They cook them to perfection with a slight crispy skin. The sauces are tasty and not heavy. I had a side of a baked potato and rice. The rice got a really nice aroma and the potato was moist and baked just right. I discover this place via a few friends who had been raving about this place. I wasn't so convinced at first until they decided to bring the chicken dish to my house. And now I'm hooked. For obvious reason, this is not an ideal location for vegans and vegetarians. ;-)

It was packed when I visited. I enjoyed my meal when I visited this cafe today. The service was friendly and speedy which is a big deal especially when you live in NL. LOL The name of the cafe HOLY SMOKE can be quite deceiving in my opinion. I was really hoping it would be a BBQ smoke house. However, they don't smoke any of their meats. They should consider smoking their meat which will put them apart from the rest of the burger joints in Rotterdam. As of now, they are not bad at all. I find them slightly above average. The pork belly my friend ordered was so so. It was not bad but my friend didn't find anything special with it. In the other hand, the poussin another friend ordered was delicious according to him. Overall, HOLY SMOKE tries to capture the spirit of Southern American BBQ smokehouse dinner vibe. In many ways, they succeed. It reminds me a bit of the good old souther smokehouse joint you'd find in the southern states of US but much more hip and chic. It is just the flavor is lacking quite a bit. Please, if you consider opening another burger or bbq joint in Rotterdam, either smoke your meat or do something creative with your meat. :-)
