I called the President of Supreme Lawn Care (Richard Wells) to go over a major landscaping job requiring the removal of 64 large hedges and plants, two large oak trees, 5 square yards of mulch chips, and the purchase and installation of 5 square yards of fill dirt, 5 square yards of white river rock, 3 400 square foot pallets of floratam sod, weed barriers, borders, and 20 Indian Hawthorne shrubs. He asked me if there would be any issues with the HOA that governs my area and based on what I had heard 2nd hand up to that point, I told him everything would be fine. Well, I happened upon a neighbor the day before my landscape job was to start and he suggested I check the HOA rules before going forward with the work. So, I went home and researched the HOA's website, something I should have done before signing the contract with Rich, and was shocked to learn that even basic landscaping jobs needed to be approved by some committee within the HOA. Needless to say this could have been a big problem for Rich since he had already hired on a few more people to help with this particular job. Well, I was pleasantly surprised that Rich didn't blow his top when I called him the night before the work was to begin to tell him that it would be another 3-4 weeks before I could submit a proposal and get approval for the job. Not only that, he assisted me in getting the proposal together and just applied the $1000 deposit I had given him toward the future job. If you take a moment to consider the lost wages for jobs him and his workers could have taken on for those two days it was really quite amazing that he was so willing to help me work through the mess I had created. Anyway, that's the real story as far as I'm concerned. The ratings I gave him and his crew tell the rest. They did a terrific job with all the items described above and when the job took a few more hours than planned he was willing to let it slide without any additional costs. We've been interviewing several landscape companies to do paver work and to have a Pergala built.. Richard was THE ONLY contractor who knew the prices off the top of his head and didn't have to call anyone. He was very concise in his estimations and we, as homeowners, were blown away with the finished product.. Everything was stained, and no pacers were broke or ruined during the work/staining...
