I really love this market because it's so food-focused, which is like "duh" with all the beautiful farms in the immediate vicinity.. but many of the "farmer's markets" I visit at home in DFW are overrun with crafts, so it's nice to be at one that's truly focused on local farmers. We bought fantastic green garlic, onions, asparagus, shiitake mushrooms, kiwis and bananas, apples, grapefruit and oranges, fresh rosemary, orange marmalade and cranberry pepper jam, a white lemon balsamic vinegar, our favorite Valley Ford farmers cheese, a lovely strip steak, and a bouquet of flowers to enjoy during our short visit. We thought the prices were great and even a bargain for the quality of food. And we got a little purple Healdsburg Farmer's Market t-shirt for Winnie!

There was lots of beautiful produce and we ended up buying enormous trumpet mushrooms and zucchini. We grilled them both with just a little olive oil, salt, and pepper, and they were so perfect. We also bought a giant box of blueberries, a jar of orange blossom honey (that we brought home with us and still use), and lots of cheese! Aside from all the produce, cheese, and honey, you'll find handmade crafts like baskets and jewelry, a paella stand, flowers, live music, smoked meats, art, and more. It's in a great location too, right in the center of the little downtown, so there's bars, restaurants, and shopping all right there.

It's very small (maybe a dozen booths in all) and has a limited selection BUT - this is the woods near the coast, this is hand-crafts central! And, true to form, the regulars here have some pretty great stuff. I was especially impressed with the hand-made jams, and the waffles smelled spectacular. The biggest reason to make the trek out here though? Besides it being one of the most beautiful drives in the world, this tiny Farmer's Market has the best abalone shell jewelry I have ever seen, anywhere. They get it from the beaches right next door and work on it in ways I've never seen anywhere else. If you're looking for a unique gift, or really like abalone, there is some cool stuff here! That, and the beach/campground a hundred yards away is one of the most beautiful, sandy (sandy!) beaches in the whole area. Check it out!

We took note that this is an ecological farm using regenerative grazing practices, and yes we had to dig deeper into their website to find out exactly what that means. We picked up a dozen farm fresh eggs ($10) some farm made breakfast sausage (which was delicious), and large pork sausage, which we can't wait to try. Easy to connect to their free WiFi at the farm shop and pay via Venmo. Nothing better than a true backroads find!

The Good: *You can purchase some of their homegrown meats to use at your campground. *Lone shared restroom was very not bad for an outhouse. *Multiple campsites along the Estero *You can also purchase wood to burn in the camp firepit *Located in Tomales, not too far from the ocean, it probably doesn't get too hot like most summer campgrounds are prone to getting. *Cell signal (Xfinity) was actually pretty decent in some spots. The Meh: *Directions to campground is a little confusing at first. The Ugly: *It's still camping and sleeping in a tent on an air mattress is still a nightmare. Conclusion: Still not a big fan of camping but this place is very not bad.
