On this visit I slowed down and walked every aisle. The produce section has an impressive variety of fresh vegetables you don't usually see in typical grocery stores. I also spent some time at the seafood counter, which had a large and very fresh-looking selection. They call this the Asian Walmart. It has pretty much anything you need. Started out grabbing a couple of stuffed bao buns already steamed. They had pork filling and egg. Was really tasty. Was wanting some plain bao buns but all they had were stuffed ones so went the bibimbap route. Grabbed the veg needed as well as fresh cut meat. The meat area is not for the faint of heart as they have everything on display. The ambiance is definitely Asian and you can hear the different language conversations going on throughout the store. I got what I needed and got out. Be careful in the parking g lot as it is tight and hard to see. read more

There are 2 Asian supermarkets in Asian district, Cao Nguyen and Chinatown. Cao Nguyên is the newer and bigger one. It's more spacious and the aisles are larger. It looks cleaner as well. There is a always a security guard in the front as well. There are more to go food available at Cao Nguyen and dessert selection. If this is something that want to buy, Cao Nguyen is my go to place. I find the grocery is little more pricy at Cao Nguyen than Chinatown. Of course there are exceptions on certain items but most items are more expensive, not by much though. For grocery goods, I prefer Chinatown because of a slightly cheaper price. read more

Excellent Asian grocery and probably the closest thing OKC has to a Ranch 99 (in being the largest Asian supermarket/grocery in these here parts). Being in the Asian District, the focus is on Vietnamese fare, but they have plenty of snack and food selections from different Asian cultures - including one aisle dedicated to sauces, spices, and unique goods from specific countries. A lot of random products for sale including stuffed dolls made to resemble boba milk tea drinks, religious/spiritual statuettes, altars, cooking ware, furniture and the sort. I've been to 10 different H-Marts and this place is better than H-Mart. I don't know where else to go for boba, satay sauce, powdered Milo drink, and those little lace front plastic flip flops that Gen Z is trying to bring back. There's also a better live fish selection here than some markets on the coast. Go take a look, go down every aisle, get the best fresh mushrooms and basil. I guarantee you've already eaten something from here because this is where half the restaurants in OKC buy their produce. Pronounced "Cow Win" it's basically what happens when a chicken tries to fight a cow on a farm. This is a wonderful grocery store with all kinds of stuff in it, right in the heart of Chinatown Oklahoma City. These Asian grocery stores are becoming much more popular with yelpers and hipsters and families in general and so they should be. The range of goods on offer from all over the world is awesome. Oh, this place! I grew up shopping at this Vietnamese market with my parents. Now that I'm an adult, this place is pure nostalgia for me. It is huge! Bigger than 888 International Market in KC. Prices are very reasonable and I loved going here because I would get to see my folks' friends. My mom is no longer around and my dad doesn't live in OKC anymore so I don't come here, sadly. I do remember they have everything you could want. Their banh mi (Vietnamese sandwiches) were huge and only, ready for this? $3 dollars! Ok, you can pick your jaw up now. No way can you get a decent banh mi for under $6 in KC, and they are usually half the size. You can even eat lunch in there for very cheap. I've not tried but there is a good selection of vegan meals there catered to the Buddhist community that my folks belonged to. This place has it all. read more

The essential International market of Oklahoma City. Don't let the name fool you, this is a gem for food finds from around the globe - you just have to look around to find them. Whenever I can, I always run up to OKC and pick up some essentials for my household (primarily for Asian cuisine) and I love to explore their new offerings. If you watch any of the big youtube travel shows, you'll most likely come across the ingredients to make some of those dishes you watched here. In terms of selection and quality of selection - I give this store 4.5 stars! The prices aren't always visible, but they are usually modestly priced so you won't run across any real shockers. The store itself is kind of dingy and maybe a bit smelly - especially if you have never been in an international grocer. There is a lot of fresh seafood and meats that help contribute to the scent but it shouldn't be offputting. The toilets are a mess and there are a few customs that you might not be aware of and I'll leave that to you to discover. Just don't expect it to be very clean in the washrooms at any given time. Aside from groceries, they have freshly cooked goods and even some household items for cooking/cleaning etc. It is really a nice place to wander around if you have time to kill and you never know what cool item you will come across. Overall, it is one of the best international markets in the area. There are other markets across the states that rank much higher but since they aren't situated here, it's not fair to compare. It's a really fun and adventurous place to visit. and I think you should come to check it out. Just don't set your expectations too high. read more

Just moved to OKC from LA, and finding a nearby Asian grocery store was pretty high on my to-do list. It smells just like a Ranch 99 grocery store when you walk in. (: I would say that what they sell tends to gear more towards the Vietnamese population here, and the Korean/Chinese products are fewer in quantity and higher in price. However, I have been able to find everything I need here, and it is always fun to discover new foods that I have not tried before! I will be visiting frequently for sure! read more

Since moving back from Hawaii to Oklahoma it's nice to have a Asian supermarket to buy some of our favorite foods. This is one of he best Asian markets in Oklahoma City. The vegetables here are the best quality and the best price. They always have fresh fruit already cut up in packages to eat on the way home from the market. In the mornings they have a place at the front of the store where you can have steamed buns and other yummy foods to eat. It's great! I wish I lived closer to this market because it really is a great deal and there's always some interesting foods to try. read more

Just had to drop in and update my Super Cao Nguyen review after stopping in the other day. I only needed a few things, but it always feels good to be at Cao Nguyen! I need rice paper wrappers for some spring rolls I was planning to make, and of course I had to get some of the good edamame and wonderful fresh, affordable produce. I also grabbed some baguette (because, why not... it's better than La Baguette due to a high soft bread to crusty bread ratio). I also love that it is such a well-oiled machine. Plexiglass already up, masks everywhere, and the fastest check out in all the land. Pro tip: This isn't Whole Foods. This is THE grocery store and an important part of the community for OKC's thriving Vietnamese population, especially of an older generation. Don't act like you own the place. Please be mindful of the elders, don't make comments about food products or smells you don't understand, and just generally try to make sure you don't act like an entitled hipster when you're here. If you can't do that, then may I suggest visiting literally any other grocery store in town. read more

I love Super Cao Nguyen. I don't come in as often as I'd like, just because I hate their parking lot and well, it smells fishy, and I don't need as much from here. But the other day I wanted to buy chopsticks. I love pho and ramen and I feel WRONG eating them with a fork or spoon or really anything except chopsticks. Actually, I feel that way about any Chinese food. So, I needed my own. And they have what I needed. A full dozen plastic, green chopsticks for $2.99. I feel like a bandit. This is where you can find all the dishes for a Chinese restaurant, incense, altars, knives, Buddhas, etc. They have fish and meat. They have massive quantities of rice and pasta and sauces. I want to give two stars in comparison to other large markets I would frequent when I lived out of the state, but comparing an ethnic grocery store in OK to one in the most culturally diverse city in the USA is kinda not fair. This market has an good selection of everything ESE Asia. The canned, dry, and packaged goods are all excellent. They have a bunch of nicknacks, cookware, drink ware, and small to ginormous lawn decorations like eagles in flight grasping serpents punctured by their talons. The hot bars are okay; there is one at the front entrance and another about 26' in the store. The meat and produce section are interesting. This is so far my favorite Asian grocery store in OKC. Having been uprooted from the DC area, I thought my days of fresh produce and Asian goodies was over. But no worries, I found super cao! Large selection of all kinds of leafy greens and Asian veggies, sometimes I don't even recognize these veggies, that's how authentically Asian it is, haha. A lot of herbs which I know are daily necessity for southeast Asian cuisine. Decent selection of fruits, not quite as robust of a selection as it was on the east coast but I'm keeping in mind that this is a Vietnamese store, not a Chinese one, so naturally more tropical/exotic selection. There's fresh Thanh's tofu (which is another good spot). This is the real deal guys, reminds me of tofu from my hometown where it's freshly made daily and sold in blocks they cut off per your request. There's always an assortment of prepared foods in the front, Asian corn on a cob, sticky rice dishes, rice cakes, pudding, etc. most of what we've tried so far are decent, the more adventurous looking ones were a little different for my taste, but the pudding and sticky rice were my go to. Large seafood and meat selection with butcher on site to prepare your meats as requested. I haven't tried the seafood yet but overall looked fresh. Again, this is a Vietnamese store and not Chinese so understandably I can't find as much Chinese goods here, but definitely enough of a selection to cover your basic Asian style cooking. (Not a large selection of moon cakes for the recent mid autumn festival). I've read that on weekends there's hot pastry selection in the front of the store but we have yet to check that out. All in all, great selection for it being not in a huge Asian hub and I'm definitely happy about having such easy access Update: tried their weekend selection of fresh pastries. Didn't see any stew for entree. the Chinese cruller has the right concept but way too greasy, the sesame ball has a mung bean filling instead of black sesame, and the meat pie is again a bit greasy. The churro was crunchy and delicious per the hubby. All in all not too impressed with the bakery part but I'll take what I can get! read more

OOOOO MMMMMM GGGGGGGGGG! I LOVVVVVVVE THIS PLACE! I go here for the crazy odd's & ends that I can't find at the normal OKC grocery stores! I get my raw dog bones here for $0.99/lb! You can ask them to chop them into thirds and they're PERFECT! All sorts of crazy odds & ends that you'l find! They have super cheap tapioca flour! I shop here frequently. This is only if the biggest Asian market in Okc. I am from the Houston area and I can say this store isn't missing much. Although having a bigger hit food deli would be good. They serve hot banh Bao and other items on the weekend right at the entrance. This store has fresh herbs, fresh veggies and fruits... large selection of seafood and diff types of meats. I highly recommend buying meat from the meat deli. They have a section where there is prepackaged meat at the end of the store but it never looks right. If I wanted beef bones, I'll ask the butcher TJ chop it up for me. I do buy my fish here too. There's a nice guy in the seafood section that will cut it or clean it however you want it. The guys in the pork and beef area are always super nice and helpful. The guy in the seafood section that a bit older and always has a hair net on, he's sometimes rude and you feel like you're bothering him. I've lived in Oklahoma for 26 years and don't understand how I had never visited this spot. It's such a cool and unique grocery store. I honestly didn't feel like I was in Oklahoma, but rather in one of the stores in a coastal city. They have such a vast selection of items that I had more time, I could have easily spent 1-2 hours just looking through everything. Also, I'd venture to say that Super Cao has one of the largest selections of fresh fish in the city. As per expected, the prices were fair and checkout was a breeze. Super Cao Nguyen is my go-to place for those Asian snacks and food that I cannot find anywhere else in OKC. At the deli counter, pick up some fresh baguettes. I pick up a few and stick them in my freezer. When I am ready to eat them, leave them out on the kitchen counter for about an hour to thaw. The bread will taste fresh like the day you bought it. The veggie and fruit section is mainly for Asian cooking so don't expect to find broccoli, American apples, cantaloupe, etc. Just think as if you are in Asia and what Asians eat in Asia. Makes sense? The seafood is fresh. I go for the fresh shrimp behind the counter as opposed to the frozen ones in bags and boxes in the freezer. Ask one of the guys behind the meat/seafood counter to bag you up some fresh seafood and meat. They have an endless supply of Asian sauces and spices. Anything you want to eat and make (as if you are in Asia) is here for your liking! I can go on and on about this store, but I'll just tell you what I normally get when I go here: 1. Mama pork flavored ramen noodles (a whole box) 2. Maggi seasoning - It's certainly not soy sauce and I thank Maggi for that. 3. Korean pork and vegetable dumplings - They're in the freezer section. You can't miss it. Look for Korean writing. That's all I know. 4. Meiji Almond Chocolate - These bad boys will change your life. The Japanese sure know how to make legit chocolate. 5. I was pleasantly surprised to have found such place in Oklahoma! There aren't very many Asian grocery stores in Oklahoma so genuinely ecstatic when I came across this supermarket. They carry a good abundance of most Asian goods, including varieties that fall within Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Filipino, and other Asian cultural goodies! It definitely reminds me of a typical Asian supermarket I would go to back in California with some restrictions probably due to demand and/or importation. They're also located in what seems to be an Asian hotspot with other shops and eateries. They carry fresh fruits, vegetables, and proteins. From what I can tell, the few times I've visited, they do keep their inventory in check and provide as fresh as possible products! I think what excited me the most was that they carry live fish, something that I will definitely be getting and cooking! They carry a large variety of beef and pork, including bones that make for a great bone soup! One thing I did notice was that they don't carry lamb meat. Nevertheless, I am extremely satisfied with how much Asian products I can find in one place! Some things are definitely expensive, almost to an outrageous amount in my opinion, but it makes sense if they have to ship it from far away while maintaining freshness. It always makes me happy when I see ethnicities other than Asians shopping in an Asian supermarket and you definitely see a lot of that here!
