Nice collection of Matthew Yellowman pieces!

A lot of the shops in Santa Fe feel like they are either (1) super expensive art galleries or (1) just packed with stuff. Sun Country Traders is different; there's plenty of space to move around and things aren't grotesquely overpriced. To me, this is the most interesting thing about this shop. The owners/workers seem to be very laid-back. No heavy sales pressure, and they seem just glad to chat a while! I was in here looking at some Navajo folk art carvings. The worker I spoke with was knowledgeable and unassuming, which I found very refreshing. I didn't end up buying anything, but if something had caught my eye, I definitely would've bought it here. I will be back.

I just bought a ring from here on our visit to Santa Fe and had such a great experience with the staff and their prices are very reasonable. Besides beautiful jewelry, some of the other cool stuff I saw were drums and arrows. I usually feel awkward going into a place to pick jewelry from the display counters because I didn't want to feel pressured to buy anything that I didn't love. However, here the staff was understood that I didn't want to spend too much and still were so helpful, giving me tips like how the altitude might affect my ring size and which rings are more sturdy for people like me who forget to take them off when I wash my hands and stuff. Plus, the staff were so knowledgeable about the rings (how they were made, how to best clean them, etc.) which made the process of picking a ring very interesting. I bought a great ring after trying several different ones for a very reasonable price of $22. Definitely make a stop at this store in downtown Santa Fe. You can find some awesome gifts and souvenirs for guys and girls.

Their prices are usually quite fair compared to other places, and they carry a good range of Zuni & Navajo products among others.

I highly recommend because the Natives are licensed for permits to sell in Santa Fe. The jewelry is authentic and high quality stones and metals . I recommend paying with cash (service fee card) . I purchased quite a few pieces for myself and family for gifts.

Vendors are mostly kind. Their self made products, mostly with turquoise are wonderful. The opaque, blue-to-green turquoise is a mineral. Persian stones from Nishapur (of Iran) is used as a guiding reference for evaluating turquoise quality. Navajo and Hopi tribes are known to produce high quality turquoise jewelry. The top two of the following 4 kinds of turquoise are widely used in Santa Fe area: Sleeping Beauty Turquoise  Kingman Turquoise  Bisbee   Royston  They (including the stores as well) prize Sleeping Beauty for its consistent sky-blue color. However, it's no longer being mined (?), while Kingsman has brilliant blue color, but it isn't as precious as SL due to the fact that they're still abundantly being mined. One native vendor explained how the program work: They've a committee, to determine the eligibility (sometimes vendor has to go before the committee to demonstrate their skills - like making a piece). The covered corridor has 63 spaces, each marks with a white number. If the vendors are more than the spaces, they'll have to do a lottery, which means a particular vendor may not come tomorrow. In General, a particular vendor doesn't come everyday.  On the last day there, I purchased a bracelet from a generous man, who explains the logos are his name and his daughter's. When I pay, he tells me a less amount voluntarily. I was a little hesitate. Although I like bargains and discounts, but I don't ask for it with small vendor, especially with the artist him or herself.  "Are you sure?" I asked. Actually I was not 100% sure what he had quoted me earlier.  "Yes, it looks so nice on your wrist." I paid what he asked. Thank you.

It helps so there isn't as much crowding while you're trying to go through. I have been to farmers markets in multiple states, but I have never seen one with a gift shop! That was very interesting to see. The market itself had a nice array of fresh produce, food, and artists' work. It was cool getting to see them roasting fresh chile and the band that played was soo much fun! The best booth for us was Dancing Turtle Studio. Absolutely stunning pieces of art and my guy bought me one of the hot air balloon pieces to commemorate our 1st anniversary. It honestly couldn't have been more perfect! The artist herself was incredibly sweet and wonderful to talk with. It was amazing getting to hear about her process as well!

We had a bit of traffic getting closer & finding parking as it's pretty limited. Also be prepared to pay $1-3 for parking at the stall. There's outdoor and indoor vendors. Lots of farmers selling their fresh produce near the front! I tried a blue maize pupusa on the indoor vendor for $10 & it was pretty cool to try. I'd recommend to add some salsa or the cream since the pupusa is pretty dry. Bring cash as well where you can save 50 cents on some items Lots of galleries & artists & jewelers if you keep walking down as well.
