You get what you pay for. Repeat that to yourself if you choose to book this location. Yes, it's cheap, but there's a reason for it. The check in process was more difficult than expected, considering the room was booked online and already paid for. Of course, they wanted a credit card for "incidentals" as though there were a mini-bar or in case I decided to make any long distance calls on their phone rather than use my cell phone. Regardless, it's policy, so I get it. You never know who is going to try to walk off with the worn bedding. Ok, so where do we begin? The second floor hallway is NOT climate controlled, so it was hot and muggy, and smelled like wet dog mixed with last week's stale weed smoke. It's also dark and aged, with flaking paint and plaster. I can't even venture a guess the last time the carpet was cleaned or shampooed. While preparing to settle in, I took my shoes off and walked around in socks, which ended up getting dirty from whatever had built up on the carpet in my room. The bathroom is dimly lit, I'm guessing the vanity sports a single 25-watt bulb to shave by, and that's the ONLY light in the bathroom. Shower temperature was good, but the pressure was dismal. My hair is only 2" long, and the pressure had a hard time washing the shampoo out of it. Towels were old, stained and ratty. The only "large" one covers either part of my front or part of my back. It's not big enough to get both at the same time. One washcloth had black stains on it and the other one was see-through thin. The toilet wobbled and lurched much like a mechanical bull when used. If I had a tool kit, I would have tightened the bolts and put a bead of caulk around the base to stiffen the ride, but I don't have them with me. Sorry. When I showered, I closed the bathroom door to prevent the possibility of steam setting off the smoke alarm (conveniently placed right outside the bathroom door for some reason) and found a soiled pair of women's panties hanging from the doorknob. (after the shower, I subsequently pinched a corner to lift them and brought them to the front desk. The clerk merely grinned and took possession of them. I hope they fit him). There IS a mini-fridge with freezer. I did them a favor by unplugging it so I could defrost the 2" layer of ice in it, while affording myself some quiet to sleep. The air conditioner is an old window unit that provides plenty of white noise to mask the ruckus outside the hotel, especially after the other tenants have had a few beers, but still isn't enough to mask the slamming doors and arguing from the hallway that continues well into the night. Breakfast is a choice between a bagel, cold cereal, a mini-muffin or a container of Activa yogurt. Thankfully, there's a McDonald's up the road. Just keep repeating "You get what you pay for" or spend a few extra bucks for a better quality chain hotel. read more

This review is based on our daughter and her husbands recent stay at this location. Looking for a place to stay while on a road trip, our daughter booked a room at this location. On checking into the room, they found blood on the sheets of the bed and immediately let the staff know. The sheets were changed out so they tried to get some sleep after a full day of driving. Loud arguing from housekeeping woke them up several times before they checked out. After complaining to management, our daughter was told she could receive a 10% discount on her next stay at the location. Are you kidding? I'm hoping Super 8 will do the right thing and resolve this otherwise it will be my last stay at any Wyndham Hotel group property for us. read more

This was awful. The lock on the door is missing, the ruum smelled so much like vomit I slept with the window open and it was about 45 degrees. The shower head drips water out at about 5'8" so if you are over six foot don't plan on washing your face. This was the worst hotel stay I have had on years read more

I'm only giving this place 3 stars because they owners were soooo amazing and nice. Absolutely love them. if not for that it would be 1. The room appeared to be clean but i dropped a battery and had to go looking for it. Behind the bed looks like it has never ever been cleaned. Sooooo much dirt, dust and god knows what else. Same with underneath all the night stands. The microwave was filthy! Also looked like it had never been cleaned. I found a red pill on the floor by the bed that my 4 year old almost ate because he thought it was a skittle. If I had to stay in Elkhart again this would definitely not be the place for me. read more

8/23/14 My boyfriend and I are visiting his family. After 12long hours of driving from North Carolina we are EXHAUSTED!!! I saw the reviews on the Super 8 Motel and we decided to give it a try. We arrived and the staff was very helpful. With my AAA membership we received a discount for the 2nights. This hotel is CLEAN! I was surprised of course, The pillows are very comfy, beds are made properly..... We Checked under the mattress for anything Suspicious. The room came with a mini refrigerator and microwave thankfully. The A/C works fine, all the lights work, and none of our things were stolen. I gave this hotel 4 starts only because they could use a new paint job here an there. Other wise my visit was great.... Quite, safe, and comfy. read more

I have a trained medical service dog and one of the staff (older Indian man who said he was in charge) started yelling at me when I was looking for a plastic knife for my bagel. This motel is cheap and is near I-80. It also had outstandingly reliable and fast wireless (the fastest of any motel I've ever stayed at--perhaps because it was not fully occupied and perhaps because the clientele here is not internet-savvy). Super 8 tends to be a pretty low-end motel, but I'll say, this one is exceptionally low-end even for a super 8. It is really ugly, and in a really ugly location. The rooms are ugly, the exterior is ugly, and the view out the window was butt-ugly as well. The walls here are very thin. I could hear conversations in other rooms clearly, during the day when I checked in. Fortunately, at night, it was very quiet, but it could have been bad. Also, the breakfast here had long since been pulled when I arrived there about 9:15. I know it's supposed to end at 9, but all the motels I've ever stayed at have left the existing things out, and simply stopped putting new things out. This place closed and locked the door and turned off the lights. That seemed really cheap to me. The front desk was unattended when I checked out. If I stay in Elkhart again, I will try another motel. This place is cheap but it would be worth paying $5-10 more to get more. read more

Just a place to sleep, shower, period. My first impression, as I pulled in the parking lot was, what the hell did I book? Upon checking in and walking in my room it did catch me by surprise that it was nicer and cleaner then I expected. Of course my expectations was LOW from the way the building looked and the atmosphere of the place. And when I say "nicer and cleaner" I mean an upgrade from my initial impression, not up to my standard. If your a cheap skate or strapped for cash, stay here. Otherwise, I'd recommend staying elsewhere. I will rate this place 2 out of 5 stars for the simple fact that I did sleep well, their AC was ice cold, and the WiFi worked well enough. read more

Seems to be a decent place. Not fancy at all, but cheap and clean. Wifi wasn't working right for some reason, though. Not a big issue to me.

Things started okay. The check in was awkward with the customer service rep stating he "would be surprised if Bethany put our roll away bed in the room because she doesn't remember to do anything". Roll away was indeed put in the room, so yay for Bethany. We checked in on Thursday, Friday we left early to go to a conference and as customary went to the lobby for the complimentary breakfast, got coffee a banana and yogurt for my daughter and in took it back to the room to enjoy while we got ready for our early meetings. Perfect. Saturday we start the same routine. Head to the lobby for coffee, yogurt, and banana. A rep there told us we couldn't take the coffee and food to our room. A banana and yogurt. I asked him why and he told me because it could make a mess. I reminded him that our rooms had refrigerators and a microwave, but still no food was allowed? He again stated, "right, no food allowed". So I then asked, " so why have a microwave or a fridge in the room?". Then I got a shoulder shrug. So I set my banana and 4 oz, highly messy and controversial yogurt on the counter and left. Thank God my daughter already had our coffee back to our room. I have NEVER heard anything so bizarre and ridiculous before! Even typing this out I'm laughing at the absurdity. Now I know why this was the last hotel to have any rooms available during a high conference week. Will not be returning. read more

I live in Minneapolis, and I drove to New England last week to visit family, and on my way back, I stayed at the Super 8 in Elkhart, Indiana. After a 13 hour drive, my partner and I were refused room we booked online. The hotel said it did not have a record of pets being included (we made reservations online as we have with other Super 8's in the past). We were not asked about pets when we arrived. After being given our key we took the dogs for a walk. The clerk approached us in the parking lot and told us she made a mistake and we needed to rebook the room. When we went to the front desk the manager (Chirag Patel) called us liars. We told him there was a misunderstanding either on our end when we made the reservations or on their end for not asking us about pets upon check in. He told me there was a room available, and when he saw my partner (another man) he asked if we were together. I said yes, and we agreed to pay extra for a new room. Mr. Patel then told us we could only get a room with two beds instead of one. I think he thought we would refuse but we said that would be fine. He again called us liars and said, "If you can't afford the room, don't book it in the first place!" He then told us to take our business elsewhere. After driving for 13 hours, we were exhausted and literally had no place to stay. If that were not enough, we were the SECOND couple to be refused service. An African-American couple before us booked a room and were given a room that faced a parking lot full of workers who were camping in the lot under tents, with barbecues and loud music (we witnessed one man urinating right by the window). When the couple asked for another room Mr. Patel said to them that if they did not like the accommodations, they could take their business elsewhere. I trust that this man and his hotel do NOT represent what is good about Elkhart, but at this time, I have absolutely no interest in ever going there or recommending Elkhart to anyone I know. read more

At least it's cheap and no major issues. Their free breakfast had sausages and yogurt, so it wasn't all carbs. The breakfast was better than most hotels have had since the pandemic. So we were pleasantly surprised by that. The room seemed clean. The bed was comfortable, but the pillows were too soft. Now for the negatives. 1.) The wifi dropped you after being online about two hours, so you had to connect to it again. 2.) The shower ran out of hot water after only about 5 minutes. 3.) The toilet was wobbly. Probably the seal under it was broken. Not that hard for a plumber to fix, but plumbers are expensive. 4.) One of the grab bars in the tub was loose. It was still able to hold my weight, but someone heavier could have it give way. That is a safety issue that really should be fixed. It was located close to where we needed to be, so we may consider staying here again if we can't locate something better for a reasonable price, but if we do I hope they have the problems fixed by then. read more

I will give this 4 stars for the simple fact that it is what it is: a place to sleep and a clean bathroom, at least on the surface. Clearly the bathrooms have been redone, and while it's not luxury by any means (grayish, fraying towels, unpainted areas on the walls, etc), the staff is exceptionally sweet and friendly and helpful. We were there for a Notre Dame football weekend, so they jack the prices up (all the hotels in the area do). Hey, that's supply and demand in action, so you can't fault them! The rooms remind me of a hostel in Europe: unattractive decor, smells vaguely of smoke, and it's just worn down. The strip it's on is pretty ugly too--but they have a primo spot across from Callahan's restaurant, a 24 hour joint that served up awesome food. I'll do another review of them later. The rooms are VERY small. You'd be hard pressed to get more than 1 person per room. Definitely not good for families, as there is no room for a rollaway, nor would I put a sleeping bag on the floor. If you're in town for a football game, the Super 8's location right off the Toll Road and relative price is totally satisfactory. Especially if you don't feel like spending $350 a night for the Courtyard! read more

Horrible .... toilet wobbled and leaked all over floor when flushed.....then we did not sleep for 1 min all night long. Refrigerator made horrible noises every 10 min. Then some loser started his diesel truck outside our window and ran it for 20 minutes at 6am. Then the smoke alarm kept going off ...probably from the truck fumes. Called the front desk. Guy who answered didnt want to hear about it. Offers to change room. Who wants to pack up everything middle of the night and move. Then he said he would tell management when they came in. This has been the worst experience by far in the Wyndham super 8 I booked a room at Super 8 in Corydon Indiana through booking.com for 4/12-4/15. Upon checking it seemed to be an issue it took 40 mins to get checked in seemed to be a lot miscommunication with the front desk clerks. We finally got a keycard for a room 102 as we arrived at the room we proceeded to put the key in the door as I walked in a gentleman informed me the room was already occupied. So my husband and I walked back to the front desk where they apologized and said they get us in another room. At that time she checked 118 where there was another occupancy again assured us we. Would have a room shortly. Well another 45 mins past and we finally had a room 304 we went up dropped luggage off and turned the a/c on walked out. ( we were in Indiana to visit my mother who just recently got her from Tx.) after spending several hours visiting and a long drive from Nc we decided to go back to room get some rest! We walked in the room and the smell omg was horrible between stinky feet wet dog urine from pet etc it was just gross. I packed my bag and went down stairs to inform them I wasn't staying much less could stay in the room!!! So again we got another room ironically we got 102 again just not occupied this time! Well after getting to room finally I decided call customer care by Wyndham and complain about all this experience! Long story short made the complaint then with in the day the Gm Chirag Patel emailed me said sorry about my experience offered 25% refund towards my stay!! Well I kindly emailed back said wasn't acceptable and would like to have him call me give him my whole experience so he might would understand the whole experience! Well again I returned to hotel and asked about if the gm would be there in morning he informed me he was out of town and asked if he could help well I started tell him about my experience and he then aske would be acceptable I said I think 50% would be suffice. And he said he would email or by end of the night the Gm should call him. Well I went down for breakfast this morning and again not batter mix for waffles two days in a row but that wasn't what tipped it off a painter came in to talk with the Gm Chirag Patel and low and behold the man that's said he wasn't Chirag Patel last night was indeed him!!!! I was so outraged at how a Gm a businessman and owner of several properties could blatantly lie about who he was!!!!! So I went to room packed up checked out asked the front desk clerk if that was who I over heard he was and yes it was Chirag Patel!!!! Long story can't ever be short just know I will review this place as the worst hotel experience I've ever had and the owner Gm and staff were all rude minor exception ( the front desk clerk this morning) Just FYI he supposedly is selling the property maybe this is why it isn't his concern anymore!!!!!!! Based off the reviews it looked like a nice hotel. Updated and clean. When I went in to check-in it was updated and the gentleman who checked me in was friendly enough. I was a little suspect of the other patrons of the hotel...but for the price, I understood. The room was nicely updated but not very clean. There was a white substance on the comforter and the desk had residue on it (not wiped down). My husband checked the bathroom, the toilet seat had urine on it. We decided to checkout after that. I felt like it was family operated and contemplated not writing a review. When we checked out the woman who checked us out got somewhat snippy with me after we decided not to transfer to another room when we told her of the room's problems. We have a large range of options in this area for hotels we don't have to choose you!! Be nice about YOUR problem. I would give them 0 stars...but I can't do that. read more

Horrible place. Sheets had hair all over and the bathroom was disgusting and dirty. The manager was reluctant to return our money.

My same-sex partner and were "invited to take our business elsewhere" when the owner (Chirag Patel) figured out we're a couple. It began when I made the reservation online - I was looking for a pet friendly hotel (we were traveling with our 2 dogs) and the Motel 6 (where we usually stay because they don't charge for pets) in the next town over (South Bend) was full. We weren't asked about our dogs when we arrived & checked in. We proceeded to our room, relaxed for a little while, then took the dogs out for a walk. When the clerk saw us walking our dogs outside, she notified us that we'd have to re-check into a pet friendly room. My partner went to the front desk to correct the problem and I walked in a few minutes after him. When I walked into the lobby, the owner (Mr Patel, who was now behind the counter) asked us if we're together, and we replied yes. He then proceeded to accuse us of trying to sneak our dogs in without paying the pet fee, and misleading the clerk who checked us in by checking the "No Pets" box on the reservation form (it was actually the clerk who checked the box, not us). I explained that I was not asked about pets at any point in the reservation process, and we'd like to correct the mistake and move into a pet friendly room. We acknowledged that we should have told them we had pets when we arrived - an oversight on our part. I also acknowledged that I had overlooked the clerk checking us in with no pets, explaining to Mr Patel that we had just driven 13 hours and were very tired, so I neglected to read the entire form. Despite this, he continued to berate us, again stating we were liars and insisting that the online reservation process clearly states an additional pet fee is required. Again, we stated that the oversight appears to have been mutual and we would like to correct it and simply have a room for the night. He stated that the room we had originally reserved was for a single queen bed, I confirmed yes, and he then asked if we'd be ok with a room with 2 queen beds (in hindsight, it's clear to me he was assuming we'd say no). We said that would be fine. This was when he said he'd like us to take our business elsewhere. It's also worth noting that there was an encampment of what appeared to me migrant workers camped out on the lawn right next to Mr Patel's hotel who were playing music loudly and barbecuing within the vicinity of hotel rooms' windows. We witnessed one of them urinating directly next to one of the ground-floor hotel windows as well. When we first arrived, a couple was complaining about this to Mr Patel and demanding a refund because their room was on the ground floor, right next to this encampment. Mr Patel also "invited" them to take their business elsewhere. It's worth noting this couple happened to be black. There are many other accommodations to choose from in Elkhart. Do not give this man your business, he doesn't deserve it. read more
