A warm rain shower had just passed, the sound and smell of the ocean delightful and the uneven pot holed streets were very wet. The breeze was gentle and it was 32c. The bakery smells were amazing and while I was after the apple pies I also grabbed two pineapple tarts as they looked appetising with a shortcrust pastry base and a sponge topping. So six pastries €12.60: four pommes, two pineapple. The chausson apple puff pastry was delicious, light and generously filled. Really village France Boulanger at their best. The locals sat a tables under umbrellas sipping coffee, chatting and snacking. This is the sort of puff pastry you could eat a lot of. The pineapple tarts sadly tasted poor in comparison. Like mainland France the service here is very slow, real courteous always (although the Normandy French can be a bit prickly and snappy) and they took a card payment. This bakery is in the small quiet town of Deshaies where Death in Paradise is filmed for many years - a Christmas special comes out St Stephen's Day with three Santas killed at the same time and series 14 (I think) starts filming April 2025. What a delightful bakery for the film crew to dine in just thank the location scout.

We reserved online weeks in advance to Make sure our group of 12 would be serviced. It's on the strip so very easy to spot if walking and all drivers know how to get you here safely. Take a few before pictures out front for your record. Brain cells will be lost. Check in was very easy. Give your name and welcomed with rum punch! They link you with a host who's filled with information. If you are paired with Sparkles you better be ready for entertainment. I think she said we try 21? 29? different rum flavors. Also tried food and desserts made with the rum. Are group of 12 merged with 2 or 3 smaller groups and it was loads of fun. Stuff is kinda fuzzy. Most rums were white. Most were very sweet. A few unique flavor combinations that I've never seen before. Half way in you want water over rum but rum is my best friend and so inviting we keep partying!
