This is my first year with Dr. Jain as my PCP through Hill Physicians HMO. This doctor is kind and friendly, you get the sense that she cares. Seems very knowledgeable and performs a thorough examination, better than I was usually receiving for an annual physical. She referred my for a first time colonoscopy due to my age. I probably never would have had this important test done if it had not been for her suggestion. She also referred my to an excellent dermatologist. I saw Dr . JAIN last week. Basically she needs to retire. If Dr Jain is not a gyno, then she should not be performing gynocologist stuff. She asked me if I had a gyno. I told her no. So why she did not refer me to a gyno the day I saw her.. When it comes to my health, I want a doctor to be rto take care of the results as soon as possible. I've been seeing Dr. Jain for years now concerning a cornucopia of ailments both nameable and unnameable in a public forum. Whatever the issue, Dr. Jain has always been there to provide a remedy in a timely fashion. You'll read in many reviews that she is to the point, no nonsense, doesn't beat around the bush. All these things are true, but they come from a little woman who also has a real friendly attitude. Don't take her willingness to get right to the point as her wanting to rush through the process. It just means you'll spend less time small talking and more time getting to the root of the problem. Her office staff is also friendly and willing to accomodate you. One of my chief complaints about doctors is that they can be difficult to talk with or render medical judgments without clear explanations. I want to know what has gone into their diagnosis and why the treatment was chosen, what to expect during treatment, and what other options may be. I give Doctor Jain four stars because she is a great communicator and has a friendly professional manner. My wife and I both like her work, she is easy to talk to and is no-nonsense. She has always been courteous and professional and helpfully works to help us with whatever issues we are having. Worst doctor ever. Very rude, not caring, she basically don't want to see you , she doesn't trying to understand the problem and just want to brush you off. Her assistant is just as bad. Had a serious problem and Dr Jain just said I don't know what it is a and goodbye. When I called to get a refer to a specialist her assistant never got back to me, called and left few messages after a week and a half she finally did said she'll be back to me. Dr. Jain (pronounced 'Jan') is the best doctor I've ever had. As a 28-year old man, I always seem to have too much going on in my life to try and fit a doctors appointment in as well. Having Dr. Jain as my PCP for the last few years, however, has actually made me more conscious of my own health and my need for routine checkups. I think the primary reason that I've been staying on top of things (besides her patience, sense of humour, or professionalism) is the level of comfort she provides. She's not overbearing, she doesn't throw a pill into our mouth for every little thing, and she's willing to work with you to find your best treatment options. Only recently have I had issues with getting certain forms filled out in a timely manner, and I've had a few communication gaps and issues with the office staff, but this review is solely based on my interactions with Sunita. I would highly recommend Dr. Jain to be your physician. I think Dr. Jain is great! And that's coming from someone who has seen a lot of Dr.'s in my time... She is to the point but is always willing to listen and answer any questions you might have. She is professional and thorough. She is also surprisingly funny. Never made it into even get a check up...customer service is missing....knowledge is missing....I don't think the lady that answers the phone knows what to do...but even with that..follow up is key to running a business...it's taking over 24 hours to guess what..just set up an appointment....maybe the government shutdown is to blame..who knows! Now I'm on hold for 10 minutes when I spoke with this lady an hour ago....which tells me she worked on nothing for that past hour regarding to what I needed....an appointment....this is pretty sad... read more

I switched insurance and moved from Kaiser to Western Health. I chose Dr. Jain after checking a lot of reviews on various medical sites. I've been pleased thus far. We had a long chat about my medical history on my first visit and she followed that up with a full physical - and I had not had one of those in years. She has been very good about requesting follow-up tests. She isn't a chatty doctor. I come in with information and my questions and she is brisk with her responses, but I'm usually in a hurry so that's fine for me. She's responsive to e-mails. Her office staff can be hit and miss in scheduling - they messed up one appointment and for another I had a card with date and time and didn't get a reminder so I called and they never booked it. So I'd say follow-up. But, overall I am pleased thus far. read more

I love Dr. Jain. She has been my primary doctor for the past seven years. She is to the point but in the same way your best friend would be. She is professional, funny, comforting and always offers great suggestions or treatments. When I call and leave a message for her nurse about a particular Rx, question or referral, its not uncommon for Dr. Jain to contact me directly in between her busy schedule which I really appreciate. I am shocked at the negative reviews. I am not sure what people expect out of their doctors...a back rub and some Enya playing the background? I switched insurances and had to locate a doctors office in my neighborhood and I found Dr. Sunita Jain reviews online. I wanted a to find a doctors office I could get an appointment with same day if I were sick. I read the reviews and I thought I would give her a shot. Upon arrival the office wasn't difficult to find, plenty of parking, and the front desk staff was professional. My wait was about 10 mins before I was taken back and once in the exam room I waited another 5 mins for the doctor to come in. My last doctor would have me in the waiting room for 30+ mins. He always over booked himself and then you would wait another 30 mins in the exam room. I was happy with my wait times. Dr. Jain walked through the door and was very polite and kind. She listened to my medical history and seemed concerned about my well being. She didn't rush me. Nor did she take too much time with me either, she's not a therapist, I personally wanna be in and out of a doctors office especially when I am sick. Everything went well and I was very happy with my visit. Last month I had my physical and I had the chance to see Dr. Jain again and my thoughts have not changed about her. I felt that she still cared about my health. She even called me with my blood results to go over everything within a couple days. My last doctor always forgot to call or he would try to get me in for an appointment to go over labs and bill my insurance. Patients beware: This physician has a hard time admitting she is wrong, which is scary because she doesn't necessarily have all the correct information. Wow. I went to see Jain as my primary physician and she was great at the first visit: she made sure I was up to date on all my tests and such. That's where it all fell apart. It turned out that I had a lump in my breast. From there she was distant, combative, and dismissive when I tried to discuss my diagnostic options. Not only did she NOT know about various diagnostic options, she insisted I was wrong when I brought them up. It got to the point where I had to insist that she call the radiologist who she referred me to to confirm that there were, in fact, several different options that I could take. When she returned, instead of apologizing for not being current and for repeatedly telling me that I was wrong, she simply stated: "This is not working out." I'm curious if she takes this attitude with her other patients: Getting rid of them when she doesn't know all the answers. Had I followed her advice, I would have been diagnosed with a method that would not have been able to locate the lump with the dangerous possibility of a bad biopsy. I have since filed a grievance with my insurance company regarding her and with the California medical licensing board to ensure that she gets continuing education. If you are happy with her, at least do some research on your own to make sure you are aware of all your options because she will not necessarily know about them. read more

I just can't believe the above reviews from the experience I just had . It was horrible . I really was hoping for a dr who listens and cares about my health concerns . But I also asked for a referral to a thyroid specialist in my area since I don't have one. When I mentioned that she basically just shoved me out . She snickered when I talked about things that were a concern . And is she too proud? To have me see two drs ? Why would that matter I still wanted to talk to her about other health issues I was having and she addressed none of them . I like her a lot. She's very personable, with a bit of wry humor peeking through. She referred me to an excellent surgeon. I'm all naturopathic and anti-pill. She teases me about it, and asks what my justifications are, with a twinkle in her eye. She's not happy that I hardly ever get mammograms, and wants to know my reasoning. I'm very comfortable with her. She's a warm human being, rather than some of the arrogant M.D.'s I've encountered. Amazingly, with her, I really don't mind going to the doctor. Sending medications to wrong pharmacy and finding it on my own with any help whatsoever from these people for more than a day. I have been a patient of Dr. Jain's for several years and I am definitely a fan! I'm not easy to impress either as I had a doctor for 20+ years that retired who was the absolute best (Dr. Jain has earned 4 1/2 stars but she is on her way to making 5 stars and she's almost there)! Dr. Jain is flexible, she listens, she's open and honest, she refers me to specialists without hesitation and yes, she is a no nonsense doctor. I was very disappointed with my experience with Dr. Jain. Maybe she was having a bad day, but I was not happy with how things went at all. I came to her office with concerns regarding my health and she seemed very detached. She didn't ask me very many questions or really get to know my health/body at all. She seemed much more focused on what was going on outside the exam room than what was going on with me as her patient. She came in with a bad attitude and left the room immediately after her introduction. She then left the door open, and proceeded to go yell at her receptionists for scheduling an appointment at the wrong time. I don't expect perfection from anyone, especially in the stressful position of a physician. However, I do expect professionalism, and this visit was horrific. She had an attitude from the moment she walked in the exam room. I will not be returning to her office, and I will not be recommending her to any of my friends. This was such a disappointment for me. I had been going to Dr. Jain for at least 15 years plus as my primary doctor. I am not a person who will run to the doctor for every ache & pain. If an issue has than had to be addressed I would see her. Last November I had to go to the ER Room for pain in my back shoulder blade on a Sunday. They did a CT scan of my neck and was given pain medications and sent home. The instructions by the ER doctor was to contact my primary care doctor Monday. I called the following day to make an appointment but was told, since I had not seen her for the time frame they had set in their policy, they could not get me in until I had an appointment to be re-established as a patient. The soonest they could see me was close to two weeks (10 working days). No exceptions could be made even if I did schedule a physical later and the opportunity to see her sooner. I asked if they could ask her personally and they said they could not even though I was a patient of hers for many years. I would not have gone to the ER if it wasn't painful. I ended up changing my medical group that same day so I could get an appointment with a doctor. Within a few hours of me changing my medical group, her office called me back and said they could help me, but my then it was too late. It seems the office staff had more authority and lack of empathy than her. My experience over the years had not been terrible with her or Susan but the medical records were never complete. My medical records did not include the back surgery or knee surgery I had had under her referrals. If you are looking for a Doctor or Doctor Office that will assist you in the time of need, this is not the Doctor office to go to. read more

Dr. Jain is a wonderful doctor - she asks plenty of questions, takes time to explain what is going on, and always follows up. Plus, when I just need to get a prescription renewed, I can call it in and stop by to pick it up on the way home. Dr. Jain has been my doctor every since she came to Sacramento at least 15 years ago. She is caring, determine to find the right help for your health issues and has the best bedside manner. She has helped me in so many ways with my multiple health issues and is always willing to listen, guide you and answer any questions one might have. I am also going to warn prospective patients to BEWARE. I saw Dr. Jain about 2 years ago from the referral of a friend. My first visit went well. But, when I really needed an understanding, compassionate Dr. that is where everything went downhill. I had to go into the emergency room on a Friday (on the advice of Dr. Jains office because they don't have same day appts) for a severe headache. I was diagnosed with a sinus infection, given medication and sent home. My condition got worse over the weekend and I had to go into the emergency room 2 more times. A CT scan was run, I had a spinal tap done to detect for meningitus, massive amounts of bloodwork,etc. I couldn't walk, my vision was blurry. First thing on Monday I contacted Dr. Jain's office and briefly gave an account of my situation, they wouldn't see me for 4 days. When I went in for my appt the nurse said "oh, so you have a sinus infection?" I calmly said "no". When Dr. Jain came in I could tell that she was detached and absolutely without empathy to my situation, she even seemed irritated. She gave me a physical, just to go through the motions of pretending to do her job. She told me there was nothing she could do that the emergency room Drs hadn't done already. I was furious that I had wasted four days to get a lackluster "I can't help you" response. I get the impression that she either likes you or doesn't and unfortunately I was on the bad list. I called around to other Drs. got an appt next day as a new patient (with Dr. Robert Tang - who is great) was sent to a neurologist the next week and was finally diagnosed with migranes.
