Very friendly and helpful staff. Beverage selection includes some great regional wines. Fine food lots of flavor but portions very small. .

It cost $99. First was wagu croquette, basically a crumbed mushy puree, then salty and pepper squid, which was okay, then overcooked whiting dripping in grease, a mediocre salad of winter vegetables, some chips and overcooked roast potato portions. Also a small plate of sliced wagu to share. No desserts, no cheeses, no coffee, no choices. And there goes $99 Per person. Having said that the service was good. If it did not have the beachfront location you wouldn't bother.

While it is pretty casual inside the food is much more than you might expect from what looks like a shack on the beach. We enjoyed the fish of the day, grilled served with a few chips and salad. We also shared a tomato salad entree and some bread. Food was fresh, high quality and perfectly prepared. Portions were very reasonable - this is not a place where you need to order an appetizer instead of a main course to avoid over eating. Service was very warm and welcoming and you just can't beat the view. If you want to eat inside away from the heat, advance reservations are essential. Recommended.

I now know why service with more than just a smile can have even more meaning than great food and a cool environment. Our waitress, Lani, was so passionate and having so much fun in her job that we were convinced she was the owner of the place! She was not shy in sharing her opinion of the wine we should be drinking nor of having a chat in between serving others, we walked out feeling like a regular of the place - still bubbling from the friendliness and genuine concern for ensuring we had a good time. But I also can't go past the food. Here are 3 key finger lickingly good tips for you when dining for dinner here: - Sharing is caring and worth it for anyone on a budget or who gets food envy (yours truly). But don't feel limited to the Bar/Share menu, you can share the pizza, the mains the smaller plates and you'll be full from 4-5 dishes between 2! - If you like unusual flavour combinations, that is still accessible to the normal palette (ie. not offal) this is the place for you. Gin and beetroot cured salmon or Fig & Proscuitto Pizza, even the mushroom stuffed baby squid all were such simple concoctions but so well flavoured. - Get there at sunset, it is really well enclosed on the balcony outside and if you have a coat in winter you could easily sit outside and watch the beautiful sunset over Semaphore beach + score 100 romance points too! Like a kid in a candy shop who just found the best sweets tucked away in the back of the shop, I am still hyped up about Lickerish and can't wait to save up my pennies till my next visit with friends.

Beautiful space, warm and comfortable inside when outside is dreary, but when the sun is shing, get out there on the balcony. The only way to eat! Grab a bottle of something, and feast on a couple of platters. Its run by old 'Greedy Goose' hosts John and Justine Hall, and it has the same attention and love of their food after all these years! I had zucchini flowers (with cheese!) which were devine, the cured salmon melts in the mouth and theres a range of pizzas, most of which can be made gluten free (with a $3 surcharge) Great place, great food, great service - everything I look for, and more!

I've been caught out many times! The service has never been 5 star and sometimes it takes a while to be served. Staff always seem friendly though and I try to relax into the beach vibe instead of worrying that things aren't perfect. I like the atmosphere and it varies delaying on day and time of day. Sunday evenings is always busy and there is live music, plus an enthusiastic dancing crowd. Quite an older crowd the later it gets on Sundays. I have had a few meetings here in the day and it's a great spot to chill out and pretend to work ;-) I agree with Chloe about the food being a bit overly deep fried. I have had some tasty food here, and it does always look fresh and nicely presented, but some lighter options would be welcome. The cocktails look amazing, but somehow I just about always order sparkling wine! I'd recommend keeping an eye on their Facebook page as they put up great photos and details of their specials and new offerings. They put up some enviable sunset photos too. All in all, a fun place in a brilliant location!

There are few and far between choices when it comes to grabbing a good, well priced drink outdoors in Henley Beach on a weekend in summer. And I know you're thinking - "What? There's tonnes of places down at Henley to grab a drink!" Yes but I could list them off for you and that would be enough said... Bacchus is one of the better locations because of their good wine menu and well made cocktail and drinks list. They would get 5 stars in my books for location and the fact you can drink on the foreshore alone. Unfortunately though they have an incredibly ordinary food and tapas menu and no matter how many times I give that place a try I am always disappointed by their unoriginal, over fried, pre-packaged food. It's weird, because their menu and photos of food from Facebook always look so enticing, so maybe I'm just ordering wrong? That said, I won't say no to a nice vino on the deck as the sun sets in winter or summer, enjoying the 25+ eye candy and imagining I own my own apartment on the beach in Adelaide!

But, they since have opened a shopfront so the general public can get their hands on a selection of their stock. You will love this place! Especially if you are a craft beer lover. They stock craft beer from some of the best breweries in Australia, Canada, United States and Japan. So, if you like to try something new and unique that you can not get in chain bottleos, this is your place. I particularly love the Japanese Beer selection here. If you can get anything from the Kiuchi Brewery, give it a go. Damn tasty! This shop front is set up inside of the Pirate Life Brewery building. So, if you are lucky when you visit, you might be able to say hello to the Pirate Life Boys. And of course there is a good stock of Pirate Life here to stock your fridge. If you haven't tried the Throwback IPA, well... we are not friends. This "bottle shop" or distro is set up really cool with a coffee machine and foosball table. So, you can hang there with mates and chat about what you love best, BEER. The Palais boys know their stuff too. Just note that it is only open, Thurs, Fri & Sat. The venue is a bit of a non-descript, office-type shopfront, and not exactly brimming with character like the other stops along our tour. I've kept my review at 3 stars because, as I said, every other stop along our tour was rammed with exciting surroundings...I wanted to bring tourists there. This place did not have that vibe. I will start with the most positive part of the review first: the beers (that I got to try). Golden Era - Golden Ale The guy behind the bar touted this as 'West End, but cleared up'. I think he and I have been drinking different West End Draughts! However, it is a solid beer choice, floral, bitter, crisp with good carbonation level. I can't comment on the colour because I drank it straight from the can. It's thirsty work travelling around on buses drinking beers all day! Double IPA (IIPA) My first note says 'hard to get floral aromas from can serving'. FYI Anyone who wants to try this beer in a glass, PLB keep plastic cups on their bar for the water. In the cup, it has an amber sunset colour to it, and it has a mild-heavy bitterness. Fair warning, It is a bl**dy big beer. No further aromas when I poured it into the cup, safe for some burnt greens. Interestingly for me, I found it had a smooth finish on the back of the tongue, and a harsh finish on the front. Maybe I needed to eat some food with it to smooth it out. My next tasting I will remember to pair it with some food - maybe a creamy cheese, maybe some deep-fried zucchini flowers. Venue Sure, they have a coffee machine, a few seats around the place, a bathroom and an EFT machine, but damn if this place isn't lacking some basic flair. We weren't allowed to sit outside around the barrels which clearly have seat for sitting around, which I think was a license issue, but whatever, we were happy to mill around inside. On the license note, because they are classed as a wholesale booze manufacturing plant, they can only sell takeaways in volumes exceeding 4.5 Litres! One poor girl had popped in to grab a four pack of her favourite Pirate Life brew, with her bike helmet still on and got told she had to upsize her order or vamoose! I felt quite bad for her, but then again, she could've only known that if she'd either been there before or had scoped out the miniscule sign by the coffee machine telling customers of this exact rule. Now, they do actually sell cans of the Pirate Life brew to consume on premises, but they are pretty pricy. Fair call for a decent beer though, I will give them that. And they sell PLB memorabilia like tshirts etc. I would give it a while to see if they transform the venue a bit. Otherwise head to your local pub that sells the stuff and smash it down there. It's bonza brew!
