My favorite place to eat in FSJ. I order skip for lunch almost every friday and it never disapoints. :)

Went for dinner the other day here. I ordered unagi bowl and it came without the pickled raddish unlike the picture. My husband ordered dragon rolls and it just full of the imitation crab meat. We also ordered spinach and miso soup for appetizer, the spinach came with overly sweet sauce. Definitely not the best sushi place I have ever been, maybe because I'm Asian, I have a very high standard for Asian food. read more

I've eaten here about 10 times and the food has always been decent. All of the ingredients in the rolls taste fresh, but I would bet money on the fact the gyoza are from the freezer. I guess thats typical in a mediocre establishment. The last time I was here, I wanted something outside my norm. I ordered the spicy scallop roll, but I asked for it without the small fish eggs. The gal taking my order told me 'No.' I have been told I am blunt, so I can appreciate the trait when I see it in others. However, I am left to ponder why it cannot be made without the eggs? Was the sauce pre-made and it would be too hard to pick all the small eggs out? I ordered the roll anyhow and it was A-OK. I am not really fond of the wall menu, which instead of a printed menu is giant pictures and descriptions plastered on a wall. Maybe thats how they do it in Asia, this might be authentic. I AM fond of the take all you want soy sauce and chop sticks. For this reason alone is why I come to Sushi Heaven instead of Q-Spot. The food and prices are about the same as Q-Spot, but this place is much better than the WAAAYYY overpriced Masataro around the corner. If you're in the John and missing the tastes of Vancouver, go back to Vancouver. If that's out of your budget, Sushi Heaven will do. I have no problems going back. read more

BEST SUSHI IN FSJ. Their food is always fresh, colorfully and elegantly presented and super yummy! They always give clean and polite service, and the prices are also the best in the city. The atmosphere of their eat in area is casual and light as a lunch cafe, so no pressure to dress up if you don't feel like it that day or night. We have tried all the other sushi places in the city in the past just to be fair and without a doubt - Sushi Heaven is for sure our favorite and only sushi place now for the past 2 years:) Good Food, Good People, Good Price....so don't be fooled buy the casual atmosphere or that they don't offer delivery for your party- they are the best and you can always order fast take out for your fancy or formal date or party. *Note* they do ask for some advanced notice for large party orders- but that expected and fair. read more

My daughter is a sushi fanatic and this is her go to restaurant when I treat. The cafeteria style seating and service suits us as her little guy is very vocal and would disturb fellow diners in a more formal setting. I like the individual order dishes as it lends to sharing and I enjoy the tempura vegetables/shrimp and gyoza more than the sushi. Compliment my meal with a tasty Sapporo beer for a mere $5 and you have a happy guy. read more

I've been to many Japanese restaurants from Vancouver to Toronto. Taste of sushi depends on how well the sushi rice is being prepared. (sourness + sweetness + moisture of the rice) Didn't expect much from FSjohn, but this place was good!!!! Their rolls were superb!! Specially can't go wrong with their California roll and Spicy tuna roll. If you are maki lover like myself, highly recommended. Tasty + good value! read more

Was a little leery about sushi up north but this place could give any city slick joint a run for their money. It's not fancy but it's comfortable. They could make it a bit nicer. A little ambiance, music wouldn't hurt. The fish was fresh though. They were creative and the portions were good. There's a big menu on the wall and plenty of picture of the food. Looked like they did a lot of take-out. I'd definitely go back and recommend it just not for a fancy night out. read more

I love the sushi (it is my favourite in FSJ) and I really love that I can get take-out plastic free/ styrofoam free. I never get sushi take out, I always eat in, because normally take out comes in plastic or styrofoam containers. Sushi heaven does use styrofoam for their takeout, BUT, they let me bring my own containers for take out!!! Yay! read more

While on a recent visit my daughter introduced me to Sushi Heaven's "Mother Earth Roll." It was amazing! it was also HUGE! I'm of the belief that good sushi is small enough to finish in one bite. Yam, avocado, cucumber, bean curd, red pepper all wrapped in rice paper and topped with tempura bits. I had it several times while I was there and enjoyed it even though it was hard to eat gracefully. They happily agreed when I asked for Broccoli-only tempura which was very light and very good. Eight pieces for $9.95. Many places will not do it and others don't even have broccoli. I also tried the agedashi tofu which I thoroughly enjoyed. It came quickly and was a perfect temperature as well as a generous portion. Their miso soup was some of the best I've had. Although it lacked the seaweed I love, it was rich with green onions and again, it included a generous serving of cubed tofu. Definitely my choice and I will return when I'm back in the Fort. read more

This place is amazing! We stopped in for dinner on our drive down the 1 and shared a big sushi platter and each got miso soup. The food was good and the service was fantastic! Puja (sorry if I mispelled) was amazing and the chefs were so friendly and generous. Definitely worth the stop!!! read more
