Cool! A great…read morelittle restaurant on Darling Street in Balmain, amongst all the other great little restaurants. The place has good sushi, both dine in and take away. I often just get take away when I can't be bothered with dinner, and its usually not too much. The prices are competitive, but also not the cheapest. You can usually get 2 containers of sushi for less than $10, but that often doesn't do the job for me. But then again, I eat a lot. I would advise this place as some of the best sushi around the area, for taste and price. Definately check it out, but keep in mind - it's not a big classy restaurant, just a small, perhaps humble place in the shadow of the category of "classy restaurants", of which Sydney has many. The staff are friendly enough, and the place is comfortable to eat in. And get a froen coke at 7/11 accross the road. Nice.

Sushi before shopping and you will feel like you are in heaven; yet for me sushi just doesn't do it for me here in Rozelle. I mean there is nothing wrong with the establishment; with the quality of the sushi or the service; it is just that I have been conditioned to eat and enjoy sushi in the city or in the eastern suburbs of Sydney somewhere; not near my previous home area. You just have to really want it; no different to an overseas holiday. As I said I cannot fault the service, the sushi is terrific and full of authentic flavours with the freshest ingredients being used; and if your lucky you might get to see the staff roll the sushi by hand using those bamboo mats; it is kind of special. I will come to this establishment again and enjoy; yet 'sushi in the city' has just overpowered the enjoyment received from this establishment somewhat.

Completely walked past this small joint but not surprising as it's pretty easy to miss. Once you…read morewalk inside, you notice how narrow it is with a handful of tables all on one side. There are a couple more tables outside which were needed even on a Tuesday night. However, if you are lucky enough to live in the area you can opt for takeaway which seemed to be a popular choice as the takeaway line was constant. All good signs that this was to be an enjoyable meal. With plenty to choose from, deciding was a slightly slow process but we ordered the medium sushi and sashimi, udon, and one of the recommended dishes - the rainbow roll. When the plates came out it was a delight for the eyes! Presentation was so on point and it was just so pretty. I don't think the photos do them any justice. But ultimately what's important is the taste, and yes there was no disappointment in this department either. I particularly loved the sushi and sashimi plate just for how fresh everything was. Although I did find the kingfish a little hard to chew. Minor fault. Entering with a massive sushi craving, Sushi Oh-Oo did a good job at satisfying, or if you flip it around I could have been enjoying everything far too much because of my deep desire for it. Either way, happy chappy. Udon was standard but that by no means is a negative, and was a great accompaniment to everything else. To be honest though, as much as I did enjoy the rainbow roll, not sure if it deserving to be one of two recommended dishes. I mean, it was tasty without a doubt, but I've had rainbow rolls at other places of similar quality. Perhaps it was the overpowering fried prawn in the middle, as I'm not the biggest fan of fried food. But if you are, ignore this, you'll probably love it! What is also another HUGE plus for Sushi Oh-oo is because of their good pricing. It's not too crazy, or not crazy at all depending on how you see it, and they pump out tasty, fresh food so they definitely deserve a big thumbs up in this aspect.

Regularly go here with the family. Note the shop is small and narrow, and very popular during meals times, so best to get in early.
