I have short hair and I wanted long extensions to do a half and half updo. She color matched my extensions exactly to my hair color and did exactly what I wanted her to do with my hair and it turned out absolutely beautiful! She also did my new mother-in-law's hair and my matron of honor's hair and they looked absolutely gorgeous also. She gave me the best shave I had in a while - and really helped me understand how to plan for my next haircut, she even wrote down the style of cut and lengths I should ask for if I didn't make it back to her for my next cut (I lived out of the country at the time of the haircut and was just visiting) Since I have moved back to Maine, I wanted Sierra to cut my hair again - so I called and asked if I Sierra was there, a woman confirmed she was there - but told me I couldn't schedule an appointment with her, because the business is strictly walk-in only. I asked to speak to Sierra and she just pretended like I didn't even ask, and said that if I, "Come right now, since no one is in the shop." I could probably get her. So... Sierra - 5 stars. I was really looking to have a regular visit with you. The business structure just doesn't work for me, as I have limited time and require appointments. To the business... 2/5. And here's why: Prices are fair. the only good experience with the business itself. When I moved back to Maine 6-8 weeks ago - I called and explained my experience with Sierra and explained I forgot her name/what chair she was at. I said I think it was the first chair - and the lady who answered the phone goes, "Oh! I remember you, yeah!" and told me to come in. When I got in, I let her know she definitely wasn't the person who cut my hair and she let me know it was Sierra. I asked this new girl, let's call her "First chair lady"... not to cut the right side of my hair and to let it grow. She got distracted with conversation - and completed trimmed 3/4" off the right side of my head... That I was attempting to grow out entirely and completely screwed up the plan and path that Sierra helped me understand would give me the desired hairstyle. Cut was $14 - I gave her $20 and told her to keep it. Even when you displease me as a customer, I still treat your employees well. And you can't let me build a relationship with one person in your shop? Absurd. So, to anyone reading: 1.) Don't let the lady in the first chair cut your hair. Or if you do - make sure she doesn't talk with the other girls in the shop when she is cutting your hair. 2.) Sierra is truly an example of a professional who enjoys and understands her duties - and executes them exceptionally well. (second chair, I learned that after the mistake of a haircut I was given on my last visit) 3. They don't do appointments apparently. Good luck with the barber chair roulette. It took me TWO MONTHS to get the right side of my hair back where it was. Now I have to try to find another barber shop. -.- If you read this Sierra - Please post a reply so I can get in contact with you. I would absolutely pay you, with a generous tip - if you could find a way to cut my hair privately, outside of your working hours... Since your business can't accommodate my schedule. Thanks Sierra.

THIS IS AN UPDATE TO MY REVIEW 4th May 2023…read more I doubt you could get the worst service from gold star cleaners in old town, Maine than I received today. I dropped off my academic robes earlier in the week with a promise they would be ready today. Instead, when I called the outlet tonight, I was told there was no sign of them, and they did not know where they were. A bit of a worry, to say the least. So their poorly trained but delightfully polite member of staff called their manager, who told them he was going to call all the shops to try and find it. Luckily they did find it still at the depot shortly afterward. When. I spoke to the manager they were not prepared to do anything to help me. I was told that they could get it to the old town outlet by 6 pm, giving the impression this would be a massive problem for them and for them to be offering such an amazing service, I should really be thankful for this "compromise" (remember I been told it would be available first thing in the morning today) and he would not change his timing to held a distressed customer. By this time, I had already been at the shop for 40 minutes, and the manager suggested I simply wait another hour and 15 minutes until they could be bothered to drive the 15 minutes from Brewer to old town to fix their mistake was simply ludicrous. Talk about a lack of customer service. During our conversation, I offered several compromises to get my robes to me only to be told they, "We're not The post office or UPS," which is clearly true as they have things like tracking numbers and helpful employees to help customers find out about the service they have bought. I can only hope my robes are there tomorrow, but sadly I fear the worst. So here are my rankings Customer service 0 Helpfulness of management 0 Problem resolution 0 Concern 0 Courtesy of shop staff is very good, the management 0 Do not use, go anywhere else but Gold Star Dry cleaning Up date, when I wore my robes on Friday I have to say the quality of the cleaning was very poor (see photo) that stain looked like it hadn't been cleaned at all. They also lacked the fresh dry cleaned smell you except. This led me to propose a scenario of events. Thursday my items were misplaced" aka lost, and not cleaned. The delay involved the depot doing a rush job on them, effectively a quick press and race to the shop to save place and no dry cleaning, or cleaning at all for that matter. So I can now add to my scores: standard of cleaning, very poor. This led me to do more research on the company, all I can say is I wish I'd looked at their reviews on the Better Buisness Beureau as they seem to be reflective of the service than the 3.8 average they have here and in Yelp, where clearly they are using friends to get a higher review. What is us laughable is this quote from their website. " We take pride in being the best and we back it up 100%. If you're not 100% satisfied in any way we'll clean your garment again at no cost. If we can't make it right, I'll give you your money back! Quality, service and your complete satisfaction are our main goals." talk about misleading advertising. Not that I'm asking for my money back that bird has flow, as I'll never set foot in one of their hovels ever again. All I want to do is prevent any reader of this review from receiving the same horrific service & bad treatment, because as customers receiving this "service", we deserve better, and you can get that better service just about anywhere else.
