The first hole that you hit off is awesome because you're hitting off this big cliff. When I hit the golf ball I actually managed to hit it on the first go so I was pretty proud of myself. The bloke who ran the place said to mum's ex boyfriend and I that we 'might' see some wildlife. When he said that I initially thought we wouldn't see anything but boy was I in for a shock. I thought I was in Australia Zoo. There was so many kangaroos around the golf course. I reckon that we would've seen around upwards of 20 kangaroos. I also saw a few rabbits which was cool. The only downside was that, as a animal lover I wanted to express my love to the kangaroos by giving them a pat but unfortunately they weren't tame. Don't worry, I didn't get too close as I thought they might try to kick me in the head (I saw that happen on a YouTube video to a guy) The holes are pretty good and the grass is really green and luscious. Definitely go on a sunny day. There's this lovely pond thingo but the water needs a clean. There's also seating areas which is pretty good for the oldies and unfit people like myself. All in all, it was a fun day and I LOVED YOUR WILDLIFE!!! read more

The tee shot on the first hole is one of the most exhilarating in golf. It has been included in Australian Golf Digest Hall of Fame as one of “Australia’s Iconic Golf Holes”. It is a marvellous sight and one which has to be amongst the best anywhere – a breathtaking start to a quality golfing experience. The first tee is adjacent to the clubhouse and takes full advantage of the magnificent views of Encounter Bay, including the sparkling blue waters of the Southern Ocean, the grandeur of Granite, Seal and Wright Islands and Rosetta Head (the Bluff).

History

Established in 1911.

The Victor Harbor Golf Club (the ‘Club’) was established on the 8th of September 1911 by its founder Dr Frank Douglas who along with eight other respected business men voted to establish the Club. Land was acquired and a little over a year later the Club held its first Open Day on 28 September 1912.
