Marriott and Pricelne should be ashamed to promote this hotel. They are e clearly taking advantage of Ole Miss fans who like us were desperate to stay here. I feel that we pretty much knew what we were getting ourselves into with this one (cheap find) but wow. The rooms were decent however we had a reservation and once given the keys we walked up to enter and they had given us a key to someone else's room. Clothes food and everything was seen when we entered. We quickly went back down and told her. She giggled and apologized and said she forgot to make note of their stay???? She gave us the sweet after that as it was the only thing available but if we wanted a double bed she would go clean it herself because it wasn't ready... we took the sweet. The room was decent but there were missing light bulbs and it was super dusty. Later we needed another key card to get in and it was a different lady this time. She didn't even ask us for an ID she just handed us a key card. We expressed concern and said that she should be checking IDs for things like that. Over all the rooms are not great, but livable. what I can't get past is feeling unsafe. I don't recommend this place as safety should be NUMBER ONE priority for your guests. read more

The lobby looked so elegant and impressive. Seemed like the nicest Super 8 I had ever seen--until we got into the room. It was filthy--thick layers of dust on the headboards and on the hairdryer. This place deserves a minus review. Our rooms were filthy dirty...dust all over...bed did not look like it has been changed, rug not vacuumed, microwave splattered with food. Our toilet didn't work. We should have known - as we were walking to our rooms (smelling urine all over the outside walkways) we saw a woman taking bedding down to the front desk. We told the front desk and they finally changed our rooms but they were not much better. We were supposed to stay 2 nights but quickly changed our plans and I formed the front desk. They told us they would not refund the second night because we made the reservation through a 3rd party, even though we paid them that day. Told them we would handle through Wyndham and our Bank. Just returned from 2 night stay for Ole Miss football game. Wow, what a dump. I can confirm the long list of disgusting details from the reviews below - the place is actually even worse than the reviews indicate. The clincher for me was that at some point on Saturday night, as I was sleeping, water began leaking from the ceiling above the bed and onto me - a steady stream, more than a drip (photo attached). When I told the front desk person on Sun morning and requested some sort of reasonable refund she dismissed me and said I needed to call back and talk to Jack on Monday. I said ok...and suggested she send someone to room 114 since they have a major problem. Spoke to Jack today, he was unaware of any water leak and the front desk gal had not mentioned it. He was completely combative and said that he went and checked the room and didnt see anything - and that I "probably made it up" to get a refund. A shocking reaction. We first started staying here when our daughter enrolled at Ole Miss, and it was great. Nothing fancy, but always clean, and the staff was friendly. The last few times, it's definitely been a "you get what you pay for" situation. This time, it wasn't even that. Dirty towels, one had a hole in it, the room wasn't totally clean, and the bed! Great googly moogly, the bed! The mattress was so flat it was like sleeping on a prison cot. One side had a deep dip in it, as if some giant had been sleeping there for about 20 years. When we went to check out this morning, no employees in sight. Apparently, they hadn't been at the desk for a hot minute, because three other people ahead of me had just slid their key cards under the window. Thank goodness our girl graduated this year. We'll be looking for somewhere else to stay next time we visit Oxford, MS. read more

Staff was nice and relatively accommodating, but this place was unfortunately really, really dirty. Stayed for two nights and then had to get a new hotel for the rest of the trip because we saw a roach and found food(?) stains on the sheets. The lobby is nice but the rooms (at least the outdoor ones) are not well-cleaned and border on being gross. Wouldn't recommend staying here unless you get a clean room without a rusted fridge. read more

Nothing better when checking into your room than stepping over the pile of empty beer cans in the breeze way while wandering through a haze of pot smoke billowing out of the room just down the way (with the door wide open). So my trying to save a couple of bucks ended up costing me a couple of hundred, plus I was stupid enough to book through Priceline. Super 8 offered me not one red penny for any of this. The person working the desk was so fearful of the bedbug I brought in as evidence she pleaded that I take it away, but then only offered to switch for me. I simply looked at her and asked, "Would you seriously stay here one more night?" There went another $150 down the drain. Judging from what the cleaning staff's reaction and insistence that I make it clear to the front desk what was going on, there seems a bad track record at the place of thorough handling of this. This IS NOT something you want to deal with as a traveler, yet I am not sure they are dealing with it as proprietors with the seriousness needed. Just stay somewhere else. It is a massive pain in the butt trying to disinfect everything, it will cost you money, and you get to spend three weeks after you get home holding your breath that one still didn't somehow ending up coming home with you. A pretty decent hotel for what it is. There were several sporting events, a film festival, and other events going on when I was in Oxford, so this was the only hotel I could find a room at. It was reasonably quiet and clean, and the staff was nice. The sheets were scratchy and the pillows were pathetic, but it's a Super 8, so you take what you get. And it was cheap. It's an easy walk to campus (15 minutes) if you are up for that. I'm kind of crazy that way. Oh, and there's a great coffee place right next door (High Point Coffee) that you can walk to if you want. Plus it's right across the street from Rebel Rags, a good place to buy Ole Miss hats, t-shirts, and whatnot. read more

The place is disgusting!!!!! Arrived at 5 am and got charged an extra fee. The first room they put us in the power didn't even work. They moved us to a second room and you could barely see inside the room because of how dim the lights were. When I was finally able to get more light and inspect the room there was mold every where, the shower didn't work, the tub was disgustingly dirty, and there were stains everywhere. I asked for a refund for the rest of the night that I'm not staying there since I refuse to stay there with how nasty it is and they told me no I can't get any money back what so ever. We were nervous, given the previous reviews. When we called to make reservations we specifically asked about cleanliness etc. They said the hotel had been doing ongoing renovations and agreed to give us one of the more recently redone rooms. Our room was clean, pleasant. Desk staff were helpful. For the price, our experience hit the mark. As with any hotel, ask for what you want, set your expectations according to the price, and make the most of what you get. We spent the money we saved on yummy food and cocktails in town! read more

If you're in Oxford, MS and you need a place to stay, the Super 8 is your hotel. This isn't the fanciest hotel in the world, but it does the trick. Furnishings are old, so be prepared. There aren't new-fangled faux-down comforters or giant, fluffy pillows on the beds, but the beds were comfortable and warm. The decor comes right out of the 80s, so don't expect anything modern. There was, at least, an LCD TV in the room that received a decent amount of non-24 hour news network channels. There was also a blow dryer, which was helpful for me since I never bring one (I always assume they just exist in hotel rooms). Mini fridge (empty) for your convenience, should you buy anything you want to be cold later. Free breakfast which, as a few others said, was pretty good for a discount hotel. Waffle-maker, cereal, rolls, breads, etc. and decent coffee. There was a Starbucks nearby on the Ole Miss campus if that floats your boat (as it does mine). That's it, right? It's a good hotel for a place to sleep and rest if you're in the area. read more

I have stayed in hotels where I spent half the amount and at least there wasn't a fear of Mersa or Staff infection. A towel covered in old blood, food stuck to the walls, pubic hair on the toilet seat, mold on the shower curtain. Come on guys this is hotel 101. I seriously skipped shaving my legs in the shower for fear if I nicked myself I might contract some horrible bacteria. Obviously this place has no sense of pride or any kind of standards. The bed bugs at Super 8 do bite! I thought bed bugs were a myth until I saw one crawling on my pillow. I hadn't Googled to find out what they looked like yet so I brushed it off and fell into a deep sleep while my cousin frantically checked his bed for bugs. Finding nothing, he too went to sleep. He; however, woke up with bites. It was gross and I felt so bad for not taking his concerns seriously! Aside from that, this hotel is under new management. Under the new management, we found higher rates! We also discovered an empty space where these rooms used to have refrigerators and microwaves. Even though the website states the rooms have mini refrigerators and the pictures on the website show microwaves on top of the refrigerators, neither was in the room when we arrived. I really could have used both to store and heat some good, good BBQ. Just saying! Since I traveled with guys, my cousins also need me to point out that the TVs were small (18 inches) and not what they want to watch during All Star Weekend. The website also lists cots/rollaways as a general amenity. What it doesn't mention is that you will pay $10 to get one for the night. Finally, we were given a room across from where the ladies who clean the rooms eat and argue. They had a microwave in there! They also had privacy in which to argue loudly about who was (or wasn't) going to clean what. Overall, it didn't seem like a bad place to stay on the surface. It looked nice and the continental breakfast was decent (waffles, yogurt, cereal, apples, muffins, and juice). If I could rate this zero I would. Absolute worst hotel I've ever stayed in. It is old, blood stain on shower curtain, carpeted floors are actually sticky and furniture is stained, scratched and old. The towels are the size of hand towels and almost as thin as paper towels and you generously get just one each. All this said, this is child's play compared to the smell! My husband and I both couldn't sleep it smelled so bad. We had to go buy a scented candle to attempt to mask the smell. Last. But not least, my Fitbit watch was stolen by the maid. How do I know, my Fitbit monitored steps when NOT in my possession! I don't take accusing someone lightly. I know accommodations are limited in Oxford on event weekends but trust me, you'd be better off sleeping in your car! read more

I stayed for five nights while I was in town attending a conference at Ole Miss. Overall, my experience was decent: the staff was friendly, and the rooms were comfortable. Moreover, it was by far the least expensive motel I could find on short notice in the middle of the summer, and one of the local bus lines stops (literally) right outside the motel, which meant a direct ride to campus in about twelve minutes. Breakfast was above average for a discount motel, including not only juice, coffee, pastries, fruit, and cereal, but also cook-them-yourself Belgian waffles. But is it really necessary to have Fox "News" on in the dining room in the morning? Couldn't it be something less obviously biased, even if the bias is in favor of what is clearly the majority viewpoint for the other hotel guests? Can't they put on something that just reports the news without making us think that the anchors have been blowing John Boehner during the commercial break? The pool is small, only five feet deep at its deepest, and not in any way temperature controlled. The grubby lounge chairs near the pool would need to be sprayed down with a pressure washer before they'd be suitable to sit in. Hotel cleanliness was mediocre, to say the least. After my first day at the conference, I came home to find that my room had not been cleaned at all -- the bed wasn't made up, there were no clean towels left, the ashtrays were full, the trash cans hadn't been emptied: It was perfectly clear that no one had been in at all. I also discovered that one of the lamps in the room had no light bulb in it, and had to walk down to the front desk to pick one up (and complain about the lack of maid service -- that didn't happen again while I was there). Minimal to no effort is put into keeping the halls and walkways clean, too: A set of beer bottles near a stairwell sat there for the last three days I was in the hotel, and the walkway near my room had a used condom lying on the floor for my entire visit. Since I was curious as to whether either of these situations would be rectified without being reported by me, I kept my silence. Both problems still existed when I checked out. All in all, though, not a bad experience for a cheap motel, and livable for a few days if you keep your shoes on while you're walking around outside. read more

First, the check in was not good and the front desk person seemed to be a bit "color blind" (if you understand what I mean) - he sent the maintenance person to our room to check a light and I felt that he may have been the same as well ("color blind"). The room SEEMED okay, until I got to the bathroom and it went down hill - disgusting. There as a line of dirt or mold across the toilet tank. The actual toilet bowel was filthy and there was a ring around the tub. Needless to say we did not take a shower, that's how bad it was. We inspected the bed, and everything seemed okay except for the nasty filthy duvet (comforter that sits on top of the bed) was stained up completely. Asked for TWO sets of sheets and both were dirty with one looking to have what appeared to be blood on it!!! It was so bad that we slept with our clothes on and tried not to touch anything. I literally felt disgusting being in the room but I would have rather been sweaty and not to take a shower than to take a shower - so you know that's bad. The microwave worked, however the mini fridge seemed to be on the fritz or turned down so low that we could have left our food and drinks out and it would have been the same thing - literally by morning all that was cold on the drinks was he very bottom and very barely. The breakfast was poor...not much offered. What was offered looked to have been there for a while and the lady putting out the food just complained about how poorly run the place was but that management/owners wouldn't listen to her. The bathrooms are right near the dining area where breakfast is served which I found to be highly awkward. I would not stay here ever again, if I could help it. I'd rather pay the extra money to stay somewhere else rather than here. Hope this helps someone because we would have been better off sleeping in the car of the Walmart parking lot rather than to stay at the hotel. To their defense; my husband said he's seen worse; he's says it wasn't the best but not that bad; it's just that we have two different standards for what is deemed disgusting. Orbitz didn't cancel my reservation as instructed & hotel is billing me after the 1st night of a reserved 3 night stay. I am in current dispute with orbitz, it in the meantime have spoken with the super 8 to cancel my remaining 2 nights & not charge me for the unused room. I would pay for the one night that had already passed. I pleaded with the Mgr, Jack , to not charge me for the remaining 2 nights while I am in the dispute process with Orbitz. I told him I am not staying there & the rooms can be filled. Even doing it out of good customer service , I pleaded not to charge my debit card. (Which would come directly out of my checking account). He said "No, that the hotel is not into losing money" my reply was that I found it hard that they could not fill the room for the next two nights but even so to please consider if anything doing it out of good customer service. He replied again "but his hotel was not into losing money and that money was the most important thing not good customer service". Staff and management were exceedingly polite, but did absolutely nothing to improve our stay. The smoke alarms went off every time we took a shower. The shelves were dusty and there was hair all over the chairs. The beds were really uncomfortable and the sheets were thin and scratchy. Although they have cable, most of the channels didn't work. One of the few good things about this place is the location; the shopping centers and restaurants in West Oxford are within walking distance. read more
