Review Let's start out with the pros: the views are stunning and the grounds at the complex are pretty as well. In the summer there are so many birds it is a treat. Lisa and Victoria are also a plus, they are easy to talk to, they are professional, and they actually seem to care. Thanks ladies! The cons: The neighbors- College Kids-and I do mean kids, they are about as polite as you'd expect 18-21 year olds to be. You are living with a bunch of college kids who throw parties, blast their car stereos right outside your apartment windows. One morning I woke up to find that the neighbors above me puked over their balcony onto mine, sick. Fighting- the walls are thin here and I will get to that later. There is constant fighting in these units, not your normal fighting but violent fighting. You can call the cops and you can tell the office, nothing will change. Be prepared for any relaxing moment to be ruined by couples or roommates who can't have a mature conversation. It seems like several times a month cops are patrolling these properties. Destruction of property- I witnessed, called the police, and let the office know about a resident who intentionally broke the windows of another car, and guess what? That person still resides at these apartments to this day. Watch out for an guy who drives a black Tesla. Feels safe right? The Units Themselves- The walls- run, run as fast as you can from this complex. You can literally hear your neighbors : burp, pee, sneeze, fart, and you can hear all of their personal conversations. I really do not believe these walls are insulated at all. So imagine how loud parties are or music is if you can hear your neighbor take a dump? Dumpsters- listen to my warning, do you rent an end unit unless you want your bedroom window to be right above the dumpsters. It is rancid in the summertime. Imagine the charming smell of dog poop and garbage wafting into your apartment all day. Such a treat. Another special thing about living near the dumpster is the sound of someone throwing away their trash at 1am...not just your day to day trash but furniture as well. The Show Unit- I encourage everyone thinking about renting here to ask to see the unit they are actually renting. Each unit is different and is likely in much worse shape than their show unit. Not all of the units are upgraded or remodeled, and some are flat out run down and dingy. The Carpet- ask them to install new carpet if they haven't. The cleaners they use do a poor job. I had my carpet cleaned twice and when I walk around it still turned my feet black. The bathtubs- they paint them with what I am sure is acceptable paint to use on bathtubs. However you can't properly clean or scrub your bathtub without removing the paint coating. In order for them to fix it they will tell you that you and your pet(s) will need to be out of the unit for several hours. The laundry room- it's a hot mess, machines are usually broken or don't work expect to pay for your laundry to be done twice. Office Communication- the office staff will send short condescending text reminders about all the things that they feel the entire community is doing wrong. In the same breath the will turn off the water with zero communication beforehand 100% of the time. The poop, my gawd the poop- there is dog poop everywhere, be prepared to step in it. Super rad little experience. The smoke- smokers are in abundance and they smoke in their units too, pay attention to all the yellow blinds. Because of how the vents work you will smell the smoke in your unit. Hot Water- it will go out a couple times a year. Oh oh oh the new paint job- they sprayed over 50+ swallows nests instead of removing them, I guess you can consider that contemporary art, very classy. Don't let the outside fool you, the units are still run down on the inside. Maintenance Crew- they aren't the brightest or the most considerate. They will all congregate and talk loudly outside your window early in the morning. I watched one put a dishwasher on top of their golf cart and proceed to drive away without it being tied down, it fell off onto the concrete. Lastly- wild life will get stuck in your walls and depending on who you talk to they will remove the poor creature or they will leave it there. That about sums up my journey with Summit View Village. This place, especially the management (Jenni Vester), does not even deserve one star. DO NOT LIVE HERE. They almost killed my dog and then tried making me pay for it. They neglected to tell me of a fire within the building before moving in and I suffered from smoke inhalation which resulted in my dog getting sick on the carpet. I should not have had to pay for the ENTIRE carpet in the complex to get replaced. And I shouldn't have had to pay expensive vet bills because of poor living conditions. It is appalling that a complex would claim that unit was livable. All the finishes needed to be REPLACED to reduce this smoke contaminate before anyone moved in. Or these "simple" ozone solutions, as management mentioned AFTER I moved out, should have been, at the very least, offered when I brought up the initial complaints. Smoke inhalation was not just "unpleasant", as management stated in an email (wouldn't even talk to me on the phone about this issue), it was a threat towards my health and my pets health. I hope no future residents or pets become sick from this management's neglect to address poor living conditions, and then having the residents pay for it. read more

Three years in and this place has gone down hill. Garbage piles are ignored by staff. Garbage is moved around to different buildings to be petty and punish complaints. Ice melt is put down in large spots rather than spread out intelligently. The water is frequently rusty for short periods of time. Bums frequently ransack the dumpster areas with impunity. Calls to the office result is responses like "we wish residents would do more of" what ever shitty situation they've allowed to happen that needs attention. My husband and I showed up for an appointment to see some apartments. We arrived to the office to see they would be back at 10:20... It was 12:40. I called from the lobby, no one answered. TWO people walked in and we waited almost 30 more minutes to be acknowledged. We finally made it in to see someone was in the the entire time. Already annoyed. WE finally got a tour, and saw some tiny, smelly apartments. And were warned "don't poke holes in the ceiling" and "don't scrape the paint off". Why? BECAUSE THEY HAVE ASBESTOS IN THE CEILING AND LEAD PAINT ON THE WALLS. Isn't that illegal and not up to code?? The girl showing us even said an apartment with a loft that had beams was out of code. WHAT ON EARTH?? For an apartment with lead paint "under, like, a million coats of paint, hehehe" and asbestos on the ceiling, the rent was ridiculously too high. Needless to say, we will not be leasing from them. read more

I lived in Summit View Village from January 2016-April 2017. Yes, it is pricey, but hello you live in the most beautiful town in the metro Denver area, where the price of rent is insane everywhere. The apartment was clean when I moved in, and I loved how I was able to have 2 pets in my place. The grounds are generally well kept and the staff is always friendly and as helpful as possible. The manager especially was very understanding and accommodating on some concerns I had when moving out. I would still live here if I didn't move in with my boyfriend, and I would recommend Summit View to anyone seeking to move to Golden! read more

I lived here for 3 years.... it was cheap!! 545 for a 2 bed apartment! HUH OK for me that's great! I worked in Golden and Denver. 6th ave is 3 seconds away... and 6th ave is quick(at the right hours) and easy! My place was OK ... not luxury not a crap hole.... just right! I did have a mold problem in the walls which they did not recognize...but i did not truly notice till the end of the lease. They have free rentals of DVDs and their selection is not bad.... The laundry room is big and not expense. they do have a few computers u can use and printers but the connection is slow and truly spotty..... parking under an awning is nominal plowing in the winter constantly left me stranded! Block in but it was fine... i called in or took the bus that was a block way! maintenance was quick at times... in the winter not so much. Expect college kids around yeah... Mines kids .... not toooooo bad but can be annoying when you gotta get up for work during a finals week or something. Everyone I met here was great! Carrie was great in the office! I am happy overall but I am also unhappy about little things. Like in the winter waiting 2 day after pipes freeze.... broken bottles in parking lot that no one acknowledged for days. but truly can a place be perfect for the price??? This complex is awful. Awful. Awful. Stay away! The hot water constantly goes out, heat does not stay in the apartment, And the ac unit doesn't spread cold air more than two feet. That's just the beginning. The water in both the sink and bathtub make this horrendous noise every time there is more hot water than cold. This is a building thing. I have friends know other buildings and it's the same story. The toilet constantly runs. The refrigerator leaks water over the kitchen floor. And occasionally freezes EVERYTHING, causing not only the food to freeze, but the shelves to be covered in sheets of ice. Our toilets have been clogged by the pipes. Under the kitchen sink had something so horribly wrong with it there was dirt, food, and grime from the garbage disposal ALL over the bottom under the cabinets one day . Oh yes, the cabinets. They aren't put on properly, the counter tops are in at an angle, and off. The handles on the drawers are off centered, while the holes from previous handles aren't plugged properly. The painting is... I can't even explain it. It looks like someone closed their eyes and went wild. There are paint drips in the shower, on the floors and on light switches. Under the dishwasher Isn't even correctly blocked off... it's a trash bag taped between under the sick and where the dish washer is. For your own sake,.just look somewhere else. and please know the "model" you'll see is NOT what you get. read more

Not too impressed. Signed a lease and was ready to move in. The day before my move in date I went to see if it was ready. I was not. However, my lease had already started. The apartment was filthy. Old broken toys, food, pet fur, and dirt were everywhere. The people at the front desk said there was nothing they could do until the following Monday. They wanted me to move in and they'd clean around my stuff. So, now I'm paying rent for an apartment I can't even use..... Furthermore, after the "cleaning"its still dirty. The kitchen cabinets are in very poor condition. The toilets are very stained The carpets are stained and smelly. The walls show signs of water damage. The outside of the unit is equally as bad. Dirt and trash are everywhere. If you like living in a prison, this may work for you. If you want to have a nice clean home, maybe not. read more

I lived here for 6 months through the summer and fall of 2010. These apartments are very spacious, in a great location and are functional. My only complaint, besides noise (which you have to accept with apartment living), is the amount of cigarette smoke smell that transfered from one apartment to the other. My neighbor below would be awake at all hours of the night, sawing or hammering. Not sure what he was into, but he smoked CONSTANTLY and EVERYTIME it would come up to my apartment. Since there are steele beams between units, I can't imagine it coming through the ceiling/floors. I think it was the piping. Being allergic to cigarette smoke, I would have a headache instantly and be sick to my stomach. I woke up to that every morning. I was so glad to move out of there and have fresh air to breathe every morning. The management office is great, for the most part. I had attitude from the man there, when I was unhappy about their roofing company destroying something that was given to me by my Grandpa. The ladies are all nice though. The clubhouse is awesome and the free wifi is great to have. The laundry facility is great, never had to wait for a washer/dryer. The trails and dog park near by were WONDERFUL to have for my big dog. I would live here again, if I could have a ground unit. read more

Nothing beats waking up every morning to this incredible view! There are plenty of trails nearby for both the casual walker and the avid hiker! The apartment offers a workout room, Yoga, Wet & Dry saunas, an amazing pool that is shaded in the shallow end for the little ones & long enough for laps & did I mention the hot tub? Better yet head inside the Clubhouse for a round of Pool, Darts, Chess, Foosball, use the office area for internet & printers, play a lil air hockey or just watch some TV on the giant screens. I rented the Clubhouse for my oldest son's Graduation party, not only was it affordable but offered a terrific view from the balcony, we were able to play music of our choosing throughout the Clubhouse and best of all I was able to really impress my family & friends! We have now lived here coming up on 8 years, & to be honest I wish I could just buy my place & never leave! My kids are safe & within my view at all times with the nearby playground & Basketball court, (there is Tennis & Volleyball too but my kids have no interest). The staff is just amazing & always here to fix any issue I have in a timely fashion! I work from home so it is so important to me that the staff is quiet while doing repairs & able to work about my schedule. Any time I see the staff on the streets in passing they wave hello & smile- and let's face it who couldn't use more of that in their life?? Of course I long for a washer & dryer in my unit because I just hate laundry LOL But at least when I do have to trek my stuff of the facility provided I don't have to carry a ton of quarters or wait forever for an available machine. I would love to see them upgrade to central air as it gets hot in the summer. But they make up for that by picking up my trash for me right outside my door five nights a week. That's right ladies who needs a husband? Sorry honey I'm only kidding. But seriously I am sure that he is happy not to have to hear my call out "Oh Honey!" from the kitchen at dinner time while he is trying to relax after work. Needless to say that I love it here. Getting a chance to know the staff better at events they host like Halloween & pool parties or my favorite Wine & Cheese nights give me a safe night to let loose & not worry about how I am getting home after one too many drinks (Hey, I'm a lot of fun at those things, what can I say?) is just the icing on an already fabulous cake! read more

My roommate and I had to go month to month, and they jacked up our rent at a insane rent. We went from paying $560 per month to $700.. each... More on how this is a rip off later. And I am pretty sure that the utilites are community, so I was looking at a $80 bill each month for those. Now I am a simple person, and did not expect luxury. I was moving from out of state, and needed a convenient place to live. I will admit that this place is located by a grocery store, a large mall and major highways. Now onto the shit hole that I lived in for 8 months. Everything in the apartment is CHEAPLY made. The carpet, the paint, the shower lining started to peel after a month of use. Another review stated that the walls were paper thin, she was not kidding. I can hear my neighbors cell phone ring and vibrate. I can hear them talking, I can hear them taking a shower, using the bathroom. We lived in the top floor, I can hear the wind blowing all of the time. What is also strange, under my bathroom sink, the wind somehow blows down there, making this already cold apartment FREEZING. The kitchen. The sink constantly was STINKY. Same with the refrigerator, despite our efforts to fix the smell. The dishwasher partially washes dishes. The handyman came and fixed my hall light... but it never worked. The sliding glass doors to my closet came off the roller within a week. Oh, and there is a RUDE neighbor who lives here as well, who cursed at me in front of little girls. Also, never have I been sick like I was living here. Every single month. Now I do work in a office, but with highly clean people. I wouldn't recommend this place to my enemy. Truly, a bad place to live. My advice to apartment hunters, look elsewhere to spend your money. I PROMISE you, you will find something worth the money. read more

I'm a college student who moved to Golden for school, and this apartment complex is better than most college-town complexes (the ones in Boulder are TRULY bad). My rent is reasonable, I can call maintenance with a quick response if I need anything, the grounds are kept pretty well, and the people who work the front office are lovely (particularly Heidi). I don't use the facilities much at the club house, but they seem great. For a college student, this place is as good as it gets as far as location, affordability, safety, and overall living space. It beats a dorm ANY day. All my neighbors (excluding one, who moved away thank god) are very nice and there's only one partier guy who lives across from me, but at least he saves it for weekends (I mean, it's a college town, so what else would one expect). They're also very animal friendly, which was important for me because I have a small zoo. The location is also animal friendly because of the multiple areas to walk and such. Another perk is that it's right down the street from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Dept. and they respond quickly if anything happens. The only cons I've encountered besides the paper thin walls are lots of kids (just early in the morning noise, really), some annoying parking issues, partiers, barking dogs, and mostly just things with noise. So far I haven't seen any mold, though with the warm weather there's bugs starting to show up, but those are handled pretty easily. I had a problem with a loud neighbor, but wow - it was handled kindly and professionally, and even though they moved out before the management could take care of it, I was assured that any issue I have in the future will be handled with the same level of integrity, which is such a nice change of pace from past experiences I've had. read more

I have been living here for almost two years. The leasing staff, club house staff and maintenance staff do an excellent job.The Maintenance immediately fixes any issues. The leasing clubhouse staff are really courteous. The gym laundry room and club house are kept clean and tidy. The apartment complex are lot older. The apartments are located very close to trails, parks, baseball fields, train station and shopping center so this is a big advantage. However I am not fan of the corporate office skyline property. The keep increasing the rent a lot during each lease renewal. Other than that this is wonderful place to live. read more

I tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt. Lol. But when you call maintenance out of concern for your sons health because there is a bird in your bathroom ventilation. They ignore you. Or they come check it out, make a mess, and don't even clean it up. Did I mention our AC unit is from 1998 and hardly even spits out "cool" air? Called them for that too and no one called me back. No one ever calls you back! Their lack of concern for the tenants is alarming. The laundry room is sick. Smells like feet. They just don't give a hoot. It's apparent and obvious too. Tried to get our CSM daughter into there, and ran into all sorts of problems with the office staff, and their entry rules. Saw a typical unit, from another tenant, and were shocked at the lack of care. The office staff is obviously sending a message that they "do-not-want" students. Our daughter has lived in various other places, with roomates, and two were real rat-holes. This ranks right in there, with those others. read more

Huge and beautiful! The clubhouse that is available to rent for private parties is perfect for all occasions. It has game room for kids, full kitchen, bar area, patio with amazing mountain views and a beautiful grand room with a fireplace. Tables and chairs are also provided. We have had up to 60 guests and fit very comfortably. We moved to a new home recently but still come back several times a year for all of our family events. There is nothing like it for the price. We lived at Summit View for a few months while purchasing a new home. The location is ideal and we fell in love with the town of Golden. Summit View has a variety of people that live there. We made friends easily and our kids looked forward to meeting other kids at the playground every evening when the weather was nice. The clubhouse has office space with computers, a gym, a pool, and a hot tub. The staff is friendly, attentive, and fair. They host parties and activities throughout the year including a movie night for the kids with popcorn and candy, a Halloween party, Oktoberfest and other fun activities for the folks that live there and their friends. All in all not a bad place to live. read more

We have LOVED living at Summit View Village these past 8 months. Due to the flood in Estes Park we had to live in Golden for my husbands job. The office staff was GREAT to work with given some unique challenges we had. The complex is older but VERY well maintained. Clean, free from pest(inside and out). The office staff has always been friendly and organizes optional community events. S.V.V. is close to everything...Whole Foods, King Soopers, Walgreens, Colorado Mills mall. We lived in Summitview for a year and it was hard at times. We had water leak from the outside of the apartment inside, the apartment was not clean when we moved in (to be fair management had it cleaned within 24 hours), the carpet smelled like cat pee for about the first six months of living there, the neighbors below us smoke so much weed and so many cigarettes that the smell drifts through the floor, the water in the shower never stays one temperature, the walls are thin and we could hear literally every word that the neighbors said (and they were not being overly loud, just having normal conversations), could hear toilets flushing above, below, and to one side of us, the exercise equipment in the gym is very old and breaks often (especially the one nice treadmill), and it is just far enough from campus that it's a work out of a bike ride to get to CSM. Also, be prepared to fall often in the parking lot, as it is basically a huge ice sheet through most of winter (seriously, needed 4WD this winter mainly to get in and out of the parking lot, which was frustrating when we would see the snow removal service come in after the snow had melted and spray salt on dry roads). The price was right for Golden, as it is good sized (although the kitchen is not) and it's not so over the top expensive that it's not affordable. Overall we were not very impressed. It is a cheap place to live, and the apartments are old, so be prepared to deal with all the problems that come with it. If I were strapped for money I would live here again, but it was not a breeze. read more

We have been living here for more than a year. If I would have the possibility of living in another complex near Colorado School of Mines I would definitely move away. Apartments are old, bad quality furniture and overpainted to try to make it look better. After your contract ends, they unilaterally increase your rent and charge you an extra fee per month if you are staying less than a year. Parking spots are the worst! There are not enough parking spots for visitors and for residents neither (every night the towing company cames and towed residents cars that do not have the permit visible as they want, even though administration have the plate number of each resident car charging $250) Common areas are old and dirty, especially the stairways of each building, which are full of bird debris and spiderweb. Good things to say is that the view of Summit View is nice and that the external company that does maintenance fix the problems, (which are a lot) on time. read more

This place is a scam. I paid the manager $1600 to end my lease early; she informed me that they would only accept cash. I demanded a receipt which was given. Fast forward 4 years, I get served and they are saying that I never paid and that I left without notice. That's what these people will do to you. You will not get your deposit back, they will attack you for money years later. I'm sure that they will respond to this with a statement that states that I claiming that I never paid what I owed. I have since then, ran for mayor of Golden and received many votes in my favor. From a true Golden resident, DO NOT RENT FROM THESE CRIMINALS. They will abuse you, they will attack you years later. Bad management, bad people in general. As a member of the Golden Lions Club, as a Mayoral Candidate from 2015, and a future Mayoral candidate in 2019, I would be more than happy to direct people to a better situation than these people can offer you. Not an impressive apartment complex at all. Rates go up by large increments each year (I lived here 3 years in a 2 bedroom, from 2013 through 2016, and my rates went up from under $1,100/mo to over $1,300/mo in those three years). They've decided to hire an unnecessary towing company that tows almost primarily tenants' cars at their own expense (despite these cars being registered at the clubhouse) and takes it to downtown Denver for you to pick up and pay roughly $300 for (this happened to me and 2 of my friends who lived there as well). On top of this, a few years back they decided to install a "free" 'valet trash pickup' service. This service is advertised as a free service where you can set your trash out the night before and they will carry it 100 feet to the dumpster for you. This trash service is another way to make cheap money for the complex, as they will charge you extra fees if your trash is not fully bagged or is overflowing when taken and set out, or if you leave the can outside your door for more than a day. I ended up just taking my own trash out regularly even though the valet fee was added to the lease without them mentioning, and was not optional and I still paid for it. These services (which are certainly covered by you in the lease) are completely unnecessary, especially when this money could be put towards something useful such as a parking lot camera system. There were several cars broken into during my time there, including my roommate's, which had several hundred dollars worth stolen from it. These are just a few examples of this apartment complex investing in themselves rather than their tenants. The location is nice, and living conditions acceptable, which acts as an insurance for the complex who can keep managing their tenants poorly and still have enough demand to stay in business. read more

I lived in this apartment complex for a year and boy was it horrid! Our apartment was so dark and it felt like a dungeon it always smelled in the apartment usually of weed, smoke, or mold. There were days it was so hard to breath even with windows open. Then we had our carpet flood twice! Maintenance came in the first time and put fans on the carpet to dry it. During that time we had to live with the smell of wet dog in the apartment for those days even with the window open you couldn't breath without feeling sick. Once it dried they said they fixed it but really they just left it and so it flooded again and it took a week to dry it out. The same terrible smell came back and wouldn't go away.... It was terrible. There was mold growing on the ceilings in the apartment and our vent never worked properly. The walls were super thin I could hear the neighbors making love. Faucets leaked a lot. The dishwasher was never very good. They never cleaned our carpets or changed them after the floods. The apartment was very drafty especially! After we left they ended up charging us a ton of money for 4 months of sewer and water that was well overpriced. We also never received a copy of our lease so make sure you get that before you set foot into the property. If you decide to live here don't expect much. You will get less than what you pay for. read more
