My wife and I stayed at the Granada Guest House for 5 nights, before traveling to other parts of…read moreEurope, and then returned for 5 more after we got back! The owners looked after the bags we did not need, and locked them securely away until we returned. We stayed in room #2, which was on the first floor (second floor for our American friends!) and had both a double bed and a single bed, as well as a wash basin in the room, a kettle and a TV. This room also has an en-suite bathroom, with bathtub/shower. Julia and Pat Hastings, the owners, are wonderful people, and as you will see if you search for this guest house on the web, everyone agrees that the Hastings can't do enough for you. The breakfasts are awesome: Cereal, fruit, sausages, beans, tomatoes, eggs, mushrooms, hash-browns, toast, tea, coffee, orange juice... the list goes on! As long as you're not leaving at 2am, Julia will make sure breakfast is ready for you on YOUR schedule! Where else would you get that kind of service? Be sure to talk to Pat about his experiences working on the Channel Tunnel! He has some great stories. Would we stay there again? Definitely! Julia and Pat are looking to retire, and to be frank, they deserve the rest, because they work harder to make you feel at home, than your mom does. If they retire from this business, it'll be a loss for Folkestone, and if you didn't stay there, you will have missed out!

You have no idea how grateful I am to them to have been given a room for the night. The room was big, bright, clean, comfortable and so welcoming. The owners were even better. My day had been traumatic, but their warm welcome and comfortable room soon put me at ease. The breakfast was outstanding. I shall not soon forget their kindness, and would recommend their B&B to anyone.

The Lighthouse has recently changed ownership and certainly improved service and food since the change. My experience of the Lighthouse is just the restaurant part but for its situation it is very convenient for stop overs pre Calais crossings and in a lovely peaceful spot(my parents currently live just down the road from it). As far as the restaurant goes, unfortunately its quite a dark room styled in an American roadhouse fashion. We had Sunday lunch here and it was a bit mixed, the meats were slightly overdone and no accompaniment for the gammon apart from standard gravy, hoped for parsley sauce or mustard sauce of some sort. Vegetables also rather overcooked, obviously tastes differ but even if you like your veg well cooked I venture you might find this too cooked! The best part of the meal was pudding, all home made and delicious, wonderful baked vanilla cheesecake and a chocolate delicious pudding with chocie of cream, ice cream or custard. Service is very friendly and helpful.
