Maegan B.

We've been here several times and each time is a pretty different experience. They have multiple pools, free and paid crafts to do, stuff a plush (similar to build a bear), swim up bars, walk up bars, concession stands, ponds (supposed to be stocked but we've never caught anything or seen anyone catch anything), small water slide (two big slides and two small slides, really the perfect size attraction) etc. There's a lot to do but a lot to be desired as well and it really boils down to spending most of your time in the pool or at the water park if you have kids. Be aware you will be spending quite a bit on food, activities (arcade, crafts, Dino park) if you want to stay busy without using the pool. If that's what you're looking for this is a great place but for us, 4 days for $1,200 is steep for mostly swimming. The workers are mostly teens and they are some really great kids. Polite, helpful and down to earth. The only issue I witnessed with a worker was the kid supervising the big slides flirting with the girls and getting them to buy him soft drinks, these girls were very young and it was weird. Also letting kids go down three at a time which was really unsafe. The pool should be better supervised though. There's no lifeguard and I pulled two kids up from sinking, very irresponsible to have a bar in the pool and no lifeguard. We pulled up several plastic cups from the pool and there was a lot of trash like empty cups that people leave on side of the pool that stayed there for hours. The trash cans should really have the swinging lids bc the flies are terrible. Napkins and food containers were surrounding the trash cans from people missing and it wasn't picked up for hours either. Drinks were never consistent and definitely lacked flavor. I would highly suggest renting a golf cart when you go. There's a laundry facility and it is kept really clean and cheap to use. Our room was cleaned at the same level hotels are cleaned which is mostly surface and the renters before you are who washed the dishes so I would either wash them yourself or bring disposables. A big downside is they don't replenish towels. At $1200 for 4 days, nobody wants to spend two hours washing towels. They added a gym and it's really nice with standard equipment, very clean and easy to get in. Had a lot of nice people there and we had a pretty good time. I would recommend traveling to Lafayette for dinner if you're going out to eat. The concession stand is very reasonably priced and pretty good food. The workers are back there getting food out really quickly with the amount of volume. The playground isn't fully covered and it was extremely hot to touch when we visited and we decided to opt out. Overall I'm sure we'll eventually go back and I would definitely recommend to at least give it a try. Especially for the hospitality and kid friendliness. And it's worth noting Margaritaville didn't build this place, they took over a previously built establishment and made it a lot nicer than it was (we started going back when it was still Cajun Palms). So the lack of amenities/attractions is mostly because they just weren't originally built and they've done a lot with the property since acquiring it.

‍yum!! seaweed salad was fresh, crunchy, and perfectly seasoned with a hint of sesame super refreshing! The sushi roll was generously filled and had a nice crisp bite from the tempura, making it hearty and satisfying. A great combo of light and filling flavors definitely hit the spot!

This is the decorated seating area in the front of the establishment

The sushi from sushi masa is absolutely delectable and perfectly textured their waiters are very kind and prompt with the delivery of our food the gyoza was especially scrumptious and the decorations were absolutely stunning I would definitely come here again (I've been here approximately 10 times and it's shocking how good it is every time)

This is my favorite sushi spot in town, right next to Fuji. The service here is absolutely phenomenal, the ambiance is nice (recommend getting a booth or seating in bar for the best) but the ROLLS are what get you. The i-10 roll, topped with fresh mango and a mango sauce, to die for. The lucky Buddha also has an interesting kick, the jalapeño makes it standout. My all time favorite are the basics though, which would be the sweet potato roll (perfection) and pretttty much anything with cream cheese (Philadelphia roll). For appetizers? Would have to say the peppered tuna -- I always order two, because one isnt enough. knocks your sox off.

Sweetheart

Good rolls! Double J + shrimp tempura and sweet heart. Would get again. Ordered on uber eats

I just recently found out about Sushi Masa. Never heard or been to any of their locations until I went to the location in Baton Rouge a few months ago. Yesterday we decided to try the Lafayette location. It was busy as usual and we had to wait for a table. No problem. Once we were seated I was impressed with the decor and atmosphere of the restaurant. We all ordered the all you can eat. Tried multiple items on the menu including their cucumber salad, miso soup, clear soup, edamame, I-10 special roll, snow white special roll, and spicy salmon roll. Everything I tried was very good. I was pleasantly suprised how good the sushi is for being such a high volume restaurant. The server did a great job keeping up with everyone's order. I eat quite a bit and appreciates places that either give you big portions or is a great value. Sushi Masa is definitely a great value for either lunch or dinner when you choose the all you can eat option.

Took our 9 month old for the first time and she LOVED the fried rice. Our server was amazing and so thoughtful when it came to the kids.

Responding to Chelsa K.'s 1* review. As I am someone who was in the restaurant when it happened…read more I just think it's funny how you aren't mentioning y'all came in as 6 people and then wanted accommodations for 30 people during one of the busiest times of the night. Or that they argued with the amazing manager for nearly an hour total after being told they couldn't accommodate that size party. They're also leaving out the part where people from their group marched in and seated themselves, stood over occupied tables waiting for guests to leave, insisting the hosts clean the tables, and made the entire restaurant uncomfortable. This had nothing to do with race and everything to do with behavior. Any group acting like that would've gotten the exact same response. In short, do better. Y'all came in and ruined everyone's dinner because y'all don't know how to plan ahead. Stop blaming people for your mistakes and take accountability.

This may have been part of the reason its wasn't all that busy on a Tuesday lunch. Similar to some other restaurants in Louisiana I've visited, they have a side with a bar, to-go area and high tops, and a more family oriented side of the restaurant with a bunch of low top tables. Fried pork rinds are served with every table. They have daily plate lunches and the one day I came it was chicken fried steak. However, it's not usually a good idea to order CFS outside of Texas in my experience. Therefore, I ended up ordering the catfish and shrimp platter, served grilled instead and added a $5 strawberry margarita. The entree comes with a side salad but they only have seelct dressings and none which I would typically order, so i just settled on honey mustard. Margarita- for only $5 it's not bad and comes with either sugar or salt rim Catfish and shrimp platter - seasoned with a blackened seasoning but it wasn't spicy. The catfish filet was small and tasted like it was previously frozen. The shrimp were also small and didn't taste much better. Not sure I'd return if ever in Lafayette, as I was really looking for a more festive environment and more grilled options.

First Course: We began with the oyster sampler featuring Charbroiled, Bienville, Orleans, and Rockefeller styles. Each had its own unique flavor profile, and together they made a great introduction to the meal. Second Course: A crisp romaine and spring mix salad paired with a crawfish, crab, and corn bisque. The bisque was rich and comforting, perfectly balanced by the freshness of the salad. Main Course Highlights: Almond-crusted paneed chicken finished with roasted red bell pepper aioli. Grilled portabella mushroom stuffed with Gulf blue crab, shrimp, peppers, and spinach, topped with lemon aioli and parmesan. Filet Orleans (which I didn't try since I don't eat beef, but others raved about it). Dessert: The finale was a Cinnamon Roll Bread Pudding drizzled with a decadent sauce -- warm, sweet, and absolutely delicious. Overall, the combination of excellent service, creative dishes, and indulgent dessert made this Yelp Event a true standout.

We had chicken and sausage gumbo, Pepper Jack boudin balls, bam bam gator bites and the blackened chicken pasta. The waiter this time was better than the waitress we had last time. He was very attentive and made sure we never had to ask for refills. The appetizers came out fairly normal time-wise I would say. The main portion took a little bit longer than what you're used to at a franchise restaurant but here that's perfectly fine as it's worth the couple extra minutes. The gumbo is perfect(I love when gumbo is not over complicated) I like to add a lil hot sauce to it and it's delicious... only thing is, while they already give generous portions... the cup and the bowl looked exactly the same except I think in the bowl they give you one extra scoop of rice... which would be just fine if it wasn't like $6 more. But still delicious nonetheless. The bam bam gator bites were really good and I highly recommend them. If you like bam bam shrimp you'll love these. The pepper jack boudin balls were good, nothing special but they were definitely worth the try. My co-worker had the blackened chicken pasta and when I asked him how it was he said "dude, it's really good!" lol. The building is pretty unique and they have some outside seating with a massive beautiful tree that over looks the restaurant and takes claim to some of the asphalt in the parking lot lol. But it's a great spot for birthdays, good lunch menu deals, casual date night or if you wanna blow some steam off, they have a little bar in the restaurant as well. Overall, I HIGHLY recommend. I'm from East Texas, so I'm no Cajun/Louisianan but they truly got some good grub here. I'll definitely be coming back several more times when I get the chances. I will warn you, I believe the food is freshly made so when it gets to the table, give it some time to cool off because it comes out HOT.

There are so many menu items you will have a difficult time choosing, I would say pick something you've never tried and go for it. The crawfish beignets were amazing, our first time trying, very light and the pico de gallo goes beautifully, as this compensate for the oil. We had the lunch specials which is a separate menu, and what a great choice, the crab enchiladas was creamy and with the lettuce and pico was a delicious bite, and the tuna bowl was spot on. Even from the parking lot, you can already smell the food. The whole area was filled with the smoky steak aroma, which instantly made me extra hungry. When you walk in, you can see them handmaking their own tortillas, and that alone got me really excited to try the food. We were seated in a separate room. It was a bit small, but it definitely gave off NYC vibes. The decorations were done so well--I couldn't stop complimenting the space. We arrived right in time for Happy Hour, where you can get a large margarita for the price of a small, which is a great deal. As soon as we sat down, they brought out tortillas and salsa like most Mexican restaurants--but these were surprisingly much better. I believe it's because of their fresh handmade tortillas. What we ordered: Superior Quesadillas - Nicely plated and came with sides (I forgot to take a picture so I don't remember exactly what they were). It was decent, but nothing really special. San Lucas Sizzling Fajitas - Came with skirt steak and shrimp. The shrimp was butterflied Texas-style and served with all the usual sides. The meat was good, but I didn't like the vegetables. They were too soft and lacked that grilled, charred flavor. The pan was extremely hot, so the vegetables ended up burning and sticking to it instead. Service: Honestly, I didn't like the service. The server was okay, but definitely not great. I usually love Mexican restaurants because of their warm, friendly staff, but this experience made me uncomfortable. We felt rushed the entire time--she kept taking our plates and drinks before we were finished, and I had to ask for them back multiple times (not just once). What really killed the mood was the shots. Even though we felt rushed, every time we ordered shots it took forever to arrive. We waited almost 20 minutes total for just two rounds of shots, which is ridiculous for something so simple. I understand it was busy, but many busy restaurants still don't make customers wait that long. It really ruined the vibe for us. Final thoughts: The bill was pricey, and I knew that going in--but I had high expectations and left totally disappointed. The food was just decent, yet very overpriced. For the same amount of money, you could go to another Mexican restaurant or even a food truck and get a full feast. I rarely complain about service--especially since I used to be a server--but this time I couldn't overlook it. Would I recommend it? * Fresh tortillas & happy hour drinks: YES * Food & service: NO Unless you're coming strictly for the vibes and pretty decor, I wouldn't recommend spending your money here. There are much better places out there.
