The package price was extremely reasonable, with a small down payment required at our appointment. There was plenty of free parking, both on the side of the building and on W 7th St, and the location was easy to find and access - it shares an entryway with Growler in a cool old brick building with green trim. One of the many backgrounds inside was the exposed red brick wall! Our experience was so great from my mom making the appointment to Libby's skill and warmth at our session that we've decided to make getting our portraits at the Photographer's Guild an annual Thanksgiving tradition.

Our daughter, 14, is naturally nervous in new situations - but John created such a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere that she "fell right into place." His studio is super cool, located in a historic warehouse, recently renovated in NE MPLS. It has a rustic, yet fashionable feeling, with neat wood floors and a huge metal door that opens up to a old loading dock. When we left our daughter asked if John would be shooting for all the events in the future. And we giggled. Probably not. But that's what she was hoping for. :-)

We used Graddy Photography for our wedding…read more At the time, I wrote down a mini-review: We were SO impressed with them. I can't state enough how nice they were, how professional they were, and how unobtrusive they were. We actually got comments about how nice it was to have photogs that didn't push people around or exercise the "photographer's right" to disrupt important things for the sake of a picture. They took over 1500 pictures (we decided to do digital) and they've just been great to work with. It was also really nice to have the two photographers there (really, for the price of one). We haven't seen the pictures yet (it's only 2 days after the wedding) but we love the stuff that they did before, and we let them "do their thing" so it should be great. Highly recommend them. So it should be a 5-star review, yes? Well. . . What happened was not their fault, exactly. There was some kind of technical failure with one of the cameras. While a lot of the pictures turned out good-to-great, there were some VERY important ones (like the formal shots of my side of the family) that were completely blurry (or, rather, focused on one side and blurry on the other...it was very much an equipment error). Cue bridal tears. I have not a single formal picture of my family and I only (well, maybe) get married once. It was really heartbreaking. We contacted them about the problem, and they did offer us *some* sort of compensation (I think it was a free photo book or something), but it really didn't go far enough. Also: We had to contact *them* about the issue. Even though they went through and edited the pictures, they didn't tell us about the failure--they just didn't include those pictures at all. When I asked where they were (because we had a shot list and I knew we had taken them) then they explained what had happened. I understand that stuff happens and they were still great to work with, but it was truly disappointing in that small area. I should also say that this was in 2006--so they would presumably have more experience and better equipment now.

I have worked with a lot of photographers and dealt with the good, the bad and the ugly. Justin and Crissy were none of the good nor bad, definitely good! The Graddy team was both professional and fun to work with. We had seven adults, four young children and one dog to deal for them to handle. Our family opted for outdoor pictures and the cold proved... cold for the children! Justin and Crissy worked right through a few tears, naps needed and a dog noticing everything running around the park. Despite the hard moments and uncooperative kids, the pictures Justin took were fantastic! He got all the pictures we requested, as well as his own ideas. To top things off, we received our CD of pictures WITHIN a week, even with it being a short Holiday week! And to me, that is definitely worth the 5 stars!
