My husband and I spend the whole morning learning to surf with Ramse and Adrian. Altought we had never practiced this sport before we were able to surf a good amount of waves. This was possible because our great instructors made a terrific job explaining us how to do it. This activity was not only about surfing, it was also about sharing the passion for surfing. Our instructors gave us many recommendations about the area, we had lunch together in an incredible place with one of the best fish burritos we have ever tried and the most important, they made us feel part of the island. What was the ULTIMATE highlight of my vacation in Puerto Rico? Surfing lessons with Ramse! Apparently I wasn't listening to the very thorough and dedicated lesson Ramse gave us on the beach before we went in the water. Especially the part when you fall off the board you should fall away from it, because I hit my chin and got the BEST "war" bruise! Ironically this was my second go at catching a wave and I actually got up. Anyways! We were lucky enough to have Ramse all to ourselves because we came to Rincon in the off season. We did a half day, which was a great deal and I highly recommend it if you need to learn, well, lots of stuff. There must be something magical about this guy, It's like he's the tourist whisperer or something! But really, I think Ramses is just super passionate about surfing and sharing his knowledge with the people fortunate enough to learn from him. He takes his business very seriously and you can tell that he loves it. He picked us up at our hotel, made sure we had everything we would need, got us up on our boards, gave us useful feedback taking great care to protect my ego, then he took us to a local joint for lunch afterwards. It was delicious. They are also one of few who are certified, licensed and endorsed. read more

I would highly recommend any first-time surfers out there to book your experience with Ramses! We drove 2.5 hours to catch some early waves at surfers beach and it was so worth it! Ramses knew exactly when and where the waves would be best for beginners. It was my first time surfing and Ramses was very patient and guided me through the whole process. I had injured my pinky toe the day before but I was still able to ride several waves on my knees! Other than being a great instructor, Ramses is a great person and his positivity and philosophy about life is very inspiring! He's very calm especially when you might be nervous about catching a wave. He will help guide you through and time the wave perfectly to ensure that you will be successful! After surfing for two hours between 7 am and 9 am we all had fresh coconut juice from a near by stand. It was such a great feeling knowing you had seen the sunrise, conquered the ocean, and still had your whole day ahead of you. If you're thinking about surfing lessons, don't hesitaste and just do it! My daughter (23) and I (50+) decided we wanted to learn to surf while in Rincon. Ramse was highly recommended to us. We had never surfed before and knew nothing about surfing. Ramse was very easy to contact and set up the half day lesson with the option to have additional lessons. Ramse begins his lesson on the beach and is very clear with his instructions on technique and safety. After completing our instruction on the beach we were ready to get in the water and practice what we learned. Ramse was always close by and very clear with his instructions in the water. He also has an assitant helping who was also excellent (sorry I don't remember his name). Both were always aware of where surfers were and made us feel very safe and confident. After few runs we were able to catch waves and get up on our surf boards. It was such an incredible feeling and if you are thinking of learning to surf do not hesitate to contact Ramse. I highly recommend him and will continue with more lessons next time we are in Rincon. Live the dream! read more

My other half and I decided on Ramses for our surf lessons based on the other trip advisor reviews and were not disappointed at all. Ramses went through surf safety and all of the basics on the shore before we hit the water. Then once we were in, he taught us how to choose a good wave and we both managed to get up standing. He was very attentive and always had an eye on us while we were in the water. Ramses was a great instructor, gave us helpful pointers in what to do next time and was an all round great person to have in the water with us. After our lesson he recommended a great lunch place in nearby Aguada where all the locals eat. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend Ramses for lessons and if we ever return to Puerto Rico we'll definitely visit for another lesson. Visited May 2014 read more

Ramses was our guide for the an entire week. He showed us all the breaks, gave us tips on each wave and watched our stuff while we were out on the waves. Since he's also a pro surfer, he knows all the locals so if you're with Ramses, you're not going to run into any trouble. He's also the only guide in Rincon that is licensed and insured. all of the other guys don't carry insurance and are legally not allowed on the beaches for instructions. This was a big deal. He also gave us great rec's for food, surf spots etc. Even helped us get a private chef to make food for the house. So helpful. great teacher, great guy. He was the highlight of our trip. First Time Surfing - What a great experience for my children ages 14,14 & 9. Ramse taught them all they needed to know and within 30 minutes they were perfecting their new found skills. The location was perfect for beginners and Ramse spent three full hours with them in the water. The kids did not want a break as they were enjoying every minute surfing. What a great teacher Ramse is! Afterwards he even offered to go to lunch together or show us the hot spots in the neighborhood. So kind! However the location at Playa Jobos was so beautiful we wanted to explore it more. I wish we could bring him to the Jersey shore with us. Thank you Ramse. read more

Fantastic experience! I drove an hour and a half for a personal lesson, and it was so worth it! I am a beginning learner with no prior surfing exposure. Ramses was knowledgable and patient, with tips not only about how to surf, but also proper surfing etiquette and what weather is suitable for surfing. He frequently provided tips in the water and was happy to accommodate me when I became tired. By the end of the lesson, I was able to confidently surf the smaller waves and the stronger, more central waves with more seasoned surfers. I highly recommend the experience, especially for other travelers like me who have never had a chance to learn. read more

We called sort of last minute and we were able to get a surfing lesson within two hours time which was awesome! We went to Maria's beach for our first lesson and the waves there were a lot more powerful than we had ever expected but Ramse was awesome and did his best to reassure us that he was in full control of this experience and would keep us safe. He taught us a lot of info. on the beach before taking us into the water and then continued to work on our skill before getting us up on a wave. Our kids (19 & 17) have never surfed before, and Ramse's group lesson was fantastic! He worked with them first on the beach and really stressed safety, so as parents we felt very comfortable that he would ensure their safety in the water. Ramse is very nice, fun, patient and extremely knowledgeable about surfing. Both kids were able to get up and ride a few waves. They can't wait to go again! At the end of the lesson, Ramse invited everyone to join him at a local coffee/smoothie shop which was a great ending to our time together. Ramse is the BEST. He's a local who knows everyone and has great tips for your stay in addition to expert teaching. He's one of the most respected pro surfers on the island but is sweet and patient enough to help improve your surfing. Even my jaded surfing teens felt he was cool enough to learn from. He has a very sweet genuine spirit and is fun to hang out with which helps when you're floating in the water for hours on end! When I told my friends I was up on the board and surfing on my first try, they could hardly believe me, but it's true! Ramse was very thorough, and made sure we understood how to be safe in the water before starting the lesson. He made the lesson fun and soon enough we were out on the water. My lesson with Ramses was the highlight of my 4 week trip to Puerto Rico. I took surfing lessons with different instructors around the island (Viejo San Juan, Isla Verde, Jobos and Rincon). All the instructors were good, but Ramses was the best. Not only did he get me onto the biggest waves I have ever ridden, I was actually getting up and riding more than half the waves I went for. Really awesome with kids! We spent 2 mornings with Ramse, Adrian, & Pito and they were so great with our kids (ages 7,7,9,11,12). It was great to have 3 instructors for the 9 of us. We all caught lots of waves and felt very safe. Can't say enough great things about surfing with Ramse & his crew. It also felt really good to support a local business / local folks. Ramses is a really great surfer but more importantly a really great teacher. My mom is a teacher so I am a good judge of this. I had only stood up on a board once before visiting Rincon last week. I stood up the second try with Ramses and caught a bunch of nice ones with his guidance. He also took me to some local food spots and introduced me to his friends. I had a private one-on-one lesson with Ramse today. It was my first time surfing since last year (which I had two private lessons with a different company). Ramse is by far the best instructor on the island!!! He was patient with me, and helped me every step of the way. I felt safe and enjoyed riding some nice waves. They gave detailed attention to safety; they completely took care of the equipment; and they gave us a full 2 hours in the water, in addition to the instruction that we were given on the beach before getting into the water. My lesson with Ramses was great. I had very little prior surfing experience (one brief lesson a couple years earlier), and he was very encouraging and patient. He knows the area inside and out, and explained to us before we went out how to best navigate the currents at this particular spot (in Isabela, a little ways up the coast from Rincón).
