This was my first time visiting Sunshine Growers Nursery, and I was impressed by the huge selection of flowers and plants available. The nursery is beautiful, well-stocked, and had a great variety of flowers to choose from. They also had a nice sale on vegetable plants, which made it easy to pick up a few extras without breaking the budget. Since I'm new to gardening, I wasn't quite sure where to start, so I spent some time researching plants as I walked around. One thing to keep in mind is that there isn't staff available throughout the nursery to answer questions, and quite a few plants didn't have labels. If you're looking for specific guidance, I'd recommend calling ahead or doing a little research while you're there. Overall, the prices were fair, the parking lot was a decent size, and the selection was fantastic. I enjoyed taking my time exploring everything and will definitely be back to see what new plants they have in stock! I bought an elm tree. I was told that for $65 I could have it delivered and put anywhere I wanted in my yard. But when the guy brought it he told me that he wouldn't put it in the hole that I dug, even though they told me they would put it anywhere I wanted. *THERE WAS NO MENTION OF THEM NOT PUTTING IT IN A HOLE!* I even said to the salesperson that I had to hurry home and get it dug. They had SEVERAL OPPORTUNITIES to let me know that they in fact WOULD NOT put it anywhere I wanted, as they told me they would. I'm a disabled person who had a stroke there's absolutely no way that I can move this thing by myself. This is where the delivery driver left it. So they totally lied to me about it and took my money and left me with no way to get this in the hole. I really liked the place because it had a nice selection but their customer service is poor. 2 of the 3 employees that I interacted with had bad attitudes and were totally unprofessional. It's unfortunate that I need to update my review and take a couple stars away. This is kind of long overdue. I know it's getting harder and harder to get good help or even qualified help for that matter. The last couple times I have been in the employees really are not very helpful. When you have a question about a plant, they don't really take the time to explain it or give you alternatives. That again today happened in a large way. I was looking for a particular fruit tree with a certain root stock that would work in my soil. I called and asked if they had the particular type of tree and wasn't on the root stock I was looking for? The guy told me I don't know. I said do you know what route stocks you have. His response was if you want to know what rootstocks we have and what trees are available. You need to come down here and look. To say I was shocked would be an understatement. So I looked up another nursery called and asked the gentleman there. He told me he wasn't sure if they had that root stock for that particular tree, but he would check if I could hold on a minute or two because it was in their other location across the street. He came back in about a minute and a half and told me they did have the tree not only in my root stock, but two others. He then went on to even ask why are you looking for that particular rootstock? I told him and he said OK that's a good rootstock for that but here is a better one that will take care of that issue for you in the long run. I thanked him and drove 28 minutes to their nursery so I can get outstanding service rather than going to Sunshine growers which is 15 minutes from my house. I will not be going to Sunshine growers again. I found a new place that really is focused on the customer. read more

Fortunately I found my way to the retail store and got help. Picked up a couple nice passion fruit vines. Since planting they have exploded! Sunshine Growers Nursery has been our go to nursery for decades. They have a great selection, and the prices are more affordable than the really big Southern California nursery (Moon). Now the prices are more than big box home improvement stores, but if your looking for a bigger selection and expert advice and service, the prices cannot be beat. I also appreciated how the nursery is organized, but a sign to the main office might help newcomers. When searching for the material we wanted, an employee drove us around on a golf cart, which made our shopping more efficient. Most recently, we completely remodeled our front yard with drought tolerant plants; we were going for a modern Mediterranean look. With the assistance of the Sunshine Growers experts, we were able to find everything that we needed and reached our goal. So far, all of the plants and bushes we purchased are thriving. read more

I was extremely satisfied with my plant purchase today. I bought their dracaena black beauty plant today and service was phenomenal. HUNG (I hope I'm spelling his name right) was knowledgeable and very helpful. This place is huge, massive. You have to drive all the way to the back for parking. There is so much to look at, that it can be overwhelming (in a good way). We found parking and my kids jumped out. They were greeted by two very kind workers. They immediately came over to me and let me know that they would be around if I needed help, and to not hesitate to call them if I needed potting soil. I was pleasantly surprised at the selection of bagged soil that they carry, all organic, OMRI certified. Great prices as well, they had a sale of buy 3 get 1 free. Music to my ears lol I went inside the store and let them know what I wanted, I also purchased some soil acidifier for my blueberries and azomite. I was quickly run up, he showed me that everything was rung up correctly. I paid, and he promptly loaded the bagged soil and took to my car. Loaded the 4 bags into my trunk all by himself. They was my first visit, but they made a great first impression and I am looking forward to returning when I have more time to explore everything. DO NOT BUY THEIR BULK SOIL I am posting this for anyone interested in their bulk soil. Do not buy their bulk soil. I spent over $600 on their soil and it arrived full of garbage in it. I mean literal pieces of garbage. Broken glass. Broken rubber. It's awful. The soil is mostly sand and no matter how much you water it, the water won't soak in to the soil. I can't grow anything in this soil. It is going to cost me thousands to have this soil removed and replaced with actual dirt. Please, learn from my mistake. Do not buy this soil! read more

This was my first stop on my #NurseryCrawlpartIV I've been going out for 5 weekends in a row. This place has the most pots BY FAR and a good deal of medium to larger sizes. They have premium soil for both indoor and outdoor at reasonable prices. I went today and it was over 100 degrees not comfortable at all to walk the grounds but if you can stand it then for sure make sure you allot enough time. The staff spent a good amount of time with me speaking of growing my tulip bulbs in a container. They do not have bulbs for purchase and a very extensive supply of ground plant options and succulents as well. The snake plants were GORGEOUS as were the tall dracaena they all looked healthy. My yard died on me due to the extended heat wave and winds this summer and an inadequate irrigation system. I decided to do things right this time as we travel alot so we hired Jim, A landscape consultant who also happens to work at Sunshine Growers Nursery. He came to our home and told us exactly what we needed, what plants and where to place them using a legend he had drawn up so beautifully. A wonderful person and helpful in everyway. When it was time to pick out the plants, Pedro zipped me around on the golf cart and found just what was needed. Had to make a couple trips for the rock scape and workers were right on it. What a gem! Sunshine Growers Nursery is the best nursery I have ever found. They have a HUGE selection of every kind of plant one would want to add color, texture, height and variety to a garden. I landscaped my entire yard and could not be happier. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and so very helpful. I was most fortunate to have the opportunity to work with Jim with the selection and placement of just the right plants and trees for my yard. To say I am ecstatic with his help is truly an understatement! He knows what he's doing and is extremely conversant when it comes to landscaping. With plants that the nursery did not have available at this time, he called other places to help me get just the right plants for my project. Who does that?! I got more than my money's worth here. The cost was more than reasonable, and everyone was so very helpful. It is great to have a place to go where customer service comes first, where the value is a a given. Please save yourselves from the headache. I purchased six fruit trees from them in May 2022. Out of the six two are growing fine but four have not sprouted anything and even the leaves withered away. After almost four months of checking whether the trees will sprout, I went on 9/1/2022 and showed the pictures of the trees to Mark on my phone (see attached). Mark was very helpful and asked me to pull the tree out and bring them to him and he will exchange the same apple trees as all trees had the original tags on them. I pull the four trees out with roots and took them back to the nursery on Sep 8th. Mark was not at the counter. I found out he is out on Wednesdays and Thursdays. The other gentleman at the counter asked me to come back during the weekend when Mark is at the nursery. He also told me that the nursery does not guarantee any trees purchased from them. I went to them today and as soon as I parked my car, Mark came to me and told me the owners have talked to him and instructed him not to offer any credit or exchange. He apologized and said that if I had come to them within 60 days, they would have been able to exchange. It seems that everyone gives a different answer on the exchange for the trees and definitely the owners care less about retaining their customers. I wish them good luck but I will take my business to other places after the misinformation and the three different trips they caused me. Another long-term customer is gone. read more

Be mindful of the closing times because they shut off the cashiers promptly at closing time and tou will not be able to purchase the plants you spent time selecting throughout this large nursery. Use time wisely. This happened to me. :( The people are friendly. They don't hover while you walk about. Reasonable prices but some are not readily visible. Take a bottled water and wear comfy shoes that you don't mind getting a little dirty/dusty. I give 4 stars only because I never got a chance to actually buy anything. We came here to choose plants for our newly landscaped front yard without any knowledge of what plants we wanted. We knew we wanted low maintenance, drought tolerant plants. customer service and return service is toooooo terrible . 10/3/2024 We bought the date tree here, because it was our first purchase here. when we check out I also specifically asked them if it could be returned. They replied that it would be within a month. A few days after I bought this tree,its leaves fell off a lot and it didn't look very healthy. And when I came back I saw that trees of similar breeds did not look healthy too。So we decided to return the tree. Their manager told me: Our plants have no warranty. We don't accept returns unless your plants are healthy. What kind of logic is this? If everything is fine with my plants, why should I spend my time and gasoline here? The manager's attitude is extremely bad and strong, And threatened me to get out of here quickly, otherwise he would call the police. I replied to him: Please call the police now and let the police see how you treat your customers. Your customer came here to inquire about return service. Is this how you deal with it? A good store should have good product quality &good customer experience. There is nothing in this store. which makes us very sad. Sorry for the low rating but at one time this was my favorite nursery until yesterday. I came by to shop for some plants and see what I could give life to. To much disappointment- this nursery was practically empty. They did has an abundance of succulents, although there was only one that I did not have. I grabbed a rolling cart anticipating a stock of plants to fill it but literally that was all I bought. I went to the shaded area and saw some 1 & 5 gallon plants although I had them all and they were over priced at that! As we went to check out - we crossed the water attachments and grabbed a shower type end, although some were marked at $7 & others were marked at $15 (the exact same ones) ??? I do have to commend the cashier (older gentlemen) had a bit of education behind each piece we bought on hold to grow or use it. Nice to see passion in your work! I love checking out different nurseries for my garden. It is a pretty big nursery with a good selection of flowers, veggies, trees etc. what made me frustrated was rarely any name or prices were listed. Not helpful for home gardeners that are not familiar with all types of plants and the varieties. After going to the register was surprised how reasonable prices were, but wish names and prices were listed. The person at the register was ok, but seemed to have a little attitude. Don't appreciate guys trying to act too tough. Nope. The plants were very healthy. I repotted all 7 that I bought and these are growing really well now. Overall, I'd recommend it to everyone and give it a try. read more
