This place has been on our radar for a while but we don't get out to Summerville that often, but this time we took the bull by the horns and went with the sole purpose of eating at Myles & Jun and we are so glad we did! I recommend making a reservation. We did not but Ms. Myles graciously accommodated our table for 2. A few hours prior we checked and reservations were wide open, but by the time we got there, they were pretty booked. The staff is wonderful and the food is made with care. Simply delicious! We began with a cup of their clear broth that was light and flavorful and cleansed our palettes for the grilled meats to come. At the suggestion of Ms. Myles, we had the Crispy Pork for an appetizer. Nice and crisp pieces of pork whose fat was properly rendered back into the meat. A lot of places miss this important step. It was served with a luscious white sauce and lightly vinegared hot sauce. Then we went right into their specialty- Yakitori We had one of each of the following: Momo- chicken Thigh Chicken Tenderloin with Yuzu Honey Glaze Australian Wagyu Beef- they offer American Wagyu, and A5 Japanese Kobe as well Bacon Wrapped Crab- high quality Crab stick wrapped in bacon..this was a standout for me. Finally tried Yakitori and really glad we did. Everything was just really solid. Tuna was super fresh, sauce was light and didn't overpower it, and the salmon balls had a great crunch with a ton of flavor. You can tell they care about what they're putting out. We definitely way too long to come back after 2 years but so glad we finally made it again. Shortly after being sat, the owner came in and personally thanked each of us for coming in and gave a great speech about how we've contributed to their success which I thought was super cool. We found out they bought out a new building and are planning on expanding soon which is so exciting! In case you didn't know she has a beautiful voice and we were able to hear it that night. We got the delicious garlic and tomato rice accompanied by delicious skewers of meat and my all time favorite is the crispy pork belly app. It was the perfect amount of food and good service. I've been here twice already and every time it was delicious! The inside is nice. It's a smaller restaurant I would advising making a reservation though you may not always need one. My only concern is there isn't usually a lot of wait staff. So you are kind of forgotten about. They have a different sake sangria every night! It's very flavorful and lots of fruit. I definitely recommend getting a half pitcher if you're there with a friend. We had the spicy garlic edamame. This was good right about of spicy to it. 8/10 We also tried the Tuna Tataki this was not bad. I felt like it could have more flavor. 7/10 I had the Japanese Curry is so good! The flavor is great! I recommend trying the sun dried tomato garlic butter rice with it! So good. It's been 8 full years since my friend and I visited this restaurant because I moved from the area. The owner recognized us this weekend. How? That's actually amazing. This restaurant still has the same charm as it did back then. We got last minute reservations and they were able to fit us in at the bar. We were given samples of the house sake sangria and it was just as good as I remembered. We ordered that and a few appetizers. The filet mignon yakitori is mouth watering. Stopped by one of our favorites in Summerville! We didn't have a reservation but got seated at the bar. As usual the restaurant was busy but glad we got to eat. As usual the Owner greeted us and remembered us from eating there a few times. Such a great greeting from the stress of the day. We got 2 samples of delicious Sake! I had the Udon Curry with Beef. We didn't have a reservation but the staff was super accommodating. They sat us quickly and Jay (Jae?) our waitress was phenomenal! She explained the menu and made great suggestions. Myles and Jun only does reservation by Yelp, but we stopped by on a Thursday evening and got a reservation for two hours later at 7:30. When we arrived, we were greeted warmly and treated to sangria samples while we looked at the menu. It's a cute place with nice decorations and a seating area while you wait. The service is great here and everyone makes you feel welcome, though I got the sense they were a little understaffed. All of the recommendations from our "research" were ordered: A5 wagyu skewer, crispy pork belly, honey toast, yellowtail collar. Everything was delicious, hot, and fresh! Out of everything, the yellowtail collar entree with the sun dried tomato garlic butter rice stood out to me. I had never had yellowtail collar, but don't skip it if you're not afraid to pick up a piece of fish and nibble on the crispy bits. I think it's whole fried and the sauce is incredible. The rice was something special too. We also got the chicken thigh and lamb yakitori - both were tasty with the lamb packing a spicy punch. We asked our server for recommendations and ordered several of the dishes that were recommended. I tried the stir fried noodles with peanut sauce. The chicken was so tough I could not eat it and the sauce was lukewarm. Others in my party ordered the hibachi chicken. No one commented on it but I noticed most people ate a small amount and just kind of picked at it and did not finish their meals. With reservations, my guests and I still waited about 10-15 minutes, but that's also stated in the resy. We were seated and offered a sample of their highly recommended Sake Sangria and it was delicious. Of course I now needed it with my meal. Their menu selection is huge and made it hard to choose. How could anybody give this place anything less than 5 stars. Quick and friendly service, amazing food, chill vibes all around and an extremely attentive and entertaining owner. There were a few apps I would have loved to have tried too. I saw a placard on the wall saying that they were known for their noodles, so I couldn't resist. I got the Yaki-Udon with beef. The boss lady gave me a little sample of sake sangria that was pretty tasty, but not what I was looking for, I just got a beer. They gave me a little bit of soup to wet my appetite while I waited. The servers were nice but seemed really young. My food came out relatively promptly and it looked amazing. The noodles were absolutely perfect. The beef was nice and tender. All the veggies were cooked to perfection. The only thing that made this a 9.9 out of 10 instead of perfect was it was a hair to salty for my personal taste. I like salty, I like depth and umami, but this was just a little more than I needed. No complaints, just a little constructive criticism. I'll be back! My coworkers and I decided that we wanted to dine here after work on a Friday. Based on previous reviews that mentioned the size and popularity of the restaurant, I called ahead to make reservations. The hostess and owner were very accommodating in finding the best seating arrangement for our large party. The owner even provided me her personal cell phone number in the event that I needed to add additional guests. The great service didn't stop there! Upon arriving at the restaurant we were seated at a long dinner table and were provided samples of their sake sangria. The sake sangria is made in house and the flavor varieties rotate, so you can always try something new! Our server, Emma, was very attentive and ensured that everyone understood the menu. For my meal, I enjoyed two yakitori (meat sticks). The ribeye and chicken tenderloin yakitori were delicious and were devoured pretty quick. I also ordered a side of seaweed salad which complimented the yakitori nicely. My group was also celebrating a birthday and the restaurant provided a complementary birthday dessert and the owner came out and sang happy birthday! Excellent food with great and welcoming service. My wife said it was the best hibachi she ever had. I got the chicken hibachi and she got the filet hibachi. We also had the gyoza. The sauce for the hibachi was excellent, and they make a homemade style of yum yum sauce which was fantastic. There are a lot of options on the menu that we want to try next time, like the ramen and the other yakitori options. Emma was our server and she was extremely patient and kind in taking care of everything we asked for. She's the kind of waitress you want to get paired with when you go to a restaurant, so we were lucky to have her wait on us. The owner was also very kind in checking on us, and offering us saki. Walking with 2 canes surprise hostess takes us to rear area of restaurant passing 6 tables for 2. Not end of world. Table nest to us very close un-noticed I moved it a bit away. LOL nest two that came in were seated right next to us passing 6 empty 2's and 2 other 2's in rear. The 2 gents noticed and they moved the same table over a bit more.. Took good time to bring appy's again first in. We ordered 3 appy share extra 2 entree's sure some would end up home. ALL 5 plates showed up on table for 2 within few min. of each other. I asked server why and response " was to blame the kitchen" polite response "but your the server, you control the pace" Majority of food ended cold to betaken home next day. Server nervous and again very nice polite and yes kitchen should have paced better looking at order. Still tipped 25% not to have her feel all the blame. We made a 9pm reservation for Valentine's Day, and even though we arrived about half an hour early, we were sat almost immediately. Our server, Jinalyn, was very friendly, knowledgeable, and personable. She explained the menu well, told us about the specials, and made suggestions. If you're ever in Charleston area and want to get away from Downtown  Charleston ... head out to Summerville a cute suburb outside of Charleston and visit Myles & Jun Yakitori it's a very hidden gem and one you do not want to miss .. Myles and Jun Yakitori reminds me of a typical hole in the wall hidden gem you would find in a major hustle and bustle city like NYC, Chicago, LA, and DC where the exterior isnt much but as soon as you open the doors it's a whole vibe on it's own.. especially if you're graced by the singing talents of Momma Myles ! Her vibe and attitude is what sets this place apart on a whole other level . Like her.. the staff are also pleasant and nice which is hard to find now a days and I guess that's one of the thing that makes this place awesome... Ok now onto the food ! The menu is filled with small bites and followes with larger main dishes... main attraction here of course is the yakitori which is part of the name so of course that's what was ordered along with others.. First we ordered the Chicken Kara age which is friend pieces of chicken served lettuce wrap style with a peanut sauce and an orange sweet chili sauce for dipping .. on it's own the fried chicken pieces are good and moist but needed more seasoning on it ... but once dipped in one of the sauces it takes a notch up and on another level .. so dont forget to dip.. Next up was the Crispy Pork belly which was amazing, tender, and very flavorful served with a chef's sauce which is similar to a sauce you would eat with crispy Filipino lechon... Both of these dishes were also awesome along with the spicy chili soy vinegar sauce they place on the table for your yakitori. So if you need a lil heat dip it in there.. Next was the Edamame with spicy garlic sesame sauce with pickled ginger.... it was good but needed something extra to it.. so asked for salt and sprinkled a lil bit on it and boom it was even better ! So Myles and Jun .. add a lil salt to it to elevate it a notch.. Next was the Salmon Rice Balls served with the orange sweet chili sauce .. it was 2 balls of flavor and texture and very delicious  ... think of an Italian arancini but instead this had bits of salmon inside . Next up were the yakitori... we ordered the filet mignon and chicken tender and thigh .. the yakitoris were good and had the smoky char flavor from the grill but needs a lil more kick to it .. the chicken had a honey glaze on it but due to the grilling it lost the honey flavor on it... but the yakitori that was ordered were tender just needs some extra seasoning or spices to it. Also Mussels with a spicy soy vinaigrette sauce was ordered and devoured so I cant give much details on it since it was gone as soon as hit the table so that means it was amazing lol Next up were some shareable dishes .. We ordered the Kalbi and the fried tofu entrees for the table .. The Kalbi was well marinated short ribs served with a side of sun dried tomato garlic butter fried rice and grilled veggie .. the Kalbi was on point ... and the fried rice was good.. took some of the house spicy chili sauce and added drizzled some of it on the rice to spicy it up a lil. The fried tofu was ok ... it was also served with the sun tried tomato garlic butter fried rice and grilled veggies... but the tofu was the silken soft tofu so once fried it almost has a soft cream cheese texture .. so Momma Myles and Jun maybe experiment with a firm tofu and see if it elevates the dish even more .. The final dish was a gift from Momma Myles and Jun... it was their honey toast with nutella and red bean ice cream ... this dish was amazing and a great way to finish off the night... if you never had honey toast before definitely do it ! Think of a thick slice of milk bread toasted or pan fried like french toast minus the french toast dip... topped with ice cream.. honey.. and nutella drizzle .. back home in the DC area this dish was everywhere and a stable for dessert at an asian dessert place .. the toast itself is amazing and top it the honey, nutella, and red bean ice cream was freaking amazing ! So with all that being said ... if you're in the area definitely stop by Myles and Jun .. and let your taste buds have an adventure.. I can see why this place has 5 stars! I was in the area visiting my father and I was lured in by Yelp. Looks are definitely deceiving, as from the parking lot the storefront looks kind of worn. Once inside, it was very lively with customers and I could see waiters carrying plates of delicious food! They started us off with a complementary shot of sake, which was nice. For my meal I got lamb skewers, which was so tender and flavorful. The gyoza was crispy, and my steak and shrimp hibachi was juicy and nicely done.
