The owner, Mike, would not fix…read morethe errors unless we paid him more money than originally quoted, and rather than help his customer, he is blaming us for his errors. First, he was very difficult to reach throughout the process, and showed up very late to every appointment. Then, he printed our sign WITHOUT final approval on the design from us, and installed it. The lettering of our firm runs into the edge of the sign, and the alignment of our words to our logo are spaced strangely. Worse, the sign is totally illegible at night when lit, because the ink used is too light in color. When we asked him about it, he said this is a known issue with printed signs....but he never forewarned us in advance when first reviewing our design colors. For someone who has been in business a long time, he gave us no advice, no consultation and when we told him how unhappy we are he said he was keeping our deposit and won't fix the problem without us paying more than the original quote. He also charges $400 to fill out a permit form. Anyone can go online and fill out the form with some basic information from him for free- instead he charges an absolutely ridiculous fee. Our clients tell us our sign is bad, and now we are out our deposit and need to find someone new to start over with for a new sign. Stay away from SLS.

Mike gave me such a fair price that I didn't need to look any further. He does wholesale sign installations for other companies. The new signs he produced are amazing. The LED system makes a huge difference- best move! Sign is lite with 21,000 lumens and 10x brighter and more visible at night! We couldn't be happier. I did some research on the company and saw that they often engage in door to door selling, which is fine but I am not interested in doing that so I called the office to ask so that I could save both the company and myself some time if that's what they expected me to do. I will note there was no mention of door to door sales on the job description. I called and asked if any part of the training process or the job itself required door to door sales and the woman on the phone assured me that they did not engage in cold calling or door to door sales, now feeling much better about the situation I decided to go. Now to be fair they were very clear about their expectations in the actual interview, which to my dismay included door to door sales. While I respect the clarity in the interview I didn't appreciate being mislead into showing up. I asked very clearly on the phone and they did not answer honestly, perhaps they thought they could convince me. I anticipate that their response will be that they do not employ the door to door sales method because they instead go to clients off a preferred client list. However, this is clearly semantic difference and they most likely knew what I meant on the phone. I understand that door to door sales doesn't sound attractive on a job description but I believe it's better to be as honest and as up front as possible. The job search process can be very time consuming so I really don't think it's fair to be unclear with potential candidates.
