It was open at the time I was in the area and it did look inviting. I perused the menu and decided to give it a try. Walking in I saw the old-fashioned furnishings, metal chairs, display cases, wall shelves, big bar in the middle all in a long and narrow room. Yessss, this looks lie something out of the 50s and I like it. After a long hard look at the menu I opted for the Salami platter... Strangely enough there wasn't salami, but more like a smoked ham, prosciutto like meat. It tasted great, so what's in a name. Delicious heirloom tomatoes, capers, salami impersonator, cream cheese, capers, pickles and your choice of bread. I had chosen crumpets and regretted that . Not because they weren't delicious, because they were so yummy, but they were also so buttery that I couldn't get the cream cheese to stick and everything I tried to put on the crumpet just slid right off them. I got the bottomless cup of coffee and I must say, this is really good coffee and the refills kept coming also. I love the atmosphere in here and there are so many great choices on the menu. If I ever come back tot Auckland, I will definitely stop by this place again.

It's a popular place and they were crowded but we didn't have to wait for a table. There was plenty of food for each order. My wife had a street dog and fries and I had a Ruben. They were pretty decent. I wasn't as happy with the fries. They were like the bottom of a pile and mostly little pieces with very few full length slices. Prices were extremely reasonable. I would definitely eat there again.

Flavour makes some awesome pitas…read more Situated on Vulcan Lane, it is a popular place for city goers, university students or people wanting something cheap, fast and tasty. And I can definitely see why. The ordering process is simple and efficient, the staff are friendly, the majority of the pitas are under $10 and the choices are endless. They also have a 'flavour of the day' (regular size for $6), which is fast becoming a popular lunch for me. Their falafel on Wednesdays and roast beef on Fridays are my favourite. But if you are looking for something more exciting, order the Tandoori chicken, and don't forget to add the mango chutney - seriously good! They have little to no seating, so best to take your pita outside - luckily Freyburg Square is just around the corner, so you can enjoy it in the sun!

Oddly through all the name changes it's never strayed away from pitas - it's like they just change the sign on the outside but everything inside stays exactly the same. Anyway, any prior impression of Pita Pit you can basically apply to this place - it's cheap, you can choose what you like, and it's plenty of kai for the coin. Have never had any issue with ingredients, but maybe my expectations were low?! Anyway, good place to come if you can't spare more than say $10 on lunch.

It doesn;t look like anything special from the outset but boy is it special. The Green Crocodile is basically a sandwich bar, but they also do salads and wraps. Pop in there and the lovely old lady will ask you what you'd like. You pick you bread and then fill the sammy with a mountainload of ingredients. Then you can either get it toasted or leave fresh. Yes, it seems like 'just a sandwich bar' but it;s so much more than that. Ther service is so great, and after one visit you'll be treated like a regular, and the amount you get for what you pay is like something from a bygone era. There are no processed ingredients in site and you can really taste the home made freshness. I think that's why it's so good - every sandwich is like the best ever sandwich you could make at home, but canlt be bothered doing. The place is popular, but if there is a wee queue outside, stick it out, it's worth it.

A cheese toasted sandwich is sometimes all that you need, and these are pretty good: the cheese oozes out, and it's all delivered to you hot and tasty. They don't take eft-pos here, so come with cash, although you won't need much; most sandwiches are less than $5. There's also only two tables, so be prepared to takeaway; you can always sit outside on the recently flashed-up Derby Street.

Known…read morefor selling a range of artisan bread loaves, they also offer handmade sandwiches on their delicious pide along with a few other deli items. For a delicious quick bite, we grabbed a couple of sandwiches, one beef and one chicken. The filling options are quite the generic such as chicken, beef, ham and vegetarian but lets be honest, those are the fillings that suit most. They were great for something light and had a delicious chutney or tomato jam. Its good if you are being health conscious or just not a fan of mayo like myself. They aren't anything fancy but a sandwich can make or break based on the bread it's served on - the fresh pide just makes it. If you're just looking for that loaf of bread to dip with in that extra gravy at dinner, or to make that delicious home made garlic bread, grab one of the many loaves they have on to offer. Its only a small store so I would recommend just grabbing anything takeaway. No big deal! At Wild Wheat you can not only get loaves of bread, but also individual bread rolls (including mini burger buns, cute), pies, meringues, slices and award winning hot cross buns for Easter.
