Superior Outfitters is generally a pretty good store. There's alot to like. They have a pretty decent selection of firearms of all types and they even have supressors, powered by The Silencer Shop. Also, the staff are friendly and attentive. Additionally, I like that they have a table with several tablets for filling out paperwork, making purchases and transfers go much faster than at other stores. There are, however, some aspects that stop Superior Outfitters from being a GREAT store. One aspect is the selection itself. While they do stock virtually any type of firearm that you can think of, they seem to lean towards the higher end weapons. Of course this translates into a smaller selection for those who have smaller budgets. That isn't necessarily a knock on the store, as they do seem to price what they do have reasonably for the most part (I'm definitely no expert, especially when talking about an AR that cost $2k), but this ensures that Superior Outfitters will never be the first place I look. The other areas where I think Superior Outfitters falls a bit sort is in the accessory department. Sure, they do have some stuff, but it seems that they never have anything interesting and I usually end up going down the road to Bass Pro to find what I'm looking for. For instance, they have several variations of Ruger 10/22 and similar rifles covering a good chunk of wall space, but they almost never have mags or other accessories for them. Frankly, that's just dumb considering the 10/22 is the most accessorized firearm in the history of firearms. Of course this extends to plenty of other products and gear as well. Ammo is the the other area where this store slips. The selection is moderate at best and overpriced. I check it out from time to time to maybe catch a sale, but have never seen any price that Acedemy or Bass Pro can't beat easily. This would be less of an isse if both stores were not right down the road. It's unlikely that I would ever buy ammo at Superior Outfitters. Additionally, they do not carry reloading supplies. Don't get me wrong, it's definitely up to them to decide if it's worth the hassle or not, but when I'm buying guns or ammo, I almost always pick up some reloading component even if it's just a box of primers. I'm definitely not knocking Superior Outfitters. It's a decent store overall, just not my go-to one stop shop. If you're looking for something out of the ordinary, it's a good place to go. read more

Has been my go to place since it was a pawn since it opened in the French Quarter down by where Ken's is now. Came to a realization today. If I walk in wearing office clothes sales guys practically jump over the counter at me. Walk in with jeans and a tshirt to buy a supressor and an AR lower nothing but Crickets. I have to listen to a sales guy sit there and jerk off a pistol dry firing it for 30 minutes talking to a tire kicker. I have spent 1000s there over the years, the only way they will get another dime is if I am desperate. Try to support a local business and they literally push you to Academy or Bass Pro. The red headed guy, should spend more time selling than jerking off a pistol. read more

I bought a Rossi R92 rifle in .38/.357, something I had wanted for quite some time, from Superior on 11-23-2023. Upon attempting to operate the weapon, I found a retaining screw was missing and Loc-Tite in the threads. It was very evident that it was removed after delivery to Superior. Took it back on 11-30-2023 and was told they would take care of it. They even say " Bring it here if you have any problems". After numerous calls, false information from staff, and over a month passed, I returned and was further lied to by TWO Asst. Managers. Requested a refund which they did not want to do, but ATF regulations require refund/replacement for such issues. Got my money back, won't ever return. read more

So I go in the store to buy an AK 47 that I have been waiting for sales person takes it down for me to look at I attempt to take the top cover off and it wouldn't budge so I gave it to him and he couldn't do it either and then I said "I would buy that cash money right now if that was fixed" he didn't do anything but put it up and said nothing else, What a joke I have bought many guns from there now I don't wanna go back, he was very rude and lost out on a 1,000 sale read more

The staff spent a lot of time showing us lots of pistols they thought we would like. I finally decided on one that I am very happy with. This is a pretty good shop, but I'm giving them 1 star because they are putting some of the most desirable stuff on GunBroker so they can make more money and pay sales associates less commissions. Had a gun ship to Superior Outfitters and it showed delivered on my UPS tracking email. Went inside to to start the process FFL paperwork and the Sales person tell me that they got a lot of guns in today. Then the sales person tell me that he would go look. He then came back telling me that he couldn't find and it take 24 to 48 hours before it will be processed in to pick-up. If I knew this then I would had the gun ship to more of a trusted FFL dealer which could process purchased guns before their store inventory. I will not be doing anymore business with Superior Outfitters!!! read more

Great selection at fair prices. I have done business with them several times over the years. The only down side is that you have to be patient. Their sales associates are very busy helping other customers and it can make the wait rather long. I would put the sales associates knowledge at fair. Mostly depending on which one you get. Recently went to superior in tyler. They had advertised no limit on shells on facebook so I. Got a variety of what I needed. Then a manager I believe Bobby was his name said I can't get all that. There was no signs in store saying a box limit. So being treated rudely I put it all back and went to Broadway powerboats and bought me a ar 15. So they lost a ammo and gun sale. They might want to think about it before doing false advertisement. The owner is a nice person but I will never do business with superior again. read more
