Came here on a business trip. It was not very busy during Tuesday lunch time. We ordered a mixed of fried and fresh rolls. For appetizers, I recommend the Tuna Tiradito - savory with a kick of spiciness when you bite into the serrano pepper, and cucumber salad - refreshing and light to start our meals. We ordered 2 fried rolls that have fried rice inside the roll and they were pretty bland. I don't think they actually put enough seasoning into the fried rice. Surprising the fresh rolls are much better with more flavors. If you like raw fish, I recommend Benavides roll, Cigarroa roll, Sakanamaki roll, and Ahumada roll. Overall, the eating experience was decent. FYI, there was only 1 or 2 servers speak English if you don't speak Spanish. Service was good. read more

I've been a sushi madre customer since their first location on Saunders. The service remains high in quality and the dishes remain progressive and reliable. Though I'm not a fan of raw seafood, sushi madre caters to people like me perfectly! The avocado salad, poblano soup, and fresh rolls always hit the spot. I would recommend the Laredo, Hurtado, and La Loca roll. If you're trying to get the most authentic sushi experience, you may be mislead by coming here. But if you want an experience of sushi that is creative and has a twist on the traditional, this is the place. I called to place an order for carryout and asked the woman on the phone if someone would walk the food out "curbside" and was told that would not be a problem. When I showed up I called to let them know I was outside and the same person I spoke to 20 minutes before laughed at me, and said "well like, you can't get down?". I was shocked at her tone. She came out with the food and to charge for the order and instructed me to leave a tip. I did not. I was overcharged for the advertised special of the day by $4 and was given attitude. This place is not bad. Their poblano soup is tasty. Sangria served fresh and cold. I'm not a big fan of their fried rice because it tastes as if it's microwaved. Does not taste made fresh. I ordered take out through their online service. It said it would only take 20 min. So I gave it 30 just to be in the safe side. I went inside to pick up my order and the cashier told me it wasn't done yet and she doesn't know If I want to "wait or what". SHE THEN PRINTED OUT MY TICKET WITH ME STANDING THERE. I asked her why it wasn't done, she pointed to the dining room. I asked her about how long she said she didn't know. So then I asked if it had even been started yet. She checked and said no. So I left. An online ordering service shouldn't be offered if it isn't going to be honored. read more

Never again! Caution the sushi rolls are filled with nothing but White Rice. They appear larger than your average sushi roll but sad they call it sushi. Do NOT eat here. Also I placed an order less than five minutes and they have four of my rolls done which makes me wonder if it's actually fresh or already pre-made. White plates were so old they had knife scratches on them, which contained old food material within those scratches. Glasses for drinks were so dirty we lost our appetite. Food did not look appetizing at all. I prefer spending my $30.00 on McDonald's Big Macs! read more
