And It is much easier to have some quality control over the smaller selection of dishes hey serve. The service is friendly. The food is delicious. But make sure you make a reservation if you plan to dine here on the weekends. They have limited seats and they are often overbooked. Ps. If you consider going to Kimchi Bar, it's better visit Gamasot first. This is the real deal. Kimchi Bar isn't authentic.

As well its interior, very not Korean but quite homey and with a lot of character. The staff is very welcoming and friendly too. The food, although Korean, does not stand out as much. The city doesn't have a lot of Korean restaurants which is why I like the almost novelty of Allegaartje, but it serves the regular Korean BBQ, kimbap, bibambap and mandu. All of which by itself are not quite remarkable and very 'make it in your own kitchen'-friendly. Not saying it isn't tasty, but if you've had any before it won't be very impressive. The BBQ (€25) does offer some well marinated beef, but that's it. I'm used to getting more than just beef, or at least the option to bbq more than beef alone. The kimbap and mandu or okay-ish. When I return I would like to try the bibimbap, which is fairly priced (€11-12). For first timers Korean food, Allegaartje will be pretty nice. But for me I rather get something better for the money, or the same for less.

We try out almost all meats and they all seem to be of good quality. The fact that you cook the food yourself is of course adding to the experience. Great also to see that the grill is changed regularly to make sure we can keep the efficiency up ;). The only thing on the negative scale is the location and the venue is quite...bland. It's new and fresh and everything I would not have wished from a Korean restaurant. I would like the more crowded and busy feeling to also do a virtual trip back to Seoul when visiting Kimchi. Don't ask them about the food, their opinions, or anything else because they will only begrudgingly respond. Once you order, you can find somewhere to sit. Seating is extremely limited, and you're more likely to share a space with others than to have your own space. While we were sitting waiting for our food, which by the way is not brought to the table your number is called and you have to return back to the counter to pick it up yourself, they do have an entire wall filled with tchotchkes and food items. Number called and we picked up our food and we needed to ask for napkins and cutlery, because none of that was provided. The food pretty much was bland to mediocre, and the dishes that we ordered that should've been hot, were barely room temperature. The eggs in the dishes we ordered were premade and cold. Poor form, poor food, poor quality. Just not good whatsoever. The wontons were very rubbery and we were not able to eat them. They were that bad. But once inside the place is so INclusive. Which is great. No wannabees, nothing pretentious, just passionate and friendly people in the kitchen and at the bar. The guests are not snobs at all, which you might expect from the way they present themselves on the website. Why then not cut this crap and just present the place as the trendy inclusive place you have to visit in Rotterdam? Probably because it is pretty hard to find and before you have this word going around you need something extra. The club is situated on the 8th floor of the Groothandelsgebouw. You have to enter into the main hall, past the night receptionist and then into the inner garden where you'll find the entrance totally unexpected. After a welcome from the doorman and leaving your coat at the hostess you are summoned to take the goods elevated to the 8th floor where you enter the place through the kitchen.
