We overnighted at this hotel and had our small dog with us. It was an extremely comfortable hotel,…read moreperfect firm mattress on the bed, refrigerator, lots of room and counter space. The hotel was full, but it was stone quiet. We really needed that after an 11 hour drive. Since we were traveling with our dog, it was particularly nice to have a dog walk area with poop bags and waste disposal provided. The staff was very welcoming, helpful and had genuine smiles on their faces. It's really true that Canadians still welcome U.S. tourists. Thank goodness! And THANK YOU CANADA!

Have been staying at the North Bay Hampton for at least 10 years. It's roughly half way between…read moreOttawa and Sault Ste Marie and has been a refuge in many a storm. Sometimes find it difficult to leave the National Capital and booking at the Hampton is good motivation to leave town. The breakfast, pool, friendly staff and late check-out keeps me coming back. Booked one night for Wed-Thursday July 31-Aug 1. Left Ottawa around 9 pm and drove the dark & lonely route reassured of a safe & comfortable place to stay. Arrived around 1 AM and Tanya was on reception. She greeted me with a radiant smile and checked me into the room. She's been at the hotel for 15 years and has provided a warm welcome for many a weary traveller. She's checked me in a few times, always with a happy smile and welcoming demeanour. Went to the room, luxurious suite as always, went back downstairs to grab a cart and moved all items from my vehicle before parking. Haven't had security issues before but proactively remove tools, luggage etc before leaving the vehicle for the night. Am familiar with the luggage cart availability and find that keeping valuables in the room helps me sleep better. Great sleep in the comfy bed. One of the main points of attraction at the hotel is the delicious breakfast. The eggs, sausages, ham and other items are always done to perfection. The coffee's a delight. Recognized some of the breakfast staff from previous visits. They arrive at 5 AM to get the breakfast ready. A shout-out to Denise, Marlene, Debbie, and Linda for their early-morning excellence. Much appreciated. After breakfast a few laps of the pool were in order. Bring my bathing suit and goggles for the occasion, a warm-up for summer lake swimming in this case. Wasn't going to Paris with my cardio but my technique was still there. Felt great and went back to the suite to change and begin the checkout. The noon checkout is much-appreciated and a reason to keep coming back. Was flirting with another hotel on this trip but the extra hour in the AM was a deal-breaker. Always keep an eye out for the rich and famous in the hotel. Have seen politicians and celebrities lingering in the lounge and have exchanged pleasantries over coffee and the newspaper. In this case a mother and daughter asked for a later checkout time so they could explore the local colleges. They were accommodated due to the extra checkout times available. An amazing convenience. Haven't heard of any hotel that does that other than the North Bay Hampton. Incredible. Bravo! Was rested and on my way before noon. A great start to the journey began at the Hampton. Many adventures lay ahead. The final chapter has yet to be written. Will return to the Hampton to begin other adventures, or as a denouement at journey's end.

They're available pretty much anytime, and are always happy to help (even if you're calling for the third time in a row because you can't figure out how to get the satelite TV working). Since I'm usually there about once a month, they know me on a first name basis. And even though it's a small inn, they always manage to find a room for me, even if I call them last minute. Although the decor isn't ultra modern, the rooms are always clean and tidy. They have free wi-fi and satelite TV. Each room has either a walk out "deck" or balcony; it doesn't matter if you're on the lower or upper level, because either way you'll have a gorgeous view of the water. One of my favourite touches is the heated floors in the bathroom...yeah that's right, HEATED FLOORS! Waking up on a chilly North Bay morning in February isn't quite so bad when you know you're not going to freeze your feet on the tiles :) Breakfast is no-frills, but also included in the price. The coffee is a little weak, but it's brewed every morning, and you can take your pick of fresh fruit and granola bars. To top it all off, the price for a regular room (two double beds) is only $79 / night! You really can't beat that.
