SUNY Adirondack has been the most emotionally fatiguing experience of my life; attending this school has been a tremendous waste of my money and time. Between the unmotivated student body that can buy their degrees and abuse AI until the equally checked-out professors inevitably give up, there's very little sense of academic integrity or genuine engagement. This place doesn't foster creativity--you're almost punished for trying to think outside the box or go beyond the bare minimum. Instead of encouragement, you're met with indifference or rigid, uninspired expectations that make learning feel like a chore rather than an opportunity. The administration is an absolute disorganized mess. Trying to get clear answers or resolve even simple issues turns into a frustrating cycle of being passed from one office to another with no accountability. The financial aid department, in particular, has been consistently difficult to deal with--across every interaction and phone call I (and multiple family members of mine) have had, they've been rude, dismissive, and at times outright demeaning. It often feels like students are treated as inconveniences rather than people investing significant time and money into their education. On top of that, communication across the board is unreliable. Important information is either delayed, unclear, or contradictory, leaving students to figure things out on their own. Support services that are advertised as helpful rarely deliver meaningful assistance, and when problems arise, there's little sense of urgency or care in addressing them. Adult attending continuing education classes - back to school for fun - who does that?!? I'm not retired; I have a flexible work schedule. Though the majority of CE students are older than I, discussions are lively. Proof the if you were an interesting person at 20 who's stay you won't be so at 60+? Comforting thought as none of us gets to stay physically "young" forever - but your mind and attitude can! Topics are interesting; can break you out of your comfort zone and tour experiences are fun (making chocolate!) , fascinating ( bookbinding? Cannabis production!) and the prices can't be beat. As far as academics go, it's an alright school. There are teachers here who want you to succeed and clearly care about their career. That being said, if you're looking to live on campus, I'd advise you not to. I've lived on campus here for several months now and overall it's been a very, VERY terrible experience. The entire dorm building smells like garbage and feces almost all the time. Staff pretend to care about students' wellbeing but they do not care or make any effort. Very little resources around campus to aid students and acedemic advisors don't do anything. The dining hall only offers greasy slop, and it closes before 7PM every day. Student body lacks diversity and is very strange to say the least. Nothing, and I mean NOTHINg goes on around campus. read more

I go to SUNY ADK, and as a student, I would say this is a very good school. The faculty is nice, but some are very hard to get ahold of. The things that the school offers for free are great. Such as tutoring, gym, health care checks, a therapist, etc. The cafe has great options for food, but I would say the staff could be a little more friendly. They tend to act like we are an inconvenience and / or annoying them. Everything is clean and nice, the bathroom is also nice. The gym is great. The dorm rooms could use a little work. By that, I mean the walls have scuffs on them, and the paint is ripped off. And the washer and dryer haven't worked properly in a month. My friend has to wash her clothes at her boyfriends house. But I would say that the school as a whole is very good. read more

2015- 2016 Freshmen college student. So far for my 1st semester was great. The community college has good dormitory rooms and I love the area that the college is in. I have liked my stay in the dorm, and the dormitory is fairly good sized. read more
