We got taken advantage of by Deep Fork Technology, very unethical company we are so disappointed…read morethey had us fooled they knew how to develop a payroll type of software!! $15k later when pushed to see if the setup screens where setup correctly (not just the screenshots of the setup screens) actual program setup screens before moving on to the sprint that is the payroll processing development part. Come to find out, they did not understand how to do the basic stuff, like drop down boxes that needed to have data, tables connected to other screens to pull from, Employee screens, words spelled incorrectly, missing save buttons or next buttons. Setup tables, sprint 1-3 have to be complete and correct in order to move on to sprint 4 the payroll processing part. All they would show me was screen shots each meeting and a quick click through on the development side. I did all what they should have done in MS Access and done it correctly. So, the owner Kris tells me since he had to hire a developer that knows how to do this, because the other developer working on it did not and he quit, my price for the software tripled. He told me he hired someone from Paycom! After talking with this guy, he knows a little more about payroll but does not know how to setup a time and attendance program. Although we signed off on a Scope of Work (what all work needs to be done for the payroll module) and how many hours it would take to complete each sprint and a price per Sprint with a total of 7 Sprints to complete just the payroll module and agreed upon the total price for just that module. We agreed if any sprint takes more hours to complete, we would agree upon adding those hours to that sprint before we move on to the next sprint. The owner is now telling me he cannot do the software for the price we originally agreed upon. After exposing him and each sprint not being completed as he told me they were. He only did 3 sprints and now after being able to look at the actual work they did, none of the sprints were even completed before moving to the next sprint. I feel he was trying to fake it as much as he could get money out of us until as close to the end thinking I was not going to be as involved as he thought. I also fear he wants to use my software idea as his own,!!!! Yes he is that shady and unethical!! I explained to the owner Kris, we had spoke to some other development companies and the price they quoted us. He said they would most likely scam me halfway through tell you they will need more money. Exactly what he did!!! So this time I am being a little more cautious with the development company since I was scammed out of our money. I am beyond heartbroken about this. Deep Fork Technology will not give me the "completed" Sprint 1, 2 & 3 that I have already paid for or a refund. I am so disappointed.

Everything was great early on. I provided a workflow document of my needs and requirements that was…read morediscussed often using the basecamp project management app. I was told sure no problem. I was never told we cant do that. When things became challenging and I started getting blacklisted I asked for a copy of the correspondence and was told they didn't have it anymore. Less than a year later I did take my files and found someone who actually helps my business. A simple website, sure they can do that. However, beware if you have something that is challenging and requires integration and workflow. When the challenges come, they will offer to give you your files (not your money) and boot you out the door vs trying to work with you to make it work as you were promised it would and accepting ownership for their faults. At one point they were testing an error and had to charge their cc to test it, I believe it was for less than 5$. I was asked to refund them, I laughed and did so. Their website states they work to help your business grow, not the experience I had. Also make backup copies of all your correspondence. Another fault is they will nickel and dime you to death and never admit any fault. At one point the owner Dave asked me to prove a product was on my site as it wasn't working and I needed support....I sent him a link to it, never heard any apologies or sorry I missed it, everything was my fault. Terrible experience. They have a built in charge in case they underestimate the work, I knew my site was complicated and gladly paid it thinking I was going to have this great site I had asked for, it was worth it, right? Or so I thought. We went live and it was a nightmare. Nothing had been tested before go live, my customers were sending me terrible emails, I lost sales, a guest couldn't buy a product without setting up an account on the site... People were trying to buy products and they couldn't. People renewing subscriptions could not. At one point the poor girl at Back40 felt bad and started working as my secretary manually helping my customers check out, she was great! I have no issues with the support staff. My issues were with sales and the owner. They do have high turnover or at least they did at the time. Probably part of my issue. So I invested about 12k$ with Back40 overall and left after bringing a lawyer into our correspondence when Dave said he was cutting off my business. Afterall I had no proof since they wouldn't give me access to the development files. In less than a year after developing a new site with Back40 I am developing a new site again. They oversold their capabilities, never admitted any fault and I am sure the response will be more of the same.

In both cases, they actually listened to our needs and desires, both esthetically and functionally...FROM ACROSS THE COUNTRY! We are based in Southern California and they were able to design a site geared for our customer; the surfer and our product; the surfboard! Whenever we (Stamps Surfboards) contact them, they are super responsive. They are very creative and professional and they have the experience needed to get the job done right... Their hosting is awesome too!
