I didn't feel like seeing a 20 year old girl cry that evening though so I just paid and left with making a fuss. I'm still going to keep their star average up though because of how they handled it when i reached out after. I know the problem was the their booking system was configured wrong and matched me with someone who couldn't do it. They were nice, gave me a refund and it and promised to fix the software configuration. I wasn't going anywhere for the next couple weeks anyway. I'm sure the kid knows to just say "sorry, I can't do men's hair" next time. I don't have API access but trust her JSON object no longer returns 'mens' and they're not using XML for anything either. I'm not posting a photo of myself with a bad haircut but here's my dog Maya.

I was already on my way when I received the notice. I understand that illness happens, but a 15-minute heads-up is not acceptable. They offered to reschedule, which I appreciate, but made no attempt to compensate for the wasted trip and time. Better communication and some goodwill -- even a small discount on a future visit -- would have gone a long way.

The second Poppy Salon location moved back to the original building. I wasn't sure about both…read morelocations being moved into one or how parking would be, but those were all just stupid little human worries that didn't matter. The salon was easy to find, tucked away in a corner. There's plenty of parking on either sides of the building. Poppy Salon is full of life and individuals with artistic skills. It may be busy inside but the energy is infectious. This isn't a permanent location, however, and Poppy Salon will eventually be moved into a larger building next year. I'm really looking forward to seeing the changes! I personally work with Isabella (Isa) and have been seeing her for over a year now. She is such a vibe and I have so much fun when I see her! Isa is incredibly talented with vivid hair color. I went to someone else in between colorings (yes, I cheated and came crying back) and it was just not the same. Isa is worth the 45 minute drive! My appointment was with a new stylist, Sierra, who was personable, but several important steps in styling my curly hair after the cut were missed. My sides were over-dried and left uneven, while my crown was still wet. Product application felt minimal, an afterthought, and I wasn't shown what was used during the styling process. After the appointment, I even needed to apply a deep conditioner at home because my hair felt dry from the excessive blow-drying. More broadly, there didn't seem to be much in the way of quality control or accountability to ensure customer satisfaction before leaving the chair. When I raised concerns, I was told the only option was to return to the same stylist for corrections. That approach doesn't feel workable when the issue involves multiple missed basics and a lack of trust in the initial service.
