Great spot in Ventura county. Lots of parking (need to pay) Inlet had shallow spots great for families with smaller children. I was in attendance of a blessing for haumāna by a Kumu Hula. Lots of paddlers out early in the morning. Also some folks training for triathlon. Volleyball courts. Sand dunes. Nice local spot. Clean beach. read more

Always a "go to" spot for us! Beautiful beach! Clean! Soft sand and great location right across from the Harbor Village! There's a small parking lot with public restrooms and if that's full there's plenty of parking on the street or across the street as the Harbor Village lot is huge! I have to say...growing up in LA Ive always been a Malibu/Zuma Beach girl but the beaches in Ventura and Oxnard-Mandalay Shores and Hollywood Beach are much nicer-cleaner! We spent an hour sitting on this lovely beach. We were able to find parking close and walked out on the beach to set up our chairs. Nice soft sand, beautiful crashing waves. So relaxing. It wasn't busy and there were only a couple of people trying to surf in the cold water! read more

Just beautiful! I am such a sucker for secluded beaches like this. I was honestly shocked to find that nobody else was on this beach on a Friday evening right before sunset. It was such a treat to have this lil' beauty all to my damn self. Maybe it was just perfect timing, but I took total, utter, and complete advantage of it. Surfer's Knoll Beach is conveniently located right across the street from the Ventura Harbor Village. Street parking is aplenty here, and the beach is easily accessible. Despite it being in the busier part of Ventura, this beach is so peaceful. It has all of those lovable features that one often craves for in a beach; soft white sand, warm white waves, and picturesque coastal views. It's well maintained and super clean too. And since it's on the South Coast, the weather tends to be warmer and oh so enjoyable. I enjoyed watching the sun go down before heading to dinner nearby (which was literally just a walk down the street). You can imagine how stunning the sunsets are here. There's also a beautiful jetty area that will take you even deeper into those stunning crashing waves. You can see the Channel Islands from certain parts of this beach too. So much to love about being here! It almost seems like it's a hidden secret but it's very much UNhidden. Despite its' name, I didn't see any surfers manning the waves here. Could have just been the part of the beach that I was on, but that's totally okay with me. It stretches down pretty far, so there's lots of beach to go around here. I'd pick a chill day at this secluded beach over one at the busier beaches in Santa Barbara any day. It's a total dream come true here. read more

I didn't know there was a beach in Ventura. When I found out there was one, I just had to visit. Just as the name describes, there are surfers in the water, even though there are no lifeguards. There's also a jetty where there are people fishing beyond the "Danger" sign. Hey, why not live dangerously. What I was obsessing over were the large mussel shells, sea glass, and sand dollars washed up on shore. The mussel shells were larger than I've ever been served when I've ordered a Cioppino. The long stretch of beach is a perfect place to take a walk. Many people bring their dogs here. There's plenty of free street parking along the street. read more

This is such a pretty part of the beach in Ventura Harbor. If you come early enough in the morning you'll find people walking on the beach, and some people bring their dogs here as earlier is better if you're going to bring your dog to walk on this beach. It's very pretty with softly rolling sand dunes and lots of ice plants. Parking is all free here in Ventura Harbor with an ample sized parking lot as well as roadside parking. Ventura Harbor village shops are just a stone's throw away from the beach, so you can walk over there and have a meal or peruse shops. Don't sleep on this sleepy little beach...but also don't tell all your friends... because it's a well kept secret! read more

Surfers Knoll is one of those gyms of a beach that make up the Southern California landscape. This is a very long and wide beach. It is broken up into various sections where they allow people to walk their dogs, jog, walk in the waves, swim, and surf. Note, however, there are various sections so you need to keep your eyes open for the signs because in certain places you can't do certain things. This being said, that does not take away from this beach in any manner. It is truly a vast and beautiful waterfront. There is plenty of parking for Surfers Knoll. If you're lucky, you can find a space right alongside of the beach. There you will find various entrance pathways onto the sand and the water. If not, you can always park across the street in the shopping plaza as they have a very large parking lot. There's a jetty that extends into the water from this beach. This pretty much divides the area of surfing and other recreational activities. You'll see people fishing off of this jetty sometimes though there are signs that say this is prohibited. Overall, whether you want to dive into the ocean, jog, take a power walk, sunbath, or just leisurely walk along the waves, this is a great beach to go to. read more

I'm a sucker for a beach that's totally secluded. It was so nice to have this little gem all to myself. I don't know if it was just timing or what, but I just took full, full advantage of it. Surfer's knoll beach is situated in the bustling Ventura Harbor Village, with ample street parking and easy access to the beach. Despite its location in a busy area, the beach is characterized by its serenity and tranquility. It is renowned for its soft, white sand, inviting waves, and stunning coastal views. Additionally, the beach is well-maintained and exceptionally clean. Due to its location on the Southern Coast of California, the weather is often warmer and more pleasant. I had the pleasure of admiring the sunset before embarking on a short walk to a nearby restaurant for dinner (it was literally just a stroll down the street). It is easy to imagine the beauty of the sunset here. There is also a stunning jetty area which will take you further into the captivating crashing waves. Certain parts of this beach are also visible from the Channel Islands. There is so much to enjoy about being here. It may appear to be a hidden gem, but in reality it is very much not. This secluded beach is a dream come true for me, and I would prefer to spend a relaxing day here rather than one of the more crowded Santa Barbara beaches. read more

Nice beach, plenty of parking, walking distance to shops and restaurants. Can be windy.

This is a nice stretch of beach to enjoy and lounge. It's seems like it's kind of broken down or separated by sections. The beginning or the front where the street and restrooms are, there's sand dunes. It's nice to actually see as not a lot of beach's do have them. Further down there's mother's beach where it's more calm. I do notice more kids there's frolicking as there. Then there's of course this stretch of beach where there tends to be a big more waves for the surfer. In between the jetty, you can just sit and watch the surfers or body boarder enjoy and having fun. There's also the main part of the beach which is more wider and larger. And it's pet friendly. There you'll have everyone enjoy the sand and the water. Also, it's where the main restrooms are located. To the left of that, the beach does continue but it's where the wetlands are as well. Not many people seem to be laying out there. And dogs are not allowed passes it. It seemed to cater to more of people beach fishing. Pretty nice beach to enjoy. read more

So I took the top down on my Camaro and rode out here today. First we had lunch across the street at Andreas seafood. Came to watch the sunset and it was beautiful. Plenty of places to park. They do allow dogs here and next time I will bring mine. Lots of people come to watch the sunset and it's very romantic. I enjoyed it and can't wait to come again. read more

I like to watch the surfers here and/or sit on the beach and listen to music after my bike ride. Today there was a surf camp for kids. I didn't get to see the surf lessons although I hung out on the beach for about 30 minutes. Down the way I did see some surfers. The surf seemed good today. I saw a dead seal ...or I think it was a dead seal close to the jetty. Birds were picking at it. The water was cool and will be a great relief when the weather warms up. If you are not an experienced ocean swimmer, I lovingly & strongly recommend not swimming here and swimming at the next beach, Harbor Cove Beach, which is a 30 second walk. Don't forget your Boogie Boards and Sunscreen. read more

I love this beach because it's not very crowded and was clean. Minus the pieces of wood that's in the sand. It's kind of hidden if you do not know about it. There's street parking available and the beach stretches pretty far that you can social distance from each other. There is a parking lot available, but it's on the small side. I also like that the Harbor Village is just across the street. So if you get hungry or thirsty, you don't have to go very far. The Harbor Village has a pretty big parking area, but there is no beach parking. But that didn't stop people from doing that as I've seen a lot of different groups park and walk to the beach. read more

I don't know why it took me so long to discover this spot. It's near the harbor and one of the best beaches in CA. Clean, well appointed (bathrooms, volleyball courts, free parking, near to a little restaurant across the street where you can grab lunch), and miles of broad sand to walk on. It's also close to an amazing estuary where you can see super cool bird life up close. You can walk for miles without seeing anyone. Also, right by the parking lot there is the perfect spot for weddings, of which I now have seen many. Check it out. It's one of Ventura's best kept secrets! read more

This is a chill spot by the Ventura Harbor. Most people come here to chillax and look at the waves, some tan, others go into the water and enjoy the waves. Being right next to the Ventura Harbor, I tend to grab some grub near by and eat in the lot while enjoying the view and sound of the beach. Place is awesome. As far as the waves, its generally choppy and sometimes windy on this beach, but it has good sunny days as well. Its a nice running beach and cuddle beach for couples. There's a "kiddy beach" close to this spot that have kid friendly waves, if you're bringing little ones to the water. read more

If you like wild uncrowded beaches, this little parking lot with shower and bathrooms provides access to a long wild beach connecting with the beach that fronts McGrath State Park. At high tide, the beach walk is pretty steep with a big drop off from the high dunes. Anacapa Island and Santa Cruz Island are front and center on the horizon, and the waves really crash in on this section of coast. No lifeguards here, but I have seen a guy walking his goats. Join the sunset crowd as the sun slips behind the islands and then head for dinner at one of the many restaurants at the Ventura Harbor village across the road. read more

Definitely one of our favorite beaches! If it's a really nice weekend, you gotta get here early to beat the crowds and get a parking spot. The parking lot is fairly small, but there are plenty of nearby street parking... and they're both free.99! Only in Ventura County can you find beach parking for dirt cheap or for free. Don't worry about paying $15-$20 like in Malibu. The beach is vast and wide with plenty of spots to set up your canopy and chill. You might find dried seaweed washed ashore but no biggie. There's tons of family there hanging out and enjoying the surf and sun. If you get hungry, the Ventura Harbor Village is right across the street where you can grab a bite. read more

This is a good location to come to the beach and have a plethora of shops and restaurants nearby. Parking is readily available as well. There is also a marina that has kayaks and sailboats that can be hired as well. The beach itself is beautiful with scenic views of the barrier islands to the west and the hills to the south. read more

Yes the weather was perfect and not too windy, but it was quiet, clean, not crowded, the sand was so soft and silky, the waves pretty calm. I'm sure that this is a lovely beach, but do not, I REPEAT DO NOT come here for sunset. There were more mosquitos than Orcs at the Battle at Helms Deep. We were rapidly surrounded by swarms thick enough to look like smoke. I'm not even exaggerating. I had to spray windshield fluid to see out the car windshield just to drive away and escape the horde. We opened the door for maybe ten seconds before running back, and I still expect to find a small cloud in the car tomorrow morning. You will die of blood loss before you even reach the shore. We came here on a Monday and the teeny parking lot was nearly empty, but I could visual it on the weekends and it would be mobbed. I guess parking at Harbor Village and walking across the street would be the best bet. There were only a few peeps on the beach today. To the north, dogs are allowed as we watched two dobermans almost have a small poodle for lunch. To the south, no dogs allowed. Since we didn't have our dogs, we headed to the left, I parked myself on the dune and the rest ran to the water's edge to frolic and take photos. It's really a nice view either way and was a good place for some So Cal beach photos. There are plenty of warning signs about the rip-tides and if you can read the ocean, you can see where NOT to swim. I saw at least two large 100' sections that could drag even Popeye out to sea. Being that dogs are allowed, I'd be afraid to throw a ball out into the water in fear that they'd swim out into the wrong current. After 15 mins, the group all came back up to where I was enjoying the sun and showed me their feet. I asked them if the Exxon Valdez oil spill was taking it's toll on the So Cal beaches? I, too, ended up with a half-dollar size wad of black oil on my toe. Let's see ... Mayonnaise takes this stuff off....maybe we should return to the seafood place and try the tartar sauce? Instead we opted to wait for the goo-gone at home. Other than the oil part, the rest of the visit was very nice. Showers and bathrooms were clean. Only one homeless guy. Hang Ten! read more

My friends were a tad stressed out due to their personally life and I thought I would cheer them up by taking them to a nice dinner at the pier plus a stroll at the beach since it is across the street. I had such a great time at the beach gazing at the stars. I actually saw a shotting star...I made a huge wish..I hope it comes true! hehehe..Besides the wonderful star gazing..I also found a pet rock and made a turtle on the beach. I had a really great time chatting with my friends and listening to the ocean crash against the shoreline..this was one of the best days..I am going to remember it because I was able to relax from a hard days worth of work! an okay beach. no lifeguard on duty. not a swimming beach, too strong of currents. this beach is easily accessible through the Ventura Harbor. The only setback was the sweet smell of marine life death that was nauseating in most parts of the beach from two dead beached dolphins and a dead seal being munched on by buzzards. Yuck! The call was made before we got there, but no one showed up to clean up the mess. There are bathrooms and foot showers. read more

Not a good beach. Although beach is relatively clean, there is no lifeguard on duty and the rip currents can kill - seriously. Not enough signs posted to warn off tourists who let their kids go into the (much too cold and treacherous) water. Also, I don't know why they call it, "Surfer's Knoll" because the waves are not good and the aforementioned rips ruin everything. On top of all that, the parking is no good. read more
