I made a reservation the day before we went to celebrate a birthday and was told that they would bring a birthday cheesecake after we ate. I said, yes, please do that. Did they? Nope! Waiter was slow to take our orders, then rushed us through the meal. Brought main courses before appetizers. Asked us to pay our bill before we even finished eating. The cheese wonton was crisper and hard on the edges, could skip. The shrimp tempura were basic, nothing special. I don't eat seafood but the sushi options had vegetarian sushi. I will also mention that they have a whole huge variety on the menu that isn't just sushi, there's something for everyone. The service was great as well. Quick and efficient. There weren't many people in the restaurant so we were able to get what we needed in a timely manner. Based on the good reviews on Yelp, I decided to give this place a try when I was in New Minas. The hostess greeted me at the door, and patiently answered all my questions. I was there for lunch, and they have 3 lunch specials, 2 rolls for $8, 3 rolls for $11, and AYCE for $15. A pretty Korean girl took my order, she was pretty as a rose, and nice as can be. I ordered 3 maki, and the rice was warm. Mmm, I love warm rice in my sushi. The 3 maki were great. Then I decided to go for it, and become AYCE. I enjoyed the next 3 rolls and sushi pizza just as much. The kamikaze was one of my favourite rolls. For dessert, I had a half order of mango ice cream with a fried banana dipped in honey and sesame. The place was busy enough at lunch hour, but I never felt rushed. The staff was great. The restaurant is well kept, and I really like the sink in the ladies room. I look forward to returning here for more sushi, and to see the Korean rose again. read more

It's sushi-fang-tastic. Highlight of my time in New Minas - MORE LIKE NEW PLUS!!!! Best sushi/Thai in town - FOR SURE. Impressed to see warning on menu about dangers of eating raw fish. Really appreciated how thoughtful it was to warn customers. Most places don't think to really care good for health concerns like poisoning from restaurant's food. I didn't get too sick, so all is well that ends well, right? :) Great decor. I'm often tempted to steal furnishing, but had no such urges and conflicting emotions at Sushi Fang on account of the decor being literally glued down (see pictures). Thank you for making this a peaceful and discernibly less criminal dining experience, Sushi Fang. Staff was attentive and really attractive. 5 stars... in bed. Women's bathroom was an enchanting lilac hue. Mens bathroom was a wading pool with zen-like trickle-sound of leaking urinal. "Enlightening" experience, navigable "waters". Parking lot a romantic setting. Well lit. Felt safe. Would definitely do business in the parking lot again. 5 stars. Ordered VEGi Dragon Roll, but it didn't contain broccoli or dragons as promised. Waiter was nice about it tho and brought one made properly when requested. FYI, BYOB definitely not allowed I found out ASAP. Loved the local flair with the famous New Minas roll and Acadia roll. I have been here six times now since it has opened. The first time I went, it was okay, but each time I've been there since, it's been amazing! I really recommend the sushi bento box and the rainbow roll. Those two are my personal favorites! They are fairly quick here and the prices are very fair! read more

Sushi fang is OK in general. It definitely the go-to place for sushi in the valley but only because it doesn't have much competition. The staff is just awful. The first time I went I waited over 30 minutes before someone even came to take my order. If I didn't love sushi so much or had a different place to go I would have left before even getting my food every time I've been. Ordering off the menu is alot better than the all you can eat. Been here a handful of times. The atmosphere and setting is nice. The sushi tastes surprisingly good for an AYCE place, it's actually a lot better than a good portion of the sushi places in Halifax. That being said, I've only been there during the summer, and Wolfville/New Minas is dead during the summer-- so the place was never busy and the service was alright as a result of it, but still not what I'd consider good, so I can only assume that the service is pretty shit during peak times in the school year. I actually miss living in Wolfville solely because it's nice having close access to an AYCE-sushi restaurant that isn't complete ass. Overall, you have an AYCE sushi restaurant with good prices, decent sushi, and meh service. Such places are rare. Next time I'm in Wolfville, I'll probably stop here. -1 service/speed read more

Love this place even more than the place in Greenwood. Please refer to that review for the huge review. I'll keep this one short. Great food, fast service, good prices. great staff, awesome selection. There's something for everyone here. The servers are knowledgeable and friendly. The sushi chef is very fast and very efficient. I went here with a party of 20 people and we were all served within 10 minutes of ordering. The prices are awesome as well. Anyone can afford to eat here. 14.99 covered me for all I could eat at lunch and it was terrific :D. The reason I like this place more than the greenwood location is because it's bigger, much better decorated and has more menu options. I highly recommend both locations :D read more

Let me begin with saying the food here is just not up to par and the customer service from the restaurant manager was horrible. It was bad enough for me to tell anyone considering eating here to stay away from this restaurant. Do not buy from the menu for take-out! We ordered one take-out order of rock shrimp, an item available on the all you can eat menu as well. When we arrived for pick-up we asked if we could merge the order of rock shrimp into an all you can eat bill and sit down. The man at the front was really helpful, but the woman in charge of the restaurant refused the merging of our rock shrimp saying that "the all-you-can-eat price covers all of the items" and that was literally the only explanation she could give!! We paid 11.50 for one order of rock shrimp, and wanted to merge that price into a 20.99 fee for each of us and just eat the shrimp as part of the inclusive deal. With a terrible explanation, cheap food, poor customer service (except for the gentleman working the front cash), and an overall sense of coldness from the manager, I urge anyone considering this place to save yourself the cluttered wait staff, disorganized atmosphere, and inattentive management.. We went there on the advice from one of our dear friends who told us that this was an outstanding place. The service was very good indeed. We found however that this was not the authentic Thai cuisine we were used to (which was VERY flavourful and very hot). The Mango chicken was heavily breaded, almost like KFC. The more bread, the less real meat, and it was overly sweetened, instead of using more of the mango's own sweetness. The Singapore style fired vermicelli was supposed to be spicy, but was quite bland instead. The veggies in it were not completely cooked and were hard to chew. The pieces of cabbage in there were tough and not finely shredded. They did not use Asian veggies, but ordinary north American carrots and broccoli. Cilantro, the signature of Thai cuisine, was replaced by curly parsley: yikes! We will not return there until they make it truly authentic Asian. read more

The sushi here was middle of the road. Some of the rolls, hand rolls and soups I ordered weren't classically done. (i.e. a California roll with salmon and not crab) Not a huge deal to most but I don't eat salmon and thus why I ordered the California roll. The service was mediocre and the booth seating was uncomfortable. As this was my first time here, I would give them a second chance but definitely not a third. read more

Just finished dining at Sushi Fang tonight. First time there, and wanted to try it out as I had heard some positive comments about it. First point - Tough place to get reasonable service. The Bento Meal was served to my wife after 30 minutes. Kind of slow considering the small crowd. The Pad Thai was greasy and not that pleasant to eat. I ordered the sushi buffet. My meal arrived 15 minutes before my wife's. I specifically asked if they served pollock, which they said no to. Sure enough the crab was actually fake crab. I would have ordered some other items to try but our wait staff abandoned us. Total bill was $36.73. Not unreasonable if the food was fit to eat. Definitely no tip - before the haters get going understand I always tip and cannot remember the last time I did not tip. Will never go back. read more

Went on a Friday night. Place was absolutely slammed with a huge lineup for tables. Besides the obvious wait, the structure for getting seated is a bit of a claustrophobic mess. People paying VS people trying to squeeze in from the cold try to form 2 seperate lines inside the doorway but sometimes it just gets downright confusing who came first. The food was fine. It's diff here in that you write down what you would like, and the food comes in some non predicted order about 10-15 minutes after you place it. So your eating and have more food delivered. Everything we got was good, as expected, and probably way to much food (went a little trigger happy). I think it's probably better depending on the group size if you go in sporadic orders oppose to one huge one. Just to avoid getting stuck with to much food or repeating something you weren't impressed with. Service was good. Had multiple servers make sure food was ok, water or drinks full, and any additional orders taken. The crowd was a large amount of uppity university crowd, couples on dates, and friends out for a few hours of laughs. People oddly generally spend a lot of time in the place, as in we were there for 2 hours and people were still there who were eating before we came. Id give it a try. The bigger the group the better as you can share and try some things. First date? Maybe a bit risky. I had been when it first opened and my impression then is much less of what it is now. read more

This was my first time at sushi fang and I was very excited to go to finally get there, but the service was very dissapointing! The waitress came over once to say hi and ask if i wanted a drink (which I asked for a water). The waitress came back over 15/20 min later to get our order sheet (without my water). The food took a relative amount of time and when it did come we had to again ask for my water. Once finished the meal which something we had ordered we didnt receive, we waited for another 10/15 min for someone to come take our dishes away and bring us something for dessert. The person one did came over wasn't even our waitress. The waitress also didn't come by even once to check on us or refill water. The food was good and the restuarant was nice but the waitress left a bad taste in my mouth from the bad service I received. read more

I've eaten here twice, never again. Both times the food was great, but the service was abysmal. First visit, half of my orders were wrong, the other half didn't come. I was told it was last call for orders the second time the server came by, for all you can eat. Second visit, again, all you can eat, server didn't take a first order, different server came for first order, then never again! We ate our appetizers, then sat there waiting, with no staff to be seen. I finally went to the guy making sushi, and he said, well, we could squeeze you in for last call (last call is at 9, restaurant closes at 10). His co-worker goes and gets our server from out back, and I tell him I just want to settle up for what we'd eaten so far (not everything we ordered even made it to the table). He was apologetic, said that a manager 'took off' and left her tables with him. I was brought a bill for everything we ate, at full price. Maybe I'll try them again, but get take out, since the service just doesn't work. I recommend the Crispy California Roll, if you can get them to bring you one. I'd like to see the 2 positive review for this restaurant go again, and see how the service has changed. read more

What a nightmare, second time there. Never again. Horrible service and a waiter who gave us attitude and told us the reason he didn't come back to our table for twenty minutes to take our order was because there was a high pitched noise coming from our table. Asked him for a fork and that took another ten minutes. Later another waiter told us the noise was from the dishwasher behind the wall where we were sitting. Food was good, but the staff are children who don't know the first thing about customer service. Never have this problem any where else we eat. I'm an addict with a bad habit, I gotta kick this place. Why? Their fish is about as fresh as something you'd find in a dumpster behind KOD. If this is authentic asian cuisine, then my name is General Tso. The service, or lackthere of, is just as bad. Where else can you find a restaurant that doesn't understand the concept of the waiter. On our most recent trip, we had the pleasure of dealing with no less than 5 different employees. A problem with your order? Not a problem in most other establishments, but here you are forced to flag down whoever you can find. Is he a busboy, the maitre'd, a chef, or the manager? No-one knows, and I'm pretty confident they don't either! But don't let my bad experience dissuade you: if you find yourself in the mood for a tuna roll with authentic canned meat, complimented with beautiful brown avocado and dry lifeless rice, swing on over to Sushi Fang. I'll end my review with a friendly complaint to the good folks at Yelp: I was not given an option for Zero stars, or better yet, a negative star rating. It would have come in handy here. read more

We went to Sushi Fang tonight as there is only 1 other Asian cuisine within a reasonable driving distance and we read reviews thinking this was the right choice. We were greeted at the door by about 20 other confused looking customers bunched into the tightest space ever; some paying their bills some waiting on take away, and the others waiting for a table. After squeezing in we waited for a bit (10 minutes) and an employee came and asked who was waiting for a table, took our names and said "we don't know a wait time" and just walked away... okay well they are busy we will wait it out for a table. After about 40 minutes of waiting we are finally seated. This is one of my personal pet peeves the table was soaking wet from just being wiped down and smelled of cleaning product very strongly- mmm appetizing, right? This is annoying but not a deal breaker. Well, our waiter lays the menus down on the table and walks away... 20 minutes pass and the restaurant is now quiet and many tables leaving/had left already, we have yet to be acknowledge again and the waiter is just bussing tables all around us. I at this point am ready to leave but my partner convinces me to wait longer. We waited another 15 minutes and not even a glance from waiter nor waitresses (there were 5 employees waiting and 2 sushi chefs and at least 1 more employee in the back that we knew of). Although, they managed to take orders from 3 other tables that seated after we did (about 10-15 minutes after we did). I am not one to cause a fuss and yell across a restaurant for a waiter/waitress to come take our order (although I did see another table doing this while we waited to be seated).. I feel it was obvious enough that we had set out menus down and was looking straight at them. Finally (an hour and 25 minutes after arriving) I couldn't sit and wait any more my patience completely ran out and we walked out. We never got to try the food, or even the water/soda/cocktails. What a waste of time! Tip for the restaurant owner/manager, just offering a beverage to customers can change everything. If we were at least given something to sip on as we waited we may have lasted another 20 minutes. Also, train your employees to staggering seating vs. bussing vs. taking orders! I feel sorry for the kitchen staff as they get all the orders at one time due to the un-organized nature of this restaurant. read more
