There really isn't much going on in the Western Sydney Japanese scene. Found this place online…read moreafter doing a search for ramen places in Parramatta. I was a bit nervous on the drive there and went in with low expectations. The restaurant is very small and had elements of a typical Japanese restaurant set up. I ordered the katsu chicken ramen an shared the magma roll. The katsu chicken wasn't your normal golden brown coloured exterior but nevertheless tasted really good. I thoroughly enjoyed the ramen after I heaped on some chilli flakes. This isn't readily available on the table so don't forget to ask if you're a fan. The soup was pretty delicious and I almost drank my bowl dry. The magma roll was a bit disappointing though. Not as hot as I expected. Having salmon and canned tuna pieces together probably isn't the best idea either. The tuna definitely out ways the salmon even though it's the salmon you really want to task. Overall a great place for a ramen fix if you are ever in western sydney.

They're many Japanese restaurant contenders in my area but this tiny place remains me of alot of gems we visited in Japan. So if they're busy you might find it hard to get seating, but takeaway option still available. The menu is basic but covers the whole range: sushi, sashimi, ramens, udons, tempuras, bentos, entrees etc. I go here so often (eat in or takeaway) because everytime I order it's like ordering for the first time. the consistency doesn't drop just because you're a regular, which I've had with many other restaurants before. The quality is awesome, especially for such a small restaurant. I've been visiting this place since it first opened and been a loyal fan since. FYI they do open on Sundays now so don't be deterred!

$3.50 for each dish was a steal for the quality sushi they make…read more Every dish was $3.50 but the sashimi was around $6-7. It's super quick, convenient and tasty at the same time! I found the quality of the sushi was pretty good for a sushi train. They were constantly making new sushi and adding it to the train therefore you were never really eating "old" sushi. If the sushi you wanted wasn't on the train, you had the option to order it off the menu and they get served to your table very quickly. There's nothing to complain about this place. It's quick, easy & you're able to go back to shopping on a full and satisfied stomach :)

This Sushi train will draw you in with its signs plastered on the windows $3.50 sushi plates all…read moreday all night. Sold! Then as you walk into the humongous space you'll be amazed at the longest sushi train you've ever seen! It whirls, winds & bends throughout the entire space which is cool if you're decisive as if you aren't you'll miss the train & it could be a while till that dish comes back by you if it already hasn't been gobbled up by the crowds who frequent this joint. But its all about the experience so enjoy the train ride! The sushi chefs are busily going back & forth to the kitchen to get fresh new ingredients to work their magic, so theres constantly new dishes been put onto the train from your traditional rolls to black rice sushi & cornflakes encrusted sushi. There are cute little signs on plates which explain what certain fish or rice are, the benefits for those in the need to know what they're gobbling. Theres also a range of Japanese flavoured gelato on offer. Just remember to get the wait staff to calculate your bill before you go to the cash register to pay for all the plates you ended up stacking up. A great pop in for a quick snack but also a great environment to bring your friends, tantalise over the plates while they choo-choo past you. You can opt for the usual bar dining or there are actual benches that cater to groups so you're not having to play chinese whispers down the bench with your group.

This is definitely not a sushi train. More like a sushi Shinkansen. The speed of the sushi…read morecarrying conveyer belt is faster than at any other sushi train I've seen. If you're like me and need a few seconds to decide if that's the plate you'd like then by the time you make the decision the plate is already long gone. On the positive side though it doesn't take long for the plate to come back around if it hasn't been snatched up along the way. We went on a Saturday night which you would typically associate as the peak time of operation for restaurants but yet they were out of 75% of their non sushi menu. Limited udon to choose from. No ramen. No rice bowls. Much disappointment. Sticking to the sushi I thought it was quite good. Everything tasted fresh and the saucy ones had good flavour to them. Selection wise I thought it was a bit limited when compared to other sushi train places. Their hand rolls could do with some better flavours similar to what they have at makoto. So maybe it's that we eat a lot but I think it's more the prices but for two we spent about $60 and were full but not like we were stuffed. So a bit on the expensive side for something as simple as sushi. Thank goodness for the entertainment card!

For lovers of Japanese foods, there is probably a Sushi Bay near you. Their food is always fresh,…read moreyou can see them making it in front of you. Originally known as Sushi Train, they have improved the menu and the way the food is served. They now serve udon soup so you don't have to eat raw fish if you don't like it. The only problem is that now, in Castle Hill at least, they get so busy its sometimes hard to find a seat. Fortunately Japanese sushi doesn't take long to eat, so if you're prepared to wait around someone will soon leave. They also make great platters for parties.

We arrived early 11:30am for a noon lunch but no problems. We were asked if we would like the chefs to start our lunch early. It was windy and miserable outside so I opted for the warmed sake. It was fine but we did try some nicer sake at the end of the meal. Our plates came out in a timely manner. I think due to the waitress paying attention to how quickly we were eating. The restaurant was filled by noon and when a large group arrived at the door they had to make a decision to find somewhere else to eat. All of our food was great and we even opted to pay for a second plate. The bento boxes and other lunch time meals looked good too.I also liked the cocktail with lychee. There are quite a few eating places within a short walk of this place and they were also very busy.

Umaya happens to be around the corner from a church I was visiting in sydney and I came here frequently. I had the karage don and the katsu don bowls and they were both awesome! Super solid karage, fresh, crunchy and tender and the sauces and kewpie mayo they use is great. The katsu don bowl was also exactly as i expected it. I may not be happy about the price if i were paying AUD but paying USD it was moreeee than fair. The quality was very consistent and the service was great. Definitely a go to place if you're ever in the outskirts of sydney australia!
