!PLEASE READ! All of these reviews are very misleading! I'm a teenage girl so I was on the girls' unit which was said to be the most drama-filled and toxic unit. I was nervous and very uncomfortable and still very depressed the first time I went but after a couple of days, with the staff being very helpful and caring, I got better. Mario was the first staff member to be really nice to me. After I got better, I went home. 7 months later I had to go back, I had many outbursts and was very aggressive(not towards the other patients) but all the staff and other patients were very supportive and nice. Eventually, there were patients that just wanted to cause drama and trouble. I had to leave for being aggressive but then they accepted me back just a day later because nobody else would take me and because SUN Behavioral Health cares! I got better and was stable so I left and went home while I waited for a residential spot to open. I want to give some recognition to some of the staff for doing even more than asked and being so amazing and nice and caring: -Drew -Vickie -Seth -Gary -Bryce -Tyler Even extra thanks to Drew, Seth, and Tyler(mullet Tyler lol) no matter how many times I had an outburst or I punched and threw stuff, they would help and would only use restraint and sedatives as a last resort. I had to get restrained and given a sedative shot many times but each time, they were nice and caring about it. One time, Tyler just sat there with me, for a long time and just talked to me after one of my outbursts. He waited and waited until I was better then went back to his job. There was one therapist who dismissed our feelings as if they were nothing but many girls filed a grievance and she wasn't on our unit(2NE) as much anymore. Dr. R wasn't always listening to what the patient really wanted. He was supposed to test me for ADHD but never did it. But he does give good advice. I still use a piece of advice he gave me: My feelings are not in my control but my actions are in my control. I have so many good things to say that it outweighs the bad. Overall, the next time I ever need to have inpatient therapy, SUN will be my go-to. I have been 3 times now and they are my favorite and I always feel safe there. read more

It's not a horrible place. There are some there that really seem to care. Then you have a few that are completely rude and just hateful. People are there because they are sick and they treat them like a pile of trash. I would love to name some names but I won't. You know who you are. Shame on you. Also, there is nothing constructive to do all day unless you like to color or eat. No games, only group therapy. I just can't get over how RUDE some of those people can be. I mean it is just unbelievable. People there are SICK, some suicidal and they treat them like trash. Sad. Get ahold of yourselves. Better yet, go and get a different job If you can't treat people with respect. It shouldn't be just a paycheck. read more

Your facility is a most inhumane treatment facility. Your entire staff including doctors, nurses, "so called" group therapy counselers that happens for maybe 20-25 minutes per day is a joke. Dr. Toro and Jennifer Mullins are the worst Psychiatric doctors that ever existed. The fact that your nursing staff "laughs" at you and thinks because you are walking for excersice due to being sat in front of a tv or put in your room with no human contact is considered a "manic" experience is ridiculous. The only "medical doctor" I saw one time, informed me my legs were swelling due to the "High Sodium" content of the cafeteria food. I will mention names, due to the horrible treatment and to warn others never ever, ever end up in SUN Behaivoral Health-you will regret the experience forver. read more

Be aware that you will need an ID to visit. The website says all personal items need to be left in the car. I was told by a nurse that when I visit I can not bring anything with me. My husband drove and I didn't want to leave my wallet in the car so I didn't bring it. At the desk was a very rude and demeaning woman who at that point informed me I must have an ID. Now I'm sitting in the car while my husband visits. First advise people more clearly in what they will need to visit. Second they are a paid facility and thus should have appropriately behaving employees at the desk. read more

Do not let these people Assess or take charge of your children. They will not give them a safe place to go and they will sick the police and cps on your family. If you think you have problems now, It will get way worse by trusting them with your childs mental health. Their outpatient facility does not help them at all and they will only meet children worse than them and make contacts even worse than they had before. Stay Away! read more

If you're looking to dump someone just to get rid of them, this is the place. My ex has been taking here by St. E. several times. The last 2 times he claimed he was desperate to get mental health help. I called after he was admitted to speak with a counselor to give my knowledge about his situation and offer proof of what's going on with him. Out of shame he will not be honest about his mental health issues. There is help if he could be treated. I was asked for a code. I explained he'd just been admitted. She hatefully insisted she could not speak to me without a code. I said I had information that would help him. She literally hung up the phone in my ear. My ex said all he gets hear is a room and group meetings he can't stand. I've known him for 40 years and they had absolutely no desire to hear my concerns or knowledge of his situation. It's a money grab obviously. VERY VERY SAD!!! People actually want help and they don't care. It's protocol which is merely an excuse to NOT CARE. read more

I wish that I could give them less stars. My son was there, I never got updates from them like I was supposed to. When I call to get one they were annoyed and acted inconvenienced. Every day when I went to visit, they never knew what was going on or where we were going. They would take forever to get us I to the visit then longer to get him cutting into our visit time. They were supposed to help us find doctors for after care and did not. I have been waiting over a month for records with multiple unanswered voicemails. This place is a joke. They just medicate people to a zombie and do nothing to actually help with the problems. read more

It is a mixed bag in my opinion. I deal with bipolar disorder (as diagnosed separately by six different medical professionals, both doctors and therapists) and have sometimes had to go to SUN and it's predecessor St. Elizabeth. Compared to its predecessor, it is absolutely amazing. However, there are some issues. I would say the biggest issue is that they should give both access to a priest and they should give non meat options on Ash Wednesday and the Fridays of Lent. Y'all live in a heavily Catholic community and these are things that kindergarten children know about Catholics. read more

The positive: The staff that we had contact with were friendly. The negative: Even though they admitted to never spending any one-on-one time with my son, they disagreed with the diagnosis of his doctor and psychologist who spent months with him and did extensive testing. We were not allowed to even speak to the "doctor" on staff. They completely ignored clear instructions from us about our son's medication, which set us back. They told us that he would be released around dinnertime, but that they would call ahead and let us know the specific time. We called back around 7:00 to check on the status only to be told that he was already released and had been waiting for us to pick him up. Our son came home worse off and it took weeks to get back to where we were before. The conclusion: The staff is nice but does not communicate well with each other. Maybe it's a helpful place for addiction, I don't know, but I would stay far away if you're dealing with mental health issues. read more

The place is a joke. All I was trying to do was get a form that has my information on it with their address to be able to submit to the dmv. Well let me tell you it took 2 1/2 weeks. They will direct your call to another person 3 times, saying they can't do it.. finally I was told to come up to the location by Sheniqua or however you spell her name. and when I get there the only person who is able to help me HER went to lunch. Even though she told me that she was going 2 hours earlier. So just sitting here waiting for her to get back, so unorganized. Get your evaluation completed somewhere else. Also Kimberly another awful person at this location. She NEVER answers her phone. Like who do you think you are, you never call back or pick up the phone. Probably one of your worst employees. read more

absolute AWFUL place. if your child is transgender they will place you in a unit with their assigned gender. in my case, i am transgender male to female and was placed in a male unit. i got bullied multiple times and staff did absolutely nothing to stop it, even when i told them. if i got mad or upset at the person discriminating against me they would send everyone to their room or station. so everyone would blame me. a main incident that happened was i was put on unit-restriction by ms audrey for something I DIDN'T EVEN DO. and when i explained what happened i was told that i would still have to stay on unit-restriction because ms audrey wasn't on shift. ABSOLUTE BS. then when i got mad they restrained me and shot me in my hip without doing ANYTHING to help. also without parent consent or mine. they restrain you or put you in seclusion basically if they dont want to deal with you. also i was misgendered and deadnamed multiple times by staff and the teacher. place is absolutely awful. do not send anyone you love and actually care about here. i came in with issues and came out with more. this place NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN for gods sake. read more
