For some reason this Canada Day long week-end, we seem to be the only customers here. None-the-less, the quality of the cottage we stayed at for the most part is quite clean and decent (there were a few scratches on some of the interior walls, but it's some mere cosmetics). The owner walked us to the cottage when we got here, and let us take care of the billing details in the morning, since we got here late. Each cottage has a barbeque, stove, microwave, and bedding. You bring your own towels. It even has things like soap and salt. So all-in-all, the experience was quite positive here, and I'd definitely return here again.

The kitchen was incredibly well equipped with some implements that were of better quality than the average person's kitchen. The cabin itself was modern and comfortable, we stayed in cabin 1 and it was more than enough space for the two of us. It would sleep 3 people or perhaps 2 couples comfortably. We paid the extra money for an upgraded boat (which I believe was a StarCraft). The bow-mounted trolling motor was excellent, the foot pedals worked well. The fish finder worked fine. Comfortable for 2, but 4 might be pushing it. There was a fire ban in place at the time due to the northern Ontario wildfires but the fire pits looked very accessible and well kept. When the sun set, we would fish off of the docks and caught a couple 2lb bass. Customer service was great, I'm terrible with names so I can't tell you the couple's names but they were quite helpful and friendly. We might check the place out for some ice fishing this winter if I can dig up my old ice fishing gear. This is a great spot and I'd totally recommend it!

We were in the cottage with three rooms. Kitchens were fully stocked with plates, pots and cutlery. LOCATION: Not on the Lake Nipissing, on the south river that leads you there. The waters are murkier because everything is getting flushed through the river. For those whom like to swim in the lake it is not very swim able. AMENITIES: Pool is large and not crowded. Lots of great hiking nearby. Firepits for all cottages, but setback was its across a road. Kayaks and pedal boats are free to use, but only two available to serve ten cottages. The equipment was a little old. Games room had a pool table and air hockey table. Air hockey table a little old. Enjoyed the free movie rentals. SERVICE: I feel indifferent about this. At the time of booking we were promised free wood for our firepit. At arrival we were told no. We confirmed again with the wife and she said yes free firewood. And than in the evening the husband tells us we must pay. It was $5 not the a big deal. It was the communication. Also, the use of the equipment for kayaking always had to requested to be taken out and because of the wait time, you dont get into the water till at least 30 minutes have passed. Overall, we had a good time, but we will not return. The misleading information has left a bad taste.

We've stayed at Torbay Cottages in the past, and the owner remembered which of his cottages we stayed in last year. He was also able to accommodate us on a Sunday night even with limited availability, where-as another nearby cottage would only book for week-ends and weeks and not for single nights. The price is a little bit higher than at least one other one nearby, but there's also a cheaper option nearby which reflects the quality of it. This one is moderately priced, and everything has always been well there. There was even wifi available as a bonus. While I wasn't a fan of the redesign of the way they've split the cottages in half when it comes to lanes leading to them, I'd definitely return again to Torbay considering the service and quality of the venue.

YYB - Jack Garland Airport is possibly the smallest airport I've ever been to. In case you are…read morewondering, there are no direct flights from Chicago to North Bay. There are 2 options - connect in Toronto (which will get you into North Bay at 5pm at the earliest or latest since it's the only flight option for the day) or connect in Ottawa, which will get you into North Bay at 1pm at the earliest. I went with the Ottawa route and coincidentally was on the smallest plane I've ever been in with an airline I've never heard of - Bearskin. There were 2 pilots, one of them did the safety check in the cabin. As you can assume, there is no beverage service on the one hour flight. There were no other crew on the plane and no bathrooms. Once I arrived at the airport, I did see that they had a restaurant and a car rental place (National). I've heard that the car rental place is usually sold out, so it's pretty tough to get a car last minute. It sounded like it was tough getting one even with a reservation. I walked outside expecting to see some cabs at the taxi stand, but no such luck. That's probably why there's a dedicated phone inside the airport to calls the cab company to have someone pick you up. The dedicated black taxi phone is located across from National car rental booth. The service was pretty quick, they had someone there within 5 minutes.

There is no need to do screenings like this. If this is the case, you need to open up these lanes 2 hours before the flight have passengers go through like normal airports. Our kids have played at several indoor playgrounds in the U.S. and Canada. This one was our…read morefavorite by far. It was clean and large enough to keep the kids entertained for a couple of hours. We loved the slides. They were really fast. This is the only place to actually put an EyePlay interactive floor game in a dark room as well! Even if everything else about the place was terrible, I would still give them 5 stars for not putting the EyePlay in a bright room like every other place.

We were conveniently located, right beside the Dog Beach (we have two dogs who need to run and swim). The dogs had a great time doing doggy things: swimming, running and playing with new dog friends. Sadly, for the people, the swim wasn't quite as satisfactory, as it was quite shallow water, and we couldn't get a really good open-water swim. Then, we found a new possibility. We drove to the start of the Ranger's Trail, followed it, then cut down a path toward the lake to find a magnificent open water swim !location. Clear, calm water, and you can lounge on the rocks and swim in from them. The water gets deep very fast, so be careful! My walk-in site had the most amazing toilet. OK I don`t usually write toilet reviews, but this Clivus was something to behold. The port-a-let cubicle was clean and well ventilated. The ventilation was something that surprised me, as I'd never seen a ventilated vault toilet before. It was such a great toilet: no smells at all. The staff came and cleaned it three times a day. OK, on to the landscape, which is beautiful: rolling hills, mixed forest, Canadian shield. There are so many lakes 8in this area that, I am told, the kayaking is very good. I may not do kayaking, but I do love stargazing. We were lucky to be at Restoule on August 12, when the annual meteor showers arrive. It was also my daughter's birthday. We took a blanket and pillows down to the waterfront and looked at the stars, which appeared so much larger than they do in the GTA. Our goal was to see 12 shooting stars. Within 45 minutes, we had our targeted quota and more! It's a lovely little park, and if you like an electric site, their electric sites are relatively private and spacious. I found the staff quite friendly, but I did not have cause to interact with them very often. It is also close to nearby towns, in case you forgot something (I recommend Gerry's General Store in Restoule)

Restoule Provincial Park is located north of Algonquin Provincial Park along Hwy 534. The closest…read moretown is Township of Restoule which is just a few blocks (only one restaurant in the whole town). The closest large town is Town of Port Loring. I want to review it because it is a great park but is almost a best kept secret to Torontonians, though people living in up north frequent there. The park has 3 campgrounds, two are non-electrical (Putts Point, Bells Point) and one is electrical (Kettle Point). The campsites in Putts Point and Kettle Point campgrounds are in good condition. The sites in Kettle Point seem smaller than Putt Point's, where I stayed. I estimate that an average sized campsite in Putt Point is a large campsite in Kettle Point. However, Kettle Point is more popular and the sites get booked faster, because there are a lot of RV and trailers campers. I don't like the sites at Bells Point campground. There is a comfort centre in Kettle Point and another one in Putts Point. There is no comfort centre in Bells Point. They are both in good condition. The shower water is hotter in the morning and afternoon. It becomes lukewarm in the evening. The park has access to both Stormy Lake and Lake of Restoule. The water is really clear. Both lakes have boat launch ramps. During my long weekend stay, I saw people playing motor boating, water skiing, sea-doo, fishing, sailing (only in Stormy Lake), canoeing and kayaking. The park office gives out a water way map that shows the good fishing spots. I didn't see many swimmers, probably because the water is quite shallow in the beach areas. There is also a separate dog beach. Hiking and wildlife sighting are good as well. I saw a deer up close on the Angel Point Trail (took pictures too). The best and longest trail is Fire Tower Trail. It has a spectacular lookout point overseeing Stormy Lake. This park is honestly beautiful. The water is clear; the air is clean. It is so natural and unspoiled. Star gazing is lovely on the boat launch docks, so bring your telescope. There are additional reviews on this park on Tripadvisors, should you want more details.

Twice a day, busses are comfortable (and wifi equipped!) and rarely even close to capacity. A tad pricey, but what do you expect...
