Decadent chicken teriyaki paired with shrimp, steak, and fresh veggies... absolutely amazing. And of course, the chef had us all laughing--such great entertainment! Yummy 3 flavor sherbet cup dessert. Balloons, chef hats to color, and take home trays for the left overs in a brown bag yore is a start to finish well designed plan that moves tables quickly. Do be prepared for that! Full hearts, full bellies, and sweet family memories made! Always a good time and truly beautiful decor tops the experience off.

Then on to the issues here are the following: The hostess with the most-ess and the failed system of reservations and lack there of, no matter how far out you plan in accordance becomes a major debacle when arriving and leaves a poor taste in your mouth. Not to mention the huge snarky attitudes and negative undertones received from the hostess's staff. Literally, I witnessed the young black female this past Saturday evening, Kamaya, I believe is her name display a fake disposition, associated with a fake smile and then spoke negatively of patrons behind their backs, under her breath. I get it, they can't control diners who linger around after being serve and or can't control or predict, when they decide to leave so others are able to be seated and served in a timely fashion. But, I would suggest, to always remain very transparent and do not force bogus rules of rushing a party to arrive early and then convey a message that states your table will be held for 10 minutes and then released/ cancelled. When a party, such as ourselves, arrive before time and then are told that your party will not be seated until all parties are INSIDE the building, even though they are trying to find a park in this small parking lot. Finally, all parties of your group are present and accounted for, standing in your face still within the time frame mentioned. Then to be told, you now have a few tables ahead of you and the wait is approximately 20 minutes. Really? But in actuality you and your guests now wait 40 to 45 minutes after your scheduled reservation. All the while witnessing them seat random small parties that walk in after your large group with an actual reservation. I know this because I listened as I stood idly by the hostess desk. One or the management of this establishment need to focus on revamping this failed system and have some of your hostess to work on their attitudes. Last I checked, it is patrons such as myself that keeps them employed and your business successful and thriving. Also, a word to all other patrons, if you desire a table greater than a party of 12, prepare to pay a deposit of $10 pp but you still will probably have to wait for your reserved tables. The only thing that made me come back to this place was a special request from my daughter for her birthday and our amazing Chef Marcelino, and Gee, our server was pretty cool as well. Needless to say, with all of the hoops, unnecessary rules and lack of communication, unwarranted attitudes, rehearsed apologies and lack of organizational skills, it will be a while before we return to this establishment, if at all! There are too many restaurants here in the Low Country who strive for professionalism and actually value their patrons without the blatant disrespect from their hostess desk. I would give, 5 stars for Marcelino and Gee but 1 star for the hostess desk! Do better!

It's miles of smiles at Myles & Jun Yakitori in Summerville, SC!…read moreThis place has been on our radar for a while but we don't get out to Summerville that often, but this time we took the bull by the horns and went with the sole purpose of eating at Myles & Jun and we are so glad we did! I recommend making a reservation. We did not but Ms. Myles graciously accommodated our table for 2. A few hours prior we checked and reservations were wide open, but by the time we got there, they were pretty booked. The staff is wonderful and the food is made with care. Simply delicious! We began with a cup of their clear broth that was light and flavorful and cleansed our palettes for the grilled meats to come. At the suggestion of Ms. Myles, we had the Crispy Pork for an appetizer. Nice and crisp pieces of pork whose fat was properly rendered back into the meat. A lot of places miss this important step. It was served with a luscious white sauce and lightly vinegared hot sauce. Then we went right into their specialty- Yakitori We had one of each of the following: Momo- chicken Thigh Chicken Tenderloin with Yuzu Honey Glaze Australian Wagyu Beef- they offer American Wagyu, and A5 Japanese Kobe as well Bacon Wrapped Crab- high quality Crab stick wrapped in bacon..this was a standout for me. So rich and full of Umami Ribeye We finished the meal off with a plate of Beef Yaki-Udon. The depth of flavor was incredible and again the Umami took center stage. Interesting fact: They have been at this location for 31 years opening first as an Italian restaurant! Myles has been in Charleston for 40 years and is an icon in the Food and Bev industry. She was most recently recognized by Congress for her impact on the Charleston food scene. We were greeted with a smile and left with a hug. Tuna was super fresh, sauce was light and didn't overpower it, and the salmon balls had a great crunch with a ton of flavor. You can tell they care about what they're putting out. Good spot to split a few things and try a mix. Vibe is low key but still feels like a legit Japanese spot, not trying too hard. Service was great too, really attentive the whole time. Definitely coming back.

Never asked again. Then I asked for a glass of water and she didn't say a word. Just turned around and got it. Brought it back and just sat it down and walked away. We ordered two sushi rolls and she didn't bring utensils to eat it with. I had to find them for us. Then my wife wanted a little bowl for soy sauce. I had to go find it because our server was no where to be found. She had an attitude about anything we asked for. I'm not joking when I say it was the worst service I've ever had. Needless to say the tip wasn't what it should have been or could have been. Now the food? Awesome! I had the hot sand sour soup (one of the best I've ever had), we had two different sushi rolls. One was the Akomeyea roll and the other was some tuna roll I didn't eat. The chicken low mien was very good and plenty of it. I gave it 3 stars because the food was very good. If we ever decide to get dinner here again it would definitely be to go. No way would I eat in the restaurant again with service like that and as empty as the place was. I get why it was like that if all the service is like that.

Brought a group of 8 people here including one 7-year-old who had never been to hibachi before. No tricks, no volcano, flips, flames, or anything else that is the hallmark of this type of establishment. When asked, the cook said "no, come back tomorrow". That was the beginning and I wish I left then... Steak and shrimp were cooked in raw chicken liquids. Knife skills were so poor that some pieces were raw and some pieces were over cooked. Customer service was awful. It took nearly 20 minutes to get the first round of drinks - 6 sodas or waters and 2 beers for our table. The beers - Sapporos - were expired by 4 months. Salads were half filled with water. My salad was the best of the worst with half a cherry tomato and two shaved cucumber pieces on a bed of waterlogged iceberg smothered in crystallized frozen ginger dressing. Four of us ordered filet - it was definitely not filet. As someone accustomed to choosing cuts from the butcher, this was not filet. Steak was horrifically undercooked. Raw on the interior and even pink on the outside. Sinew and veins visible when cutting into the pieces. The restaurant was filthy. Caked grime around the switches around the hoods. Under the counter at the seating station was filthy. Wood panels throughout the restaurant streaked with grease and filth. My hotel was 3.2 miles from the restaurant. I wasn't even able to make it to my room on the third floor and had to use the lobby bathroom. If you value your lower intestine and your experience as a paying diner, skip this place.
