgery Dr. Ricciardelli took the time to call me, and he called again Christmas Eve to let me know I could call on Christmas if I had any issues. The results are amazing, and although I'm still swollen a little (10 weeks post-op), I look fantastic! I paid in cash on all of my visits, the problem was one of the office staff either lost or stold my payment and posted it as not having been paid. Horrible. I only had a consultation done. I was interested in non-surgical rhinoplasty. It was the worst experience. Dr Ricardelli came in the room and looked at my nose for less than 30 seconds and said ok we can do this procedure today, it will take about 5 min. I was not expecting that at all. He only looked at one side of my nose and determined that he can inject filler. I did not feel comfortable at all, he kept leaving the room and barely talked to me about the procedure. I asked the assistant if they had any before and after pictures and they could not find me one. That is very unprofessional. I wanted this procedure done, but the way I was treated by Dr. Ricardelli I would not have it done by him. I felt like I was wasting his time or that my insecurities were not important to him. He did not seem engaging and did not act like he wanted to help me achieve a better look and achieve confidence. I am very disappointed and will never return. read more

Had under eye fillers for bags under eyes. I chose Dr Ricardelli based on reviews, because of this I think it important to relay the dreadful experience I had. It would seem to me that this type of procedure is a no brainer for a Plastic Surgeon and frankly on the day it may have taken two minutes of Dr R's time. Before I even left the office I could see that everything was not right and was given an appt for two weeks later. Both my eyes had bulges beneath where the bags were. These were long and diagonal and VERY apparent. I had two really bad black eyes for two weeks. I then returned and Dr R. said all he could do would be to "melt" the filler and attempt to re do. This he did and I again had to return two weeks later and in the meantime had two black eyes again. When I returned for the third time he admitted there was nothing else he could do! I was horrified and also astounded. He admitted he "Messed Up" and asked me what I thought he should do! To say this experience was a nightmare is putting it lightly, consider also that it's ongoing until such time as the fillers wear off. I requested a refund which I believed was reasonable given the circumstances but Dr R's arrogant response was "That is never going to happen. You got great customer service and free product" The "free" product was him using a partial syringe after melting the original due to his botched work. I was so upset that I could not even argue with him. It is 3 months later and my eyes look absolutely awful. I have two diagonal bulging lines beneath where my bags were. A relative who is a lawyer believes I should sue. I have had to confess to friends and family what happened (even though I didn't want to publicize that I had work done) as it is so apparent that something was wrong. If a plastic surgeon gets a simple filler procedure so horribly wrong (plastic surgery 101 I would have thought) I certainly wouldn't trust him with anything more complex. My nightmare will continue for at least another 9 months and I am $1600.00 out of pocket. read more

The staff are friendly and it's easy to get an appointment. But it doesn't help me, I had my abdominoplasty at the summit performed by Dr Ricciardelli. My stomach is uneven and my navel looks like I had a G-tube, I'm more embarrassed now of my stomach than before. I let Dr Ricciardelli I was unhappy with my procedure and that I'm now unable to tell when I have to urinate. He said it was temporary and that was the way my body is shaped. My stomach has never been uneven at any point in my life. read more
