Surf Culture run surf schools on the Mid Coast and down at Victor every day. They hire out board, wetsuits and other equipment too, which you can rent from the beach pretty cheap. Or you can do a full lesson which I have done a couple of years ago. I went with my soccer friends when we were teenagers and they picked us up in a bus from Glenunga, drove us down to the beach in a van towing the boards and got us all kitted up for the day. They match the boards and wetsuits to each person according to size and ability and give you a lot of pointers. They conduct a warm up, stretching, practice on the sand and supervise and instruct while in the water. Sessions can run for different amounts of time and can include food/drink breaks. The instructors are really cool, experienced and friendly and make you feel comfortable whether you are a real beginner or want some bigger waves. I'd recommend heading down to Middleton probably, because the waves are usually better, although this last year has been a little small altogether. read more
