My experience at Sovereign Rehab was excellent! I felt like I was going to visit family each time I went, and the rehab was made fun by the atmosphere created. There were people there of different ages and different ailments, and each therapist works with each other for a more complete goal towards independence. My therapist, Zach Hollis, was very knowledgeable in not only my tibia/fibula break, but also medical conditions that could have hindered my success in independence. He wasn't afraid to say if he didn't know the answer to a question (which I appreciated his honesty!) and would either look it up or ask another therapist. He made me enjoy coming, was encouraging, down to earth, yet challenged me to work hard. He also was willing to think outside the box for new ways for me to get better. Loved everyone who works there, and they seriously are so proud of you that it makes you not want to leave once you are discharged! Great experience, and if I ever need physical therapy again, I will choose - and recommend - Sovereign Rehabilitation!

Yes, 13 weeks sounds like a very long time, my initial RX was for 4 weeks, but I was so happy with my amount of improvemended I asked the Dr. for another RX! That's how much I LOVE this place. It was worth every penny of reaching my deductible to continue to be treated here. I've gotten to know most of the Therapists here and adored all of them, they love what they do and it shows. I have to say that recently the care received from them has not been good. I just had an annual physical conducted by Mary and felt the visit was rushed. Although there are signs posted everywhere that annual well visits should only be that with no mention of other things such as not feeling well, I did mention at the visit that I have not been feeling good for a long while. The conversation was brushed off and I allowed that to happen because I knew I would be getting a full blood panel completed. When the results were received I learned that the white blood cell count was very low and had been that way for an entire year! While this physician group is generally pretty good I feel they have failed me. I had been to that office many times during that one year span for various reasons and no one thought to check previous bloodwork or anything in my file to get to the bottom of why I was not feeling good. What is the point of doing physical exams each year if you cannot go in and discuss any concerns you may have and notice about your general health? It also concerns me that there are many older people who do not manage well with technology and yet they force a new app on all patients to get their results from tests. The quality of care just did not seem up to par on my last visit and they should do better. Mary should do better.

I am a nutrition nerd who reads and studies up on food as medicine, but after years of VERY stressful life situations and trying to self manage my diet, I was still lethargic and moody, even with a squeaky clean diet (no grains, no sugar, no diary). Many of us know that when you can't fix things yourself through diet, there's likely something else going on. It was time to see a doctor who practices functional medicine. Around this time, I also learned that my sister has a specific genetic mutation that could impact my health, so I threw that on the agenda. I arrived at the office with a list of things I needed her input on. She took time to sit with me, review the very detailed medical history questionnaire and listen to what was going on. She was careful and thorough during our visit. She spent an entire hour and a half with me - reviewing my history. No interruptions. No sitting in a room for 45 minutes waiting to speak to the doctor. Me and Dr. Curtis - discussing my issues one on one for over an hour. Who does that anymore? No one. It's not surprising that this level of treatment comes at a cost. Functional doctors can be pricey, but I knew that beforehand. I was also prepared to pay out of pocket if need be as insurance may not cover some of the tests or supplements. My health and the knowledge I gain by working with Dr. Curtis is worth any amount I pay. I am learning how to cope with the stresses of life - what supplements help me in which ways. Which foods work well for my body and which result in negative consequences. My father died young of a sudden heart attack and I am convinced that had I not seen Dr. Curtis, learned the details of my genetic makeup and what lifestyle modifications I needed to make - I would end up with the same fate. The fees I pay for office visits, diagnostic tests and the like are investments in MY health. I'm taking control of my health vs. resorting to pharmacutical remedies and I believe that this investment is worth every penny. I am so very grateful to Dr. Curtis for the work that she does. I can tell by her demeanor that she is doing this work from her heart. She is mindful of the cost of the supplements that she recommends. For example, I was on a 21 day gut rebuilding diet which necessitated a specialized protein powder supplement that was expensive. After the 21 days were up, she and I discussed what to do with the leftover powder and she recommended I use the rest up for meal replacements since it would be wasteful to throw it out and she'd hate for me to lose the $ I'd spent buying it. She also gives samples of supplements to try to make sure it will work with your body composition before you purchase a full bottle. I could not ask for more in a doctor than what Dr. Curtis provides. She is knowledgable, compassionate and she listens. She's not rushing you out of the office because she has to see 5 patients an hour. She is there for you during your appointment time. Her attention is focused on you and your needs. If this is the type of doctor - patient relationship you're looking for, look no further. I recommend AFM and Dr. Curtis to anyone with health challenges. I am a customer for life!
