I was quoted $51 for a 10-inch yellow cake, and for that price I expected at least some level of customization and customer service. I wanted a 3-layer yellow cake with real fruit and two different filling flavors between the layers. However, I was told that Sweet Eats Bakery only makes cakes in bulk and that customers must choose from a pre-set list of cake and filling combinations. I was informed that each cake contains two layers of the same filling and that selecting different fillings for each layer was not an option. Wanting to see if an exception could be made for what seemed like a simple request, I spoke with the manager, Bridgett. Unfortunately, she also refused to accommodate the request and reiterated that I had to choose from the existing options. When I asked whether they would rather lose a customer than honor a simple request that would not create any hardship for the bakery, she responded that they would rather lose a customer. At that point, they lost me as a customer. For a bakery charging premium prices, I expected more flexibility, better customer service, and a willingness to work with customers on reasonable requests. Instead, I was told to take it or leave it. I chose to leave it, and I will not be returning. If you're looking for a custom cake tailored to your preferences, this may not be the place for you.
