I even grabbed a few pieces of their sweet bread to serve with strawberries and whipped cream. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and generous. The carnitas were tender and perfectly seasoned, the fajitas were juicy, and the menudo was exactly what you want, rich, comforting, and authentic. The guacamole and salsa are freshly made. Best part? All of that was under $50. The staff is always friendly and they recognize their regulars, which makes it feel like a true neighborhood spot. OMG !!! Fresh cut pigs feet for $2.68 a pound !!! I bought 4 pounds !!! Trying out a recipe I concocted in my head :-) I call it pigs feet on the fly !!! 4 pounds of pigs feet, pack of menudo spice, 4 cans of condensed consume, 2 green bell peppers, 2 large white onions, 6 small/medium potatoes (cut up all veggies). Place pigs feet in a medium deep foil pan, cover with menudo spice, then cover with veggies, then add 4 cans of condensed consume, 4 cans of water. Cover tightly with foil, place on your pellet smoker for 2 hours at 370°, then remove foil and cook an additional hour, then serve !!! read more

Okay, where do i start. You step into that place and the first thing you will notice is the punch of delicious smell of food. We are customers on a regular basis (pretty much every week) and we have never been disappointed. The service is really good, very friendly and customer oriented employees. But their food is on a high level. Mexican comfort food, so good you have to try to believe it! A few things i would like to highlight: Their Mole! A nice balance of heat and flavor, a nice little hint of cinnamon, paired with a smooth texture of the sauce! Yummy! The Picadillo! Just perfectly seasoned and the right meat to veggie ratio! Delicious! Their Frijoles de la olla! Give me a big container of that stuff, some tortillas and i don't need anything more to male my tummy and my taste buds happy! Maybe a second spoon, so i can shuffle it in my mouth like a harvester!! As a latina coming from San Diego, I was SO relieved to move close to a great mercado. I've been able to eat all of my family recipes without issue. Their marinated fajita nortena is superb for making tacos, the back right counter sells plates of classic tacos, burritos, and more, they have fresh tortillas, the pan dulce selections are good, and the shrimp ceviche is amazing. I do wish the store were a little bigger, as the aisles are narrow and cannot accommodate shopping carts. Also, the parking lot is pretty old with pot holes and faded lines. Other than that, I feel like I have a little piece of home down the street with this market. Anyone looking to cook authentic Mexican food should be shopping here. read more

Super-V is a hidden gem of a place. This carniceria is a good supplement to the standard HEB/Randall's in that you can find many Hispanic specialties, particularly in the meat section. At first glance it looks busy and a little cramped, but it's well-ordered and very clean. Do NOT miss the little attached grill/cafe! I was a little disappointed that they weren't making the burger combo when I arrived, but that was a blessing in disguise. Instead I got the 3-taco combo, with portions of barbacoa, carnitas, and chicken adobo, on corn tortillas and it was superb! I followed that up with a mouth-watering plate of the 'pupusa', a flatbread filled with shredded chicken and served with a kind of cole slaw. Finally, I got to try a couple of the flan-type cakes sold in the bakery section. The flan's excellent, as is a combo flan+devil's food cake. Oh, and if your arteries can handle it...there are *three* different kinds of chicharron! Throw out the stuff you find in the plastic bags from the 'snack' section of the grocery store. You need the real deal with hunks of pork clinging to the fried surface. There's regular bite-size chicharrons, an extra-meaty ten-inch version called chicharron en carnitas, and the forbidding chicharron delgado, which are at least two feet long! Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. read more

Typical little Mexican bodega. A lot of Mexico products, fresh produce, nice meat market.

Update: this place is better every time I go. Service and hospitality is top notch. The store is clean and well stocked. The prices are still incredible on meat. This is the only place we buy meat now. I tried the tres leches cake in vanilla and chocolate, and both are incredible. You can get a quarter sheet size topped with glazed fruit, very lovely, for less than $24. You can get slices for $2.49. Just try it. Trust me! Now the best part...the burgers. They have a black angus burger on a sweet Hawaiian style bun that is probably the best burger north of Austin. You don't need ketchup or mustard. Soft bun, grilled on the inside. Melted, gooey cheese, lettuce, tomato, red onion, and a nice sized burger that is cooked perfectly. Add a side of perfectly cooked steak cut fries, and you'll be very happy. If you don't go there and try the burger at least once...well you're missing out! (And more for me!) read more

The store looked well stocked with meats, spices, soaps, candy, etc but we were there for a breakfast taco at about 11am. The nice lady behind the counter didn't speak English and I don't speak Spanish so she just shook her head no and pointed to the steamer trays loaded with chicken, beans, rice and more showing me that they were now serving lunch. I asked for a chicken burrito. She nodded and grabbed a large tortilla and a piece of roasted chicken which she pulled into shreds and then asked about lettuce, tomato, avocado and more until we both smiled and agreed on 'everything'. It was huge by the time she added all that and rice. And then added a jalapeño and some fried tortillas too. I didn't hear any English there although people were streaming in and out the whole time we ate there. All in all it was obviously where the locals eat: good and plentiful. read more

The meat here is so fresh. my parents wouldn't shut up about it that they actually came on their own the very next day. must stop at the taqueria in the corner. I don't write many reviews but this place is great. I have been coming since it opened 1.5 it 2 years now. Meat is what I'm usually after. Good price decent selection. Usually when I come this great manager is always working and talking to me and hooking me up with great products. One time I came and talked to him just buying normal meats and I told him about how I wanted to roast a pig. He didn't have a pig but had several heads in the back to experiment on and would get me anything I wanted in a few days. I was excited! Fast forward several months and he always greets me and asks what he can stock that he doesn't (basic pasta). I found out tonight he is actually the owner. This many years and he was more interested in what I needed than anything. I always thought he was one of the managers. I always liked the place but now even more so because they really want to provide what customers wants. He didn't brag, just wanted to help some cook awesome good. For that I am grateful.
