Good find in Campbell River for breakfast. For me at least. Standard breakfast fare that satisfied my hungry whims. Friendly Filipino owners that were happy I popped in for a visit/meal. I didn't order chicken adobo. I didn't need the rice that early in the morning. Gave me enough fuel for my trek to Elk Falls. In Campbell River for a minute and decided to grab some brunch. Picked a local place here on Yelp, but the reviews outlined a careless attitude about their patrons during Covid so full no. Sunny Day had good reviews, so off we go. Boy are we glad we did. This place is truly a hidden gem on one of the back streets and in a small strip mall. Seek it out, you won't be disappointed. The place is filled with energy, great staff and a wide range of patrons from young to the not so young. It's sparsely decorated with no real theme, but the place was very clean. There was a lady cleaning surfaces pretty much the entire time we were there. We had breakfast, so I can only comment on that. The portions were larger than they appeared on the plate and while I managed to eat all mine the lovely K left some potatoes. The bacon was excellent, the turkey sausages the same and had a distinctive turkey taste, not something you typically notice. We thought the place was an easy five star, perhaps even more. The next time we are in Campbell River, we will stop in again for sure! read more

Good service /had an omelet (more expensive that Dolphins Resort).Coffee was a nice strong blend. Potatoes over salted - could not eat. Tips start at 15% - what ever happened to 10%. Tips are out of range!! I am a Senior and find that $30.00 for an omelet and coffee is excesssive. Wii look around for a more economical venue - And not the McD and T/H variety. We, 2 adults & 2 kids, were there for breakfast and had a very disappointing experience: We had to wait not "a little bit" but more than 70 minutes to be served our breakfast. Moreover, other customers (locals?) who came after us were served all before us!!! What a discriminatory and unacceptable treatment... the waitress (and owner) replied upon our complaint just "oh, I'm sorry"...that's it. During the 70 minutes waiting time nothing was offered, not even some bread, despite obviously hungry kids... No discount or tangible gesture (eg. one free coffee...) was granted, just nada! We cannot recommend this place where foreigners are treated so badly! read more

Beyond delicious! Highly recommended. I went in at 920am with breakfast in mind. Then I saw that there was chicken adobo on the menu and immediately my decision was made. They weren't serving lunch yet though, however, the owner/server said she would make it for me and OH MY GOD! DELICIOUS beyond words. I did my food dance and ate happily until I was stuffed. The ownership is tremendous, everything is made in house except the ice cream, food quality is truly exceptional. On my first visit I thought it was expensive until I saw the servings and the quality. Seems like I lost track of current pricing. Sunny Day Cafe on Tuesday and Sundays is very busy. Sometimes, there is a wait, but it's worth it. If you do not too wait, just call ahead to check on wait time. I love fresh homemade made food. Such a welcoming service, the staffs are amazing- which exceeded my expectations, the ambiance is just superb.. excellent tasting latte, not to mention the mouth watering desserts ! We wanted to support local restaurants during this time and found this one! Didn't disappoint! It's a cafe with a handful (probably just 2) Filipino food in their menu. I of course ordered the tapsilog - Filipino marinated beef strips, garlic fried rice and egg. So yummy! Love the saltiness of the tapa and the crispy bits of fried rice! The Filipina host was very friendly. She immediately acknowledged our presence when we came in and was very courteous. She got excited to see a fellow Filipino! Lol! They follow strict Covid cleanliness rules. They should put more Filipino food in the menu in my opinion :) read more

I am visiting from Sacramento, California and my auntie brought me to Sunny Day Cafe with a large group. The food was very good and so delicious. Fresh cook to order dishes and clean. I had the tagsilog which is marinated strips of beef, with fried garlic rice topped with a fried egg accompanied with a green salad. One person was on a vegan diet in our group and they accommodated her by making a fried rice with vegetables for her (not on the menu). The service was friendly and fast for a group of 20 people. I highly recommend this place and would definitely return again. read more

Looks small on the outside but when you get in, ambiance is great. They are very accommodating and you'll just see smiles all around. Their Tapsilog, German pancake, chicken quesadillas are to die for. Even the regular classic breakfast is great! Will go back for sure this week and take pictures this time. read more
